00:01This is Manon.
00:03And my coma led me to become a traveler.
00:12She's one of the strongest, most unique women I've ever met,
00:15and her story is so deep that it's hard to tell in three minutes.
00:19Manon was one of the organizers for my Pakistan trip,
00:22and she flew all the way from her home in Oman to accompany us around her native country.
00:27Manon is an entrepreneur and makes a living from trading goods.
00:31She's also the head of partnership of Knowledge NGO, the biggest of its kind in Oman.
00:36She speaks six languages fluently and has lived in eight countries.
00:40I was born in Saudi and I have lived in France, Scotland, England,
00:44UAE, China, Oman, and USA.
00:47But Manon identifies as French Kashmiri.
00:49It's amazing!
00:51Kashmir is the region that's partly owned by China, partly by India, and partly by Pakistan.
00:56Her family is from the Pakistani Azad region, where we are filming this video today.
01:01We are right now on the highest peak of Kashmir, which is Pirtanasi.
01:05As an active traveler to 28 countries, Manon enjoys sharing her experiences on Instagram and YouTube.
01:11I'm the very first Kashmiri girl to travel the world solo.
01:14So far, judging by what I've told you, it seems like Manon is a wonderfully accomplished girl.
01:19And she definitely is. But just wait until you see what she's been through to get here.
01:24She grew up with ADHD and severe depression.
01:27In 2007, she got a stomach ulcer, which turned for the worst in 2016, when she had to spend nine months in the same hospital bed.
01:35Manon fell into a coma and was on life support for 15 days.
01:39She lost 135 pounds in the process, and her stomach shrunk to one-third the size of a newborn baby.
01:46My stomach is the size of my pinky finger.
01:48Now she's been out of the hospital for almost two years and has recovered remarkably fast.
01:54But her entire diet has changed. Everything she eats, she carries around in her purse.
02:05I'm gluten-free, lactose intolerant, vegetarian, and my stomach can only take five tablespoons a day.
02:10So this is what I eat for my lunch. So like four bites of corn equivalent to this and five salmon fries.
02:17Every night before sleeping, Manon needs to inject sodium or glucose in her leg.
02:22Kind of my weakness.
02:23She does this for four hours every night.
02:26Yeah, yeah, I can sleep with it. I watch TV with it. Like, I can even drive. I just put it in my car with my stand.
02:33Do you travel with how many bags of those?
02:35It depends. I take one bag for two days. So if I'm traveling for ten days, I'll take five of them.
02:42After all the hardships she's been through, Manon is one of the happiest souls I've ever met.
02:47Her goal of seeing the entire world has only just begun.
02:51This is a story of strength, perseverance, and courage.
02:54Despite doctors saying that she wouldn't survive, Manon has pushed through and nothing has stopped her from living a normal life.
03:07This girl just simply never gave up.
