00:00What a man, six Sixers in Ireland, India World Champions.
00:15Netherlands cannot believe a child of creating the victorious Pakistan team.
00:20Hussey has deposited that into the stands.
00:22Look at these scenes, England are the winners.
00:25A brilliant century by McCollum.
00:27Here they come, the winners, West Indies.
00:31Coley, run machine.
00:33Malinga, 2014 champion Sri Lanka.
00:41Good afternoon and welcome to Dharamashala for this Super 10 Group 2 match between New Zealand and Australia.
00:48Umpire Marema Rasmus just getting the proceedings up and away.
00:57Good start from Colton Marell.
01:01Good line, good length.
01:09A couple of interesting changes.
01:11One on the Australian side from their last match, which wasn't in this World Cup, but against South Africa.
01:17Out goes John Hastings and Ashton Agar plays.
01:21So plenty of spin options too.
01:23Steve Smith has at his disposal.
01:25All swing and a miss.
01:26Guff will be disappointed he didn't put that away.
01:35That was short and wide.
01:37Yeah, difficult for both teams really.
01:40The Australians had the tough one with Finch.
01:42Finch is such a destructive player and he couldn't consider himself extremely unlucky.
01:47But they've preferred to go with Kawaja, the left hand option.
01:50So they've got that pattern of left right handers in their top order.
01:54And Ashton Agar, they just feel that this wicket is going to take some turn.
01:59And again, a brave decision from New Zealand going with McLennigan and leaving McCullum out.
02:06Edged and that will be third man for the first boundary of the afternoon.
02:11That's our first illustration of how small this ground is.
02:20James Faulkner is the man at third man.
02:22He didn't even make an attempt to go after this.
02:25Ran away quickly.
02:27In denial.
02:28Can get through at a good pace.
02:31New Zealand underway.
02:34Shane Watson in at slip.
02:39He's anticipating.
02:43Pulled and pulled straight down the ground.
02:45So Guftal is well and truly up and running.
02:52Well, the first match of this tournament for New Zealand.
02:55He hit the first ball from Ashwin for six.
02:57And straight into his work again.
02:59That one will please him a little more.
03:02In the middle of the bat, Nathan Kuldanol.
03:05Halfway down the wicket.
03:08But on again, no chance.
03:18Not quite getting the timing there.
03:20Looking for a couple.
03:21But Williamson saying no to the second.
03:24My co-commentator's got his arms in the air.
03:30Sort of saying why not.
03:32That was a bit strange, wasn't it?
03:34Not quite sure why.
03:36Not quite.
03:37And then on.
03:38Usman Khawaja.
03:39Not the quickest.
03:41Still five or ten metres away from the ball.
03:45They would have been able to amble through for the second.
03:47No, he's just foxing him.
03:48Just trying to lure him in.
03:50One ball left in the over.
03:52So it's been a good start so far by New Zealand.
03:55Getting nine so far off this Colton Isle over.
03:57And a dot ball to finish.
04:10So nine coming from the first.
04:12It's nine without loss.
04:13And that's going to run away for four.
04:17The line was poor.
04:18And a gift for Williamson.
04:20Shane Watson was annoyed with himself.
04:24With that delivery.
04:26What an absolute gift on the pads.
04:30Understandably shaking his head.
04:32A little shimmy down the wicket.
04:39We saw that Fieldsman.
04:40That third slip quite close.
04:42A lot in the test match.
04:43New Zealand Australia played a test series.
04:47Only a month ago.
04:49And that man at slip.
04:52Was an interesting position which they employed all series.
04:56Oh, I put an appeal there.
04:57But it looks like there may have been a little inside edge.
05:02And the umpire having nothing to do with it.
05:04So the second over gone.
05:05It's 14 without loss.
05:10So Ashton Agar.
05:12The surprise change in the bowling.
05:14And he's been met.
05:16With a huge six over wide bid on.
05:19That has to be the friendliest delivery to get.
05:24Such a small ground.
05:26Knee high full toss.
05:27And Guptill.
05:29Strikes them a long way at the best of times.
05:31That is a gift.
05:33And immediately Ashton Agar drops his head.
05:37Bowler's nightmare, isn't it?
05:39First ball or second ball for that matter.
05:42Going out of the ground.
05:44He knows he's got five more balls to get out of this over.
05:48And try to reduce the damage.
05:50The question is, does Martin Gupton try and put even more pressure on and make this a big over?
05:53100%.
05:54100%.
05:55It's got to go.
05:57Oh!
05:58And again.
06:00Too easy.
06:01Far too easy for Guptill.
06:03Two sixes.
06:05We were saying off air, weren't we?
06:08There was such a risk for Ashton Agar to bowl in the power play.
06:12And we're seeing why.
06:13First two deliveries.
06:14Two big full tosses.
06:16And both out of the ground.
06:17Not as far as this one.
06:18Just 81 metres.
06:20This is a real surprise to me that Agar is bowling in the power play.
06:25He hasn't got a lot of experience in doing it in big bash cricket.
06:29And again.
06:31A six.
06:32To finish the over.
06:34It's a big one.
06:3518 coming from it.
06:37It's 32 without loss.
06:39Two of those were full tosses.
06:41And that as well.
06:42In the slot.
06:4593 metres.
06:47New Zealand will be.
06:50Static.
06:51With the way they've started this match.
06:56In the air.
06:57Is it up and over?
06:58Yes it is.
06:59Williamson's first boundary.
07:04A confident looking shot.
07:06From Williamson.
07:09This one was just tugged.
07:11Over mid on.
07:13Put a fair amount of butt on it.
07:14He was clear what he wanted to do.
07:17Second boundary for him.
07:19And really goes about.
07:21Business of scoring runs with such ease.
07:24That's the type of player he is.
07:26A good partner in that of Gottel at the other end.
07:32Oh it's close.
07:34Nearly a brilliant catch up and wicket.
07:37Back to back boundaries for Williamson.
07:39It's his area of strength.
07:42The onside.
07:44Can't feed him there.
07:46This aerial for a while.
07:48On a short mid wicket.
07:50But could quite get there.
07:52Desperate dive to the left.
07:58Good pitch for batting.
08:01And that is huge.
08:03End of the stand again from Gottel.
08:06Brings up the 50 partnership.
08:08He's in a no nonsense mood.
08:11Martin Gottel.
08:13We've seen this from him in recent times.
08:15Over pitch delivery.
08:17This advances on a nice flourish of the bat.
08:20Six number four for him.
08:25Look at that.
08:2736 in terms of contribution.
08:29Dominating this partnership.
08:30The partnership.
08:34Clears his front leg.
08:39It's a real feature of.
08:41Martin Guptill's batting.
08:42That flourish you talk about Darren.
08:45When he's in good form.
08:47It's just an easy swing of the bat.
08:50Doesn't over hit the ball.
08:52He doesn't look to hit the ball.
08:5430 or 40 rows back.
08:55It's all timing.
09:00Another good shot.
09:08Timing from Williamson.
09:10And the perfect way.
09:12To finish the power play for New Zealand.
09:15Six overs gone.
09:1658 without loss.
09:23The finesse and class.
09:25Of Williamson.
09:27Doesn't really seem to hit the ball.
09:28With power.
09:30Have a look at this.
09:31Timing and placement.
09:34It was exactly where the fielders are.
09:41It's a big appeal.
09:43Marea Rasmus.
09:45Unmoved.
09:47Australians were confident.
09:49Zampa running down the pitch.
09:53Was there some glove or butt on this?
09:54Let's have a look.
09:57Spitches outside like some.
09:59Of the keeper's pad.
10:01Bubbles up.
10:05Probably made contact with Guptill's spot as well.
10:10Has he got enough of that?
10:12Long on Maxwell running around.
10:14And takes the catch.
10:16Brilliant from Maxwell.
10:18Martin Guptill is walking back New Zealand.
10:21They've lost their first wicket.
10:23The timing not quite there.
10:25It was a good innings from Martin Guptill.
10:2839 of 27.
10:30The Australians.
10:32Pulling themselves back into this match.
10:34Guptill out for 39.
10:3661 for one.
10:38So Guptill will be disappointed.
10:40He's looking in very good form.
10:42The angle from the left handed.
10:44Forknot.
10:45Just couldn't quite get the distance.
10:47What I liked about this.
10:49Have a look at how he judges this.
10:52Excellent from Maxwell.
10:54Kept his composure.
10:56Did it look easy in the end.
10:58Colin Munro.
11:00The new batsman for New Zealand.
11:02Munro.
11:04With a fantastic strike rate.
11:06He's overall in this form of the game.
11:08A strike rate of about 158.
11:09So that's the highest in the team.
11:11Even higher than Guptill.
11:13William Cern operating in the 120s.
11:17But it was a good start from Guptill.
11:19It's certainly the way he plays.
11:21Consistently in this form of the game.
11:23So he's done his job.
11:25And New Zealand are away at this stage.
11:27If they keep going at this rate.
11:29They're looking at 162.
11:30They want to increase that.
11:32And get somewhere around 180 plus.
11:43In the air.
11:44Should be out.
11:45It's a high ball.
11:47And it's taken comfortably.
11:48Agar in the deep.
11:50The youngster.
11:51Getting a fabulous opportunity for his country.
11:53The bowling.
11:54In his over wasn't that flash.
11:56But that was a comfortable catch.
11:58And so another wicket to the Australians.
12:01It's 66 for two.
12:05Another change for New Zealand.
12:07So this works for Australia.
12:09This is Anderson now for New Zealand.
12:11Mitchell Massie is the new bowler for Australia.
12:21And Steve Smith keeping it very many changes.
12:31Just short.
12:32Just short.
12:33It was in the air for a long period of time.
12:36Colton Isle.
12:37It was a good job diving to his right.
12:39Couldn't get there.
12:42My wood.
12:43This would have been dangerous for New Zealand.
12:47Would have been a soft dismissal.
12:48If the catch was taken.
12:50Diving effort.
12:52Mercy V.
12:53It's cool to Nile.
12:54At short cover.
12:59He's Maxwell again.
13:01Use of the feet there.
13:03From Monroe.
13:04We know he's a hitter.
13:05He can get himself going.
13:07To sleep.
13:08I was making the point.
13:09Last over.
13:10Five players from this Australian team.
13:12Making their world T20 debut.
13:14It's Manquaja.
13:15Ashton Aga.
13:17Mitchell Marsh.
13:18Peter Neville.
13:19Adam Zampa.
13:20In the air.
13:21Should be taken.
13:25And he takes it.
13:26It's Aga again.
13:27In the act.
13:28Another big wicket here for Australia.
13:30It's Corey Anderson will be the man.
13:31The fall victim to Maxwell once again.
13:32His second wicket.
13:33For Australia.
13:34This is really proving to be disaster for New Zealand.
13:35Anderson goes for three.
13:3676 for three.
13:37Oh.
13:38Maxwell.
13:39He's that sort of player.
13:40Once he gets involved in the game.
13:41You can't keep him out of it.
13:42Normally it's the bat.
13:43But he's very handy with these offies as well.
13:44Ashton Aga prefers this catching style.
13:45Some don't like it.
13:46But those fingers to the sky.
13:47And it's effective.
13:48If you're taking them, it's effective.
13:49So exactly the same mode of dismissal.
13:50Ashton Aga.
13:51Even though it was the left handers.
13:52So straight in the air.
13:53So it's tailored to the pass marker.
13:54Ashton Aga.
13:55And, right.
13:56To the pass marker.
13:57So that's bad.
13:58If you're taking them.
13:59Number two.
14:00Now, we have three guys.
14:01And N.
14:02One, two, three.
14:03Oh, Maxwell.
14:04Oh, Maxwell.
14:05He's that sort of player.
14:06Once you get involved in the game.
14:07You can't keep him out of it.
14:08Normally it's the bat.
14:09But he's very handy with these offies as well.
14:12Ashton Aga prefers this catching style.
14:13Some don't like it.
14:14But those fingers to the sky.
14:15And it's effective.
14:16is so straight near so it's tailored to the crease now it's definitely not a run out chance it was
14:26a backflip from cool to now yeah you didn't think it would have been a chance but it's been just
14:35humbled through tonight wasn't in a position to make a strong throw may have been a different
14:42result and you get those on the outskirts that aren't in the ground watching so that's what
14:48gets guided it was a reverse guide as well it runs away such as the outfield it's a very short grass
14:57and a smallish ground Craig Cumming has joined me in the commentary box things need to speed up from
15:04a batting point of view you know doing an amazing shot here by Munro went to do the reverse sweep and
15:10it was able to adjust and end up playing a light cut right-handed which shows he was able to watch
15:15the ball hard in the reverse position could be it could be that one what about that strike he's a
15:23clever player that's why he's got a good strike rate but again Munro build the max what Maxwell does as
15:31well so hard to see the field here turns late looks at the open space with it over cover it's just so
15:40hard for a bowler to be able to adapt not putting players in different areas as well played he stayed
15:45nice and low on it yeah and he swaps the hands around so he's actually in the right-handed position
15:51there's a miss I don't know if there was a slight edge on that we'll find out in a moment so buys so
15:58it gets past Pete Neville that's the end of the 13th over it's a good one for New Zealand it's now 96 for
16:04three turn here Neville we brought into the side to be a specialist wicket keeper in these tough
16:18conditions that it will please New Zealand they look at the spin that was there Munro we did drag it to
16:25the leg side swung hard and it did turn extra pace that delivery as well so Marsh continuing start of
16:37the second he went for six in the opening over and a little flick was there they're going up nothing
16:43from the umpire Nigel long certainly didn't hear anything no deflection Warner asking the question at
16:51the end of Nigel long
17:01Nigel long indicated that the back leg Neville didn't go up it's normally a sign Marsh was
17:07interested it's a cracking delivery as a flick to the onside here's another catching opportunity
17:15swallowed in the deep it was a half hit it was a little bit like the shot that Guptill played all
17:22wrists no extension of the arm so bonus for Australia 97 for four New Zealand Munro walks off
17:32frustration looked like another off cutover was and it crooked in the surface and he tried to drag it
17:39from wide and his arms are cramped he wasn't able to get any power this has been created through the
17:44pressure book that takes a simple catch good catch well things are changing for New Zealand you just
17:53felt a little bit momentum coming back into that partnership that Grant Elliott has a job to do
17:58drag to the onside that'll bring up the hundred for New Zealand they were getting there easily but
18:08it's been hard fought for the last 30 40 runs let's have a look at the first wicket to fall
18:12back live inside edge and fall it's a bonus you need them
18:42yeah Elliot walking down the pitch on the move look at the ball it's all beaten up
18:49and inside edge you take these you're actually relieved as a batsman it's like yes finally I'll
18:54get one to the boundary I'll take it anyway not really known to use his feet
18:59slow when he just drags it down it'll be a wide
19:05yeah look especially early on with Martin Guptill and
19:09Kane Williamson that was getting on nicely but it does with the new ball and you got to make the
19:15most of it in the first six overs and New Zealand will be aware of that of the danger that Australia
19:19possesses with their power so they need to be able to get a score that allows them to get off to a
19:23quick start but that has certainly slowed up Australia being very good with their slow
19:28balls it's a score predictor 155 I think New Zealand would take that well it was 168 about a couple
19:34of overs ago so it's sliding down into the deep he's got it right out of the middle of the bat and that
19:41it's gone a long way back and a much needed six for New Zealand well those players you know Ross Taylor and
19:49they know how destructive he can be this is his area many a great innings has been played where he's
19:54able to get across to off stump and get underneath it see him up this time from Watson but he got
20:00underneath the bounce 85 meters that'll warm the hearts of the New Zealand fans because that's Ross
20:06Taylor in this format of the game beautiful stroke very good on the leg side Ross Taylor likes mid wicket
20:21he goes again and out big blow Watson picks up his first one today put it this time straight to
20:32Marsh we couldn't get underneath that Taylor he'd be disappointed couldn't really get going he goes
20:38for 11 New Zealand 117 for five well he's very strong to the leg side Ross Taylor that's his area
20:45but that was a good delivery from what it was full and he just tried to get underneath it
20:50Ross Taylor and he paid the price and Watson well he's ecstatic that's his expression for that one
20:56he just couldn't get underneath it Ross Taylor it's so hard that's the challenge being consistent
21:03just as he looked like he was going to get going
21:07Australia have been able to take wickets at crucial times and that's what's pulled the run
21:12right back as well as the good bowling gives himself some room it'll chase the boundary fork it won't get
21:22it so that's beautiful placement from Elliott and well timed as well well he goes the leg stump which
21:28is one of his favorite options but he was able to let the ball come on to the bat and play it late
21:33got it past that cover fielder once you get it on this outfield it runs away way outside leg so the
21:41ball's turning into a good contact that goes into the deep and what plays just the one bounce
21:48and a boundary for New Zealand at the end of that over 18 gone 129 for five
21:55well it's a good option this time by Elliott because the ball's turning into him in the spin
22:05looking to go more with it it was too short by Marsh it's a better option than looking to charge
22:12the good over 11 off it from New Zealand chipped out over the offside and it falls safe
22:20when you see guys like Luke Ronke he's a natural time of the ball struggling
22:29shows the surface is slowing right up looking at the back of the hand that was the off cutter
22:37that's one of the advantages Faulkner's got to the right hander as he goes across them and looks to go
22:42away see a lot of that from Corey Anderson as well that's it into the deep mid on mid weekend
22:50yes thank you another one goes down in the deep some good bowling from Faulkner make a timing again
22:58from Ronke for the first time we've seen it today he couldn't get underneath it he couldn't get any
23:03power another wicket a good time to get a wicket especially with a power hitter like Ronke goes for
23:08six 133 for six little off cutter a good change of pace for Faulkner and Rocky knew about it straight
23:19away knew he hadn't timed it and some good movement there from Maxwell one of the better fields in the
23:24side make good ground just wonder if looking to go the offsides a better option to Faulkner go with the
23:31spin even if it is a top spinner you can hold your shape and go over cover the strength of both of
23:37those two players different story now with the left hander coming in with Santner good header of the
23:48cricket ball just short of mid off and a very good over that from James Faulkner three overs two for 18
24:03New Zealand 134 for six 134 for six they get off to a really good start New Zealand got to 39 from 27
24:14Williams and 24 from 20 they got out of the blocks early but it's been the procession of wickets
24:20falling that's held them back cool tonight over the last over down wide a bit on they'll try and come back
24:28for two yeah I have to hurry and they do only it might enjoy the extra pace but now it's trying to go
24:40mid wicket there look for him to go to off stump again get right in that box and go over cover as
24:43well field a split wide third man is up on the ring that was the leg side it's the change of pace the look
24:58for two and they'll take it on left to hurry this should be out it doesn't get picked up the throw
25:03wasn't that good well it was struggling here he tried to do the ramp but it was another slab or toe into
25:12he was always struggling because he's off balance when he took off he turned down sort of been a good
25:17throw it's an easy throw from there it's hard disappointed Smith another opportunity just
25:23another run yeah missed opportunity it's a decent field of Glenn Maxwell too you don't often see that
25:29now the good delivery from cool tonight I really held the run right back three balls left 139 on the
25:41board at one stage well I thought it was going to be high 180s to around that 180 to 200 they've done
25:48some very good work the bowlers from Australia
25:51Elliott he's hung tough though 27 off 20 the three deliveries left put an eye about 137k slowest 92
26:05just shows the variation Australian bowlers have used throughout the innings it's working out the field
26:13here to satnik finally it's coming further around quite wide back they're putting a short finally
26:20again 30 yard circle putting them into square leg look from the ball nice and full and straight
26:26maybe an off cutter the third man is up and so is a point on the ring as well so the lack of pace you'd
26:34think with a ball that's gone into the deep and this time it could be a good throw should be out to
26:43dive in there wonderful throw from Glenn Maxwell he missed the one the over before but this one looks
26:50on the money now then we've got a review for this is a great recovery from Maxwell you could give me
26:55your best side of Charlie's yeah that's fine if you can load out please load out
27:05south jet yeah just sure some great work in the field and you had to go for it and there's no doubt
27:18about that it was always probably one and a half runs but the dive didn't quite work which said he
27:24goes for one New Zealand 147 two deliveries left at a mill new batsman starts off the decent strike
27:44it's well fielded in the deep on the bounce the placement had been a little bit better that would
27:51have gone to the fence well batsmen have struggled for timing throughout the innings hit that hard it
27:59was a good effort the other ones that can easily just take in front of you a bounce up and you miss
28:03them but look at the stroke from Maxwell right over the top it's a cracker and there's a reaction
28:12a short delivery minutes thank you thank you very much Pete Neville good change of pace and cool denial
28:22and that wraps up the innings New Zealand 142 hit confirmation on the last week before but some
28:31good bowling from Australia really at the back end of the innings the last 10 overs have been superb
28:35mainly because of Watson Marsh and also Coulton all the seamers have had good change of pace Grant
28:42Elliott 27 run out at the end from 20 deliveries after winning the toss became we lifted and batting first
28:50it's all to go for Australia here can they get up they need a hundred and forty three we back shortly
29:07Kawasha to take the first delivery a little bit of a swing there from Corey Anderson yeah good starts
29:16full delivery in Williamson made some very strong decisions the start of this ICC world t20 accounted
29:26for the success against the favorites India we can make the right decisions on the field Australia will
29:32take a lot of confidence from their recovery after the first six overs we want a good start from their
29:38openers through the lakeside pulled away both when collage or he opens up his account with a boundary
29:47well that was not quite a short delivery just swiveled on it was a length delivery so to speak
29:55Roger he's been in very good form recently hence the reason he got the nod
30:01front of our fridge starts with a boundary but for that looking shot what's indeed whenever you see
30:08this was a rock important easing back and pulling it through the midweek you know that he's got his
30:13eye in early such a natural shot that the pool shot for him picked up the length beautifully
30:20change of pace and that's through we just a single I think the first six overs with the new ball on
30:39this pitch is crucial for Australia I need to get off to good start because as the ball gets softer and
30:44the pitch starts to break up a fraction it'll be the changes of pace that will help New Zealand and
30:51the potency of their spin bowling options the QE's might not be as effective as a nagpur that is a
30:59factor that they will have to adjust to the Australians if they get a good start that run rate is low during
31:05the middle overs you can easily work this thing to remember there's still a David Warner in this batting
31:12lineup it's a powerful player real run getter for Australia Watson's away well that'll be the talking
31:28point too where does David Warner come into this lineup get the feeling you probably come in at four
31:32maybe Stephen Smith at three but no doubt that batting order for Australia will be fluid or move
31:39around depending on the situation of the game 55 matches for Shane Watson just lots and lots of
31:44experience up the top of the order he bowled really well and then he'd love to get this strange after a
31:49good start that man there yeah may came in it may come in at number four through the offside it's a
31:57miss field second boundary for kawaja very classical we'll take this shot in a test match just lent into
32:09it look at this it's all about the timing and placement knee up the middle of the butt the balance from
32:18kawaja it's when you know a batsman is in very good form when the ball's not swinging or seeming you know
32:26you can chance your eye when you're batting it's really come on with his batting in the last two
32:37years it's when kawaja test created 50 over cricket the 2020 cricket just seems to bat the same way in
32:44all forms how about that for confident looking shot again from kawaja decision to pick him again
33:01ahead of Aaron Finch moving to be really a lucrative one for Australia the boundary for him just over mid on
33:11out of the reach that's wide of gully in the third man to what about the pace of which it came up to
33:24bat for kawaja all of a sudden that's his fourth boundary well he's playing well on both sides of the
33:31wickets the boundaries on the outside not to on the offside this one place nicely just evaded backward
33:39point also beats the man a third man on the boundary this is a player in great form kawaja it's wide
33:49enough and it's over the top that was a giving too easy for kawaja the Brendan you call it really on the
33:58offside for this man kawaja you feel this outside the 30-yard circle position that longhorn and deep
34:05midwick it so anything outside out of some there's the batsman a free license so to speak this one
34:12overpitched got the treatment it deserved and he gets out through that eraser by the defense as well
34:22eased it through the cap on the offside Shane Watson that's his first boundary what was nice about this
34:30Shane Watson waited on it didn't really rush to delivery you know there was no protection beyond
34:36the 30-yard circle of the offside what he gets right is the placement that's weighted lack of peace and
34:43excellent shot by Watson that's close it's in front plan again is very confident he can't believe it
34:58Nigel long he wasn't interested straight away Nigel long let's have another look at it
35:12score delivery maybe height over the knee roll deceive playing across the line was it outside off stump
35:23Nigel long says not convinced I think you might have said how far did it go down the leg side there pull
35:32through the onside cannot ball there there was man kawaja six boundaries so far for him this guy he's in a no
35:47nonsense move the watcher very quick on capitalizing anything short nurse in front of square pick the gap
35:56and one leg bit of a deflection there just got on Anderson a bit quicker more of a defending his face if
36:09anything I think he thought Watson had hit this very hard and it was flying back at him probably wasn't
36:16the greatest of timing so he got the hands up and took his eyes off it Watson gives himself a room it's
36:24just dug it out
36:31he's known to take the first wicket Watson's gone for 13 44 for one
36:37Watson trying to give himself a bit of room just dug it out
36:43and in the end a simple catch for the skipper that'll bring a bit of relief the highlights are important
37:01those first three or four overs have been in both innings McLennigan a motion wrong key runs they know
37:08how important that work it is it's like someone just lets the air out of the ball Australia were able to
37:15make the most of it so the Australian captain walks to the crease Stephen Smith coming in at number three
37:22and Smith's away he opens up with a boundary and well timed
37:29this is a lovely shot you just got to watch the way holds his shapes and then pushes his hands he spoke
37:37before this match that he's a timer of the ball and his shape is crucial he was able to do that look at that high elbow
37:44and then he also found the gap which is a sign of a quality player
37:48oh this is out beautiful bowling the skipper goes and Sandler gets his first
37:56well just like in Dagpour
37:58they're able to get the spin the dip and the turn
38:01in a simple dismissal
38:03Rocky takes off the bails and Smith the big wicket of the Australian captain he's run
38:08past one he's stumped Rocky bowled Sadner for six fifty one for two
38:13well Australia are probably used to him giving it more flight and this one turned
38:18he's bowling quicker and flatter and into the pitch and Smith couldn't get there
38:22oh he's an oppressive young man as Mitch Sandner
38:27Smith is disappointed
38:29well I want to come back here from New Zealand Sandner has picked up the wicket
38:32the Australian captain Stephen Smith very similar in his first wicket against India
38:38Rowan Sharma ran down the wicket and missed it
38:40but now it's two left-handers for Australia so that might benefit them in some way with the ball not turning away from the right-hander
38:47right-hander
38:51partnership between Elijah Watson within Watson out to McLean again couldn't get
38:55underneath it now Smith to Santa a lot of work to do now for Elijah down the ground
39:03it was in the air for some time Elijah now you can just notice he's starting to
39:07miss time the ball that was all about timing grace he's got that natural flow in
39:12his batting it's just starting to get a little harder for him there's that slower ball toe
39:20into the bat yeah it's like someone just changes it doesn't it it's like it's got big chunk marks
39:25out of the book surface abrasive
39:33Warner punches it hard
39:35oh it's gonna
39:37he's gone I think he's gone
39:39brilliant fielding
39:41Warner always wanted to
39:43Kawaja
39:45he's not the fastest between the wickets
39:47I think he's been run out
39:49you can have a look at the side on shot
39:51yeah that's fine that's you can load out
39:55out
39:57he is out
39:59Usman Kawaja the man who's been doing all the damage
40:03dear oh dear Australia
40:05what does that mean in the context of this run chase
40:09it definitely will get harder
40:11it definitely will get harder
40:13it is 62 for three
40:15Glen Maxwell
40:17he's coming in at five and here's a man who can come up with all sorts at the crease
40:23there's a good comparison there Australia now ducking under that line of New Zealand
40:27there's Warner's first big shot he's gone straight to the man
40:29oh wow how big a wicket is that
40:33so Dave Warner he comes out at number four for Australia
40:41and it's not working
40:43the first attempt at a big stroke
40:47he could not get hold of it
40:49that big bat of his
40:51was not big enough today
40:53he's gone for six
40:55Australia now reeling at 66 for four
40:57Warner again
41:01again the lack of bounce
41:03Satner come on he's just got the golden touch
41:05he couldn't get underneath it enough
41:07Gupta one of New Zealand's best catchers
41:09takes a simple catch the arms go up
41:11we've seen that a lot this tournament already
41:13starting to think what am I doing
41:15well I've just got to keep doing it
41:17Warner will be disappointed
41:21New Zealand are in familiar territory again
41:23against India it got harder
41:25against Australia it's getting harder
41:27in the middle stages
41:29so Mitchell Marsh is out there
41:31there's nothing wrong with the Australian depth
41:33there's some good hitting very low in the order
41:37Mitchell Marsh is one of those big hitters
41:39but it's the pressure situation now
41:41there's still a run rate required of 7.83
41:45there's no time at all to be messing around
41:49but for a little while the ball has to be
41:51there's no chance to put into the gap
41:53good running
41:55try and gain some momentum
41:57feel like it's starting to get going
41:59here's Dave Warner
42:01that's his first attempt at a big stroke
42:03and he doesn't quite get hold of it
42:05that Clive
42:13yeah being an opener he's so used to being
42:15crisp hitter of the ball
42:17and again it allows New Zealand to go back to their plan A
42:19they're two spinners
42:21to the ball away from the right-hander
42:22they got rid of
42:23Kawaja the run out now they got rid of
42:25the dangerous warn-up
42:27they're able to get two right-handers in
42:29with Satna and Sodi to be able to bowl
42:33Satna
42:35two for three off 1.3
42:37it's not bad figures is it
42:39what is that one that turns again
42:43turning into the onside
42:45there's no mid wicket so Maxwell can
42:47see all that land
42:49and an easy singer actually played outside the line of it
42:53Sandler is the man two for four and has very much changed it
42:59but there's been some really good support now
43:03and his batting gets very hard
43:09well there's the four it's an inside edge I'm not sure that it's gonna make him feel like he's in a groove
43:15it's nearly hit leg stump
43:17and a long way from the middle of the bat
43:20again he's trying to hit the ball out of the ground where
43:24every batsman so far
43:26in the match today
43:28has fallen short
43:30when they've tried to hit the ball
43:32into the stands
43:34Ronke diving away desperately
43:36trying to get a glove on it
43:38just couldn't get there
43:40so Maxwell's keeping us on the edge of our seats
43:46there he goes again there he goes again two in a row the inside edge he's playing for it maybe
43:56he goes the same way with the feet so he clears that front leg and it's a big arc so he's either gonna hit it over an extra cover or mid off or the onside but it's the inside edge same ball slow ball same result
44:12yeah we're obviously missing something here he's he's developed a shot that we uh haven't anticipated
44:18he's thinking
44:24well
44:26as I said oh I reckon he makes batting hard
44:28well the thing is is that just for those looking with you know
44:32bemusement with this situation but Maxwell's thinking I'm assuming is that
44:38he's trying to hit with a spin
44:40so playing through the leg side against the spins difficult but turning around
44:45well he's hit that and he's hit it long
44:49so that's Mitchell Marsh that's it
44:51at his best that's what he does so well he's a power player
44:55he can be one pace but if he's one pace like that
44:58he'll bring Australia home
45:02in a hurry
45:04he's a brood of a man and there you go 101 meters he's got every bit of this
45:11right up into the stands
45:14the good thing there for Australia is Santner hadn't been hit no one had taken him down
45:19until then
45:21Santner drags that one down so all of a sudden he's asked the question
45:26and it'll affect his length and what he's thinking so Mitchell Marsh that's a big moment
45:40Williamson's been clever he's mixed his bowling around
45:43that'll be the hundred up for Australia
45:48it's still a tricky formula it'll be down to the wire this match it's an absolute beauty between New Zealand and Australia the arch rivals
45:58Maxwell he sliced it he sliced it big time and he's on his way back to the pavilion
46:13it has been a very interesting innings we often see it from Glenn Maxwell not many out of the middle
46:19he's played every shot in the bull
46:21but he sliced it straight up in the air that was not going to be dropped
46:27so it makes the task even more difficult for Australia he's gone for 22
46:33100 for five Australia
46:40looking to lift this over deep bit off just losing the shape and getting underneath it and slicing it as well
46:48and Williamson he's got a safe pair of hands and a nerve to match
46:54sees the end of the dangerous Maxwell
47:01Ashton Agar on debut in LCC World 2020
47:06he's a surprise selection you'd have to say
47:09there's no doubt when he was included a lot of people in Australia thought
47:12well he hasn't taken a lot of wickets in the big bash in Australia
47:17only three
47:18he has scored runs domestically and he needs to score runs now
47:23it's a fabulous opportunity for him
47:26so Australia got a lot of work to do
47:2942 still required off 24 balls
47:36oh there it is
47:38Marsh
47:40showing his power down the ground for six more
47:43now Mitchell Sandner in the last match talked about bowling fast and into the pitch
47:48this time
47:50he just
47:52looped it up trying to get a bit of flight to guile but it was a half volley
47:56Mitchell Marsh is too good to miss out on that
48:00brute of a shot
48:04nicely paid just knocking it into the gap into cover for one
48:11just going back to that last point about Ashton Agar
48:15he hasn't had a great match
48:17so where is his confidence
48:19that's the shot again
48:21Mitchell Marsh
48:22that's the second one he's played off Mitchell Sandner
48:25and some
48:27disappointed but that man will be happy
48:31Agar wants a piece
48:36and he's got a piece
48:38six for him to finish the over
48:4017 gone
48:42it's 116 for five
48:47so with a couple of sixes off the last over
48:49it's just made things a little bit easier for Australia
48:5227 required off
48:5318 balls
48:54but still
48:55the game
48:56in the balance
48:57Sodie
48:58looking for two
49:01and deciding against
49:09has he got enough of it
49:11no
49:12he's going to be out caught
49:13yes it is
49:14so the very first ball
49:15of the second last over
49:17the big wicketer Marsh
49:19has been taken
49:22McLennigan slow ball again
49:24122 kilometres an hour
49:25New Zealanders
49:27happy bunch as you'd expect
49:30the inform
49:32Mitch Marsh has made this an interesting contest
49:36but he's out now for 24
49:38121 for six
49:39well I called for James Faulkner
49:42and here he is
49:45the finisher
49:46so many times before for Australia
49:48he has been the man
49:50he's going to need to pull it out of the fire again
49:52can he deliver he's already got two
49:57swing and a miss
50:01well another slower ball
50:06Faulkner looking to heave that to leg
50:08brilliant again from Mitch McLennigan
50:12learning from the Australians in the first innings
50:15banging it into the pitch hard
50:16and you cannot trust the bounce and the way it's coming off the surface
50:21big question for me
50:22who does Williamson turn to for the 20th
50:26Corey Anderson
50:27maybe
50:28Adam Milne
50:29they'll pick up one not convincing
50:36to answer your question
50:38I'll ask you one back
50:40who bowls the best slow ball
50:42oh agar has he got enough
50:48no he's caught
50:49brilliantly caught
50:51tail of a man
50:52running around to the left
50:53diving away
50:55taking a good catch
50:56in the outfield
50:58and another slow ball
51:00this time the little leg spinner
51:02Agar mistimes it
51:04another batsman caught in the outfield
51:06Australia seven down
51:10the other set batsman
51:12Ashton Agar out for nine
51:13one twenty three for seven
51:15Nathan Coulton
51:21the strike bowler
51:24he's a capable batsman
51:25a healthy strike greater one twenty two
51:27he needs to do some striking here
51:30he's away straight away
51:34he could get two but not
51:37thought it was running a little bit
51:40further away
51:44what an excellent over
51:46it's a hundred and twenty four
51:48the seven
51:53good over a little bit of dismissal
51:55not far away again
51:56a lot of batsmen only a couple of meters away
51:59trying to help it on its way
52:01use whatever pace there was
52:02to flick it over the leg side
52:04the whole Australian dugout
52:07hoping Taylor would put that down
52:09a lot of work
52:11six balls nineteen needed
52:13James Faulkner has only faced three balls
52:18what has he got?
52:19has he got enough of this?
52:22it's not going to go to the boundary
52:24it's going to be caught by Guptor
52:25brilliantly in the outfield
52:26New Zealand strike again
52:28another outfield catch and the closers walking back
52:35James Faulkner couldn't get going
52:38tough for any new batsman to start on this wicket
52:41high fives all round
52:43they know they have almost completed the job
52:47Faulkner out for two
52:48one twenty four for eight
52:49called mile down the ground
52:55again no timing
52:56Peter Neville the new batsman
52:59is going to be on strike with a huge mountain to climb
53:02and there's a few out here to climb
53:04this is the Faulkner dismissal off the bottom of the bat
53:10and go up to a pretty comfortable catch for someone of her skills
53:17and McLennigan he started it the last over
53:19he dismissed both set batsmen
53:21Mitchell Marsh and Ashton Agar
53:23New Zealand fans quite rightly are happy at the moment
53:29at the moment 18 though off four balls
53:31that's a big ask
53:33a big big ask
53:34Neville not known for his
53:37boundary hitting
53:38what has he got
53:41has he got enough for this one
53:42it's going to creep over
53:44yes it is
53:45it's six
53:46the unexpected man
53:48finds the boundary
53:50he hasn't got any power you say
53:52he's one of the few that put them over the ropes
53:55their game isn't over
54:01what is it with these two teams
54:03they always seem to get into a position where it's so tight
54:07Santner
54:10fingertips
54:11just couldn't get enough on it
54:13and see Martin Guptill too
54:14yelling at him
54:15I'm here
54:16if you need me
54:17if you can just parry it back
54:18this is a big ball this one
54:20this is a big ball this one
54:21oh it's club down the ground
54:26only going to get one called mile
54:28you'd assume would prefer to be on strike
54:31more known for his big hitting
54:34Neville's done a good job though
54:36two balls for seven for him
54:38oh he's chopped it on so there it is
54:47Anderson does the job holds his nerve
54:51smiles all round for New Zealand
54:55that's a celebration for the New Zealanders
55:01the one man who could do it the power of Nathan Coulton Isle
55:04he's out for one just one ball left now 132 for nine
55:08there it is
55:14Zampa just hitting it into space on the offside for one
55:17looking for two
55:19but
55:21it was inevitable the outcome
55:23it's New Zealand's day
55:25they have outplayed Australia
55:28they've played the conditions here at Durham Salah
55:31better than Australia
55:32they've read the conditions with bat and ball
55:35they've combined well as a unit
55:38they've been exceptionally well led by Kane Williamson
55:41so they'll be thrilled
55:43they've played two and won two
55:46so there it is
55:49a New Zealand winning by eight runs
55:52in a closely fought contest here in Durham Salah
55:57and it's a good night from Durham Salah
56:00where we've had New Zealand beating Australia
