00:00At about 9.50pm yesterday evening, Saturday the 4th of October, two people wearing dark clothing and face coverings were seen approaching the front door of the Peacehaven Mosque in Phyllis Avenue.
00:11Footage shows the individuals spraying accelerants on the front entrance of the building and the vehicle parked nearby before igniting it.
00:18Emergency services from Sussex Police and East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene promptly and were able to extinguish the fire.
00:26Fortunately, those inside were not injured, but significant damage was caused to the mosque and the vehicle.
00:32Detectors will be relentless in investigating this incident and we are continuing to pursue all lines of inquiry to identify the two people in the footage.
00:41One individual was wearing a very distinctive black jacket with a white pre-logo on it.
00:46The second individual was wearing distinctive red gloves.

01:08In response to this incident, there will be an increased police presence in Peacehaven and additional patrols taking place at places of worship across Sussex.
