00:14Magistrate N. Sivashangari issued the remand order on Sunday, which runs until October

00:208, to facilitate investigations under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18A of the

00:28Domestic Violence Act .

00:31According to sources, the incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Saturday after the 57-year-old

00:37victim found a cigarette box, believed to belong to her husband, containing a glass tube, dried

00:43leaves suspected to be cannabis, and a small packet of a substance believed to be methamphetamine.

00:50When the man realized the drugs were missing, a heated argument broke out.

00:54He allegedly grabbed his wife by the neck and pressed a pillow over her face.

00:58The suspect later found the box inside the victim's handbag and left the hotel.

01:03He returned at about 11.30 a.m., wrapped the dried leaves and smoked them while drinking

01:09alcohol in front of his wife.

01:11Another quarrel ensued, during which the man allegedly slapped the victim, punched her multiple

01:16times in the stomach and lifted her towards the balcony as if to throw her off.

01:21The victim, who sustained injuries to her face, neck, abdomen and arms, sought treatment

01:26at Hospital Melaka before lodging a police report at the Bandahilir police station the same day.

01:33Following the report, the suspect was arrested and tested positive for cannabis.
