A silent but deadly liver disease is affecting 1 in 5 people—and most have no idea they’re at risk. New research reveals that three common conditions—high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and low HDL cholesterol—can dramatically increase the risk of death from MASLD (Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease). Even more shocking? This disease is now rising fast in young adults. Watch to find out if you're at risk and what this means for your health.

00:00What if I told you there's a deadly liver disease quietly affecting one in five people,
00:04and most don't even know they have it? It's called MASOLD. That stands for metabolic
00:09dysfunction-associated stetotic liver disease. And no, it's not caused by alcohol. Instead,
00:15it comes from fat building up in the liver due to things like poor diet and inactivity.
00:21Now here's the scary part. Scientists have just revealed the top three risk factors that can
00:26dramatically raise your risk of dying from it. Risk number one, high blood pressure. That alone
00:32increases your chance of death by 40%. Next is type 2 diabetes. It bumps your risk up by 25%.
00:40And finally, low levels of good cholesterol, HDL. That adds another 15%. The more of these risk factors
00:47you have, the higher your chances. Each extra condition increases the risk by another 15%.
00:53Doctors used to focus mostly on diabetes. But this new research shows we've been missing a bigger
00:58picture. This disease is rising fast, especially in younger adults. And since it shows little to no
01:04symptoms, you could have it and not even know. So if you're living with any of these three conditions,
01:11it's time to take your liver health seriously.
