00:00I'm coming to you live from the northern Afghanistan city called Mazar-Sharif, and I'm really enjoying this culture.
00:07Humble people, stunning architecture, unbelievable flavors, and a simple life.
00:13Never have I been to a place this authentic, this convincing, and this cheap.
00:18Much like Pakistan, daily life expenses in Afghanistan are extremely affordable compared to the Western world.
00:25And one thing I've noticed is that it's a 100% cash-driven society.
00:28Credit card is not accepted anywhere, nor are services like Airbnb or Uber.
00:34So basically, I had to exchange my US dollars on the street.
00:37Got it? Okay. Thanks, man.
00:38And I discovered that $10 is about 763 Afghanis. It's time to see how much we can buy.
00:45Firstly, I need to look nice, and by that, I mean to blend in.
00:49Part of traveling in Afghanistan is keeping a small footprint, and it starts with clothing.
00:54I'm here getting a shavar kameez, which is a traditional dress.
00:57The white one or the blue one? I kind of like the blue one.
01:00Do you like?
01:01Do you like it?
01:02Yeah, nice?
01:02Cool.
01:03I think it works.
01:04He was asking for $300, so after a few words, I made it to give us for $200.
01:09$200.
01:10You need to bargain in Afghanistan now.
01:12All right, next, I've got to cover up my red hair because it does stand out a lot in Afghanistan.
01:18So I'm going to get a turban, which is what everybody wears here, to cover it up.
01:22That's a lot of turbans.
01:23I want the one that will blend in the most.
01:25It feels really nice, like soft.
01:27Can you ask him the price of this one?
01:28The price was $120, and I asked him if he can give it. It was up for $100.
01:33Okay, so I'm getting him to tie the turban on my head right now.
01:38How's your court?
01:38Nice.
01:39Awesome.
01:40Now I'm a local.
01:42Super hot outside right now, middle of the day, so we're going to head back to the hotel,
01:45get a quick rest before coming out again at golden hour to finish this $10 video.
01:51Oh, yeah.
01:52I am ready to hit the streets.
01:56I've never felt more local anywhere in the world than I do right now in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan.
02:03So right now, we are riding in the back of a rickshaw.
02:06All right.
02:06These are the common way to get around the city, right?
02:10Yeah.
02:11And it's really fun.
02:11You can see the decorations in here are amazing.
02:13You've got all these different colors, designs.
02:17All right.
02:17It's time to pick up a flag for my collection.
02:20We headed into a local handicraft shop, and this man came to help add to my 160-plus flags
02:25at home.
02:26Just this.
02:27I only want this one.
02:28Yeah.
02:28Okay, cool.
02:28Afghanistan is a country that's blessed with amazing fruit, given its diverse climate.
02:34So it's time to give it a try.
02:37Let's get some fresh orange juice.
02:39Oh, man.
02:46That is so good.
02:49So, Noor, what are some other good drinks we can try here?
02:51Oh, many other things, but I just tried a sugar cane.
02:55Fresh sugar cane juice.
02:56Yeah.
02:56Just over here.
02:57Yeah.
02:57You can actually see there's a lot of these sugar cane vendors that are lined up on the
03:01streets here, and it's pretty simple.
03:02You put it in the machine, it comes out slowly.
03:05It drips out slowly into the cup.
03:07So refreshing.
03:10How's it?
03:11Nice.
03:13Okay, so the way they do ice cream in Afghanistan is different than anywhere else I've seen in
03:17the world.
03:17They make it by hand.
03:19It's amazing.
03:20There's a guy making it right there behind me.
03:21We're going to go get some and see how delicious it is.
03:26Nice to meet you.
03:27Nice to meet you.
03:28Nice to meet you.
03:29Nice to meet you.

03:3325 years.
03:3425 years.
03:35Thank you very much.
03:36It's the same one they have in Pakistan.
03:37It's a very unique flavor.
03:38What's it made from?
03:39It's cardamom.
03:40Nailed it.
03:41Yeah.
03:42Yeah.
03:43Yeah.
03:44Yeah.
03:45Yeah.

04:01to try and then we're going to get some Afghani food for dinner.
