00:01So we're out here driving in northeastern Afghanistan about an hour hour and a half outside of Mazar-Sharif to a place called
00:09Samangan
00:10It's beautiful out here. We're surrounded by mountains and it's really incredible
00:13It kind of reminds me of home in Arizona, and we met this really nice dude walking on the side of the street
00:18We asked him to come in our car. He came in
00:22We just picked up a guy on the side of the road
00:25And we're taking him with us and he invited us to see his village which we are now touring around and just loving the rural life here in Afghanistan
00:37So this village has every shade of brown you will see you got the brown mountain brown dirt the brown river running through
00:44Can you see the figs here? Yeah, these are the very young figs. It's not yet
00:49Just picking some figs from the tree. So most of the homes here. They're just made of mud
00:55Let's see. So what's happening right now?
00:58They're inviting us inside. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you
01:05Thank you. He brought rugs for us to sit on. Did you ask for that or no?
01:10He just brought it
01:12I've been to 163 countries and I find Afghan Afghani people to be some of the warmest and most hospitable in the world
01:29He says do you invite strangers in your home and give them tea and stuff like that?
01:38Do I?
01:38Um in American culture, it's not it's not common that we have random people come in our house
01:43But that's what I love so much about the culture here is that even if you don't know them they let you in
01:47They never met American before? He says that
01:51We only saw like the military people like especially the American soldiers
01:55coming with their very big vehicles and tanks and stuff
01:59They were sometimes stopping at close by our shops in the in the mountains
02:03And then they were coming they were buying some drinks and stuff and then they were leaving
02:07But they never saw tourists like me
02:15Many Taliban came to our areas and they stayed here for like three to four years in this area at the beginning
02:23They were so like rough and nervous there. They were coming there maybe asking for guns and
02:29Show them the people who was fighting against Taliban and they were bothering people on the first days
02:34They were even killing people later on. They were a little bit
02:38Better and he said that I was like 13 14 years old at that time. All right
02:42That was a really amazing experience to be let into their house
02:46They even invited us to stay for lunch
02:47Which we had to decline because we need to hit the road for Mazar
02:50I just want to share that story because Afghani hospitality is incredible just like Pakistan just like Iran
02:55This part of the world is incredible and you never know whoever you're going to meet
02:59They'll probably invite you into their house for some tea and lunch and some good smiles
03:03You brought me flowers thank you
03:24That's so nice of you
03:27Thank you
