It was an uplifting moment at Frederick Anderson's Spring 2026 runway show during New York Fashion Week. Feeling the weight of the world in recent times, the designer sought to offer a much-needed escape--taking the audience on a mini vacation to a place he calls 'joy.' The collection transported us to the Mediterranean, bursting with vibrant teals and breezy, beach-ready resort wear, including tunics, maxi dresses, and sundresses. The silhouettes were intentionally looser, embodying the freedom that Anderson believes every woman should experience. Lace--a signature of Anderson's work--took center stage once again, but this season also welcomed a rich mix of tweed, silk chiffon, and crochet, adding texture and variety to the joyful aesthetic.

00:00I'm calling this destination joy. I just think that this year is such a downer. I feel like I
00:16just want to be uplifting and light. This summer I didn't get to travel because we were working
00:20really hard. I miss all these wonderful joyous places. I usually travel like south of France
00:25and Ibiza and going down to Bosphorus. I just thought you know what let's bring that to life
00:30and like let's have a joyous moment. I think we need more of that to find our inner joy and find
00:35joy in life because it is there and we need to spend more time with that than we do with all of
00:40this noise because it is noise. I think there's a lightness and in the clothing I wanted it to be
00:45really light. Everything just kind of ties. There's no closure. It's tying. It's hanging. It's loose.
00:50I wanted this kind of a joie de vivre. Find that place that you find love and joy in yourself you
00:55know. My lace. My home. You know it's there. It's all the way through it. For me it's the Mediterranean.
01:01It's teal. I mean you know in French they had this like fabulous teal kind of blue that they mixed this
01:07coral color. I did that through the collection. There's a little Ibiza in there with like this
01:11kind of mosaic prints that are like crocheted and then I also did some beading hand beading work in
01:16it as well. I have been working more and more over the last year or so on taking out as much
01:21structure and lining as I can and I think I'm just coming to the place where if I take out more I
01:25won't have anything left. But I like the idea that you see the body. I like the idea of the
01:30effortlessness of it. I like the freedom. I think women should be free. We are in a moment where we
01:35should be embracing that. This freedom. This free spirit moment. I'm choosing to choose joy. So that's my
01:41spring. The looks are based on sort of beach and that feeling. It's easy going but a little bit
01:48beach wave. Basically we take the hair and we spin wave it leave it alone and then just before the show
01:54we break it and then let it get a little bit of volume. But still very casual semi quasi wave beach
02:02waving. You just take a curling line and spin around the iron and then let the curl hang and do that and
02:08just leave the end out a little bit. So you don't actually curl to the very end. The look today
02:13is a little bit more straight back for Frederick. Normally we go for something a little stronger.
02:16But it's actually really fresh and glamorous. We've really highlighted the beautiful skin tones of the
02:21models using lots of glowy makeup. A little bit of bronzer. A tiny bit of blush. Loads of mascara to
02:27open up the eyes and a few single lashes. Brushing up the brow and a gloss on the lip. It's kind of meant to be
02:32like easy and effortless and I think it really goes to the collection. It's very achievable at home.
02:36It's just really hydrated skin. Lots of like illuminators like Flawless Filter from Charlotte
02:41Tilbury. Kind of a liquid foundation. A nice cream blush. A good lip gloss and a great mascara and that
02:47really is it.
