00:00:00Oh, look at that!
00:00:01Oh, look at that!
00:00:02It's absolutely phenomenal!
00:00:04Rudy!
00:00:07Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:00:30Good evening.
00:00:50Just the five games to bring you on tonight's Match of the Day,
00:00:53but an important one perhaps in the early stages of the title race.
00:00:57And there's a decent front two in the studio to talk us through it all.
00:01:00Just the 468 Premier League goals between Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney.
00:01:06To Stamford Bridgeland.
00:01:07Chelsea, who've lost their last two in the league against Liverpool,
00:01:10beaten at Crystal Palace last weekend
00:01:12before defeat at Galatasaray on Tuesday night in the Champions League.
00:01:16Commentary comes from Steve Wilson.
00:01:20Near the Chelsea nor Liverpool would find defeat today very palatable.
00:01:24It's an outcome which would leave the Blues ten points behind the Reds.
00:01:28Or it could be back-to-back league defeats for Liverpool
00:01:31for the first time under honour slot.
00:01:33Injuries haven't helped Chelsea, but they're neither of suspensions.
00:01:37And his red card against Brighton keeps Trevor Chalaba out today.
00:01:41One of three dismissals in their last four games.
00:01:44Three changes to the game against Benfica, James Atchampong and João Pedro coming in.
00:01:50For Liverpool, Gheorghe Marmodash really makes his first Premier League start.
00:01:54In for the injured Alisson.
00:01:56The other changes to the Galatasaray defeat.
00:01:59See Frimpong, Wirtz, Eketike and Jones on the bench.
00:02:02In come Bradley, McAllister, Salah and Isak.
00:02:06Well, that's not where Van Dijk wanted it.
00:02:24Gusta.
00:02:28Gusta.
00:02:40Caicedo getting away from Alexis McAllister,
00:02:43and in behind that Liverpool back line, and what a goal that is!
00:02:46Oh, that's an absolute beauty from Caicedo.
00:02:51Well, he has that in his locker.
00:02:54Well, the minute he got away from Alexis McAllister here,
00:02:57you thought it might be on.
00:02:59And he took it on, and how?
00:03:01Chelsea 1, Liverpool 0.
00:03:04A rocket from Caicedo.
00:03:07Now, Marmodash really got a little finger to it.
00:03:10And that is nigh on unsaveable.
00:03:16Here's Gakpo after a misjudgment from Rhys James.
00:03:23He finds Isak.
00:03:33Gakpo.
00:03:35And Somerslai, surely it's blocked.
00:03:38Well, it's a great chance.
00:03:40Here's Gakpo, the offside flag's gone up, though.
00:03:44That's a big opportunity for Liverpool to equalise very quickly,
00:03:48having fallen behind.
00:03:50Good ball!
00:03:55Pedro Neto got the better of Milos Kierkez.
00:03:58Now, four forward for Chelsea, five back for Liverpool.
00:04:02Pedro Neto running at Virgil van Dijk,
00:04:05and getting round van Dijk.
00:04:07Canate covering Chelsea corner.
00:04:10Gusto for Cucurella.
00:04:26And Garnaccio, not far wide.
00:04:29Nicely worked corner kick.
00:04:32Well hit by Garnaccio.
00:04:34Garnaccio's got him behind.
00:04:39Soppa slide.
00:04:40That could be a penalty.
00:04:41Anthony Taylor says no.
00:04:43Well, big, big appeals.
00:04:46Anthony Taylor has said no.
00:04:48Craig Pawson and the VAR team will be looking at this.
00:04:52Well, Craig Pawson has looked at it, and it will not be a penalty.
00:05:02And Anthony Taylor is coming over to the Chelsea bench here.
00:05:07Enzo Mareska has been shown a yellow card.
00:05:17Liverpool have brought on Florian Wetz and taken off Conor Bradley.
00:05:23Soppa slide right back as Wetz finds Gatpo.
00:05:26And back into Florian Wetz.
00:05:28And if that reaches Salah, it's brilliant.
00:05:30And he's put it wide.
00:05:32Well, it's a contender for Liverpool's best attack of the game so far.
00:05:37And it comes in the first few seconds of the second period.
00:05:40And Florian Wetz, that's a great little flick into Salah.
00:05:45McAllister gets Salah running in behind.
00:05:52Badia Shield.
00:05:53Isak, Florian Wetz and Gatpo are getting forward.
00:05:57Salah cuts inside as he does, but misses the target.
00:06:05Chelsea with Badia Shield down at the moment.
00:06:08Now this is going to be interesting because Lavia is coming on.
00:06:18Badia Shield is unable to continue.
00:06:22Not a straight swap.
00:06:25So it looks like Malagusta goes to right-back.
00:06:29Rhys James to central defender alongside Achimpong.
00:06:35And it looks like Liverpool's back four is going to be Soberslay, Gravenberg, Van Dijk and Robertson.
00:06:48Here's Salah.
00:06:54Took a little flick off Cucurella and Gatpo scores for Liverpool.
00:06:59Somewhat against the run of play over the last five or ten minutes or so,
00:07:03but Liverpool are level.
00:07:05Dominic Soberslay's cross here took a flick off Mark Cucurella.
00:07:10And it was just touched by Isak into the path of Gatpo,
00:07:16who gleefully rattled it home.
00:07:20A delightfully deft touch from Alexander Isak.
00:07:24Fell beautifully for Gatpo and it's one each.
00:07:26Ryan Gravenberg for Liverpool.
00:07:36They've got four up here.
00:07:38Florian Vert plays it through to Salah.
00:07:40Gatpo's in the middle.
00:07:41Mohamed Salah!
00:07:42Well, that is a very strange effort.
00:07:44Flag has gone up, actually.
00:07:45It wouldn't have counted.
00:07:47Chelsea might have another defensive issue here.
00:07:54And Atchampong is going to be replaced here by Jarell Harto.
00:08:03Gusto James.
00:08:04Good ball by Rhys James.
00:08:09Good ball by Rhys James.
00:08:10Here's Gittens for Chelsea.
00:08:13Cutting inside of...
00:08:15Soberslay pushed away by Marmadashvili, collected by Esteval.
00:08:19Curling and chipped around.
00:08:26Well, I'm not sure if it was heading in, but Marmadashvili wasn't sure either.
00:08:32Super effort by Esteval.
00:08:35Could save that.
00:08:38And that wasn't too bad either.
00:08:42Paicedo.
00:08:43Esteval.
00:08:44Esteval.
00:08:45E.
00:08:46E.
00:08:48E.
00:08:49Enzo Fernandes with a great run.
00:08:50E.
00:08:51E.
00:08:52E.
00:08:53E.
00:08:54E.
00:08:55E.
00:08:56E.
00:08:57E.
00:08:58E.
00:08:59E.
00:09:00E.
00:09:01E.
00:09:02E.
00:09:03E.
00:09:04E.
00:09:05E.
00:09:06E.
00:09:07E.
00:09:08E.
00:09:09E.
00:09:10E.
00:09:11E.
00:09:12Lavia, Cucurella, Gittins, Enzo Fernandes, oh sneaked into Cucurella, Esteval, surely
00:09:36wins the game for Chelsea. The teenage Brazilian comes of age at Stamford Bridge with a late,
00:09:45late winning goal, his first for the club. Onside, Mark Cucurella, no question about that.
00:09:54And Esteval scores. And I believe that Enzo Mureska has been dismissed for this. Already
00:10:10had a yellow card. Liverpool lose in London again. Three defeats in a week for Arnazlotside.
00:10:18Chelsea two, Liverpool one. Willy, firstly, we just have to explain why we're speaking
00:10:25to you and not Enzo. That's because of the red card. Of course, he can't do the TV.
00:10:29Yeah, yeah. Unfortunately, what happened? But we all understand the emotion of the game
00:10:36and the situation in the last second, how we score. And so lovely to see a teenage boy,
00:10:42a young Brazilian kid. Just so delighted with that winning goal. I mean, a massive moment
00:10:48for Esteval. Not just for him, it's for the whole squad. We've got a very young squad that
00:10:54had to learn through games. And for Esteval, this moment will be unforgettable for us also.
00:11:00It's a really good moment. Close margins, like last season. And that's the same for the last
00:11:06two games we've played. I think in both games, we've created more chances, goal-scoring opportunities
00:11:13than the teams we faced with Palace and Chelsea. But the truth is that we've only scored in
00:11:21both games one time and our opponent scored in both games twice.
00:11:24Well, both these teams came into this one really needing a win. So how did Chelsea manage
00:11:30to exploit Liverpool down the flank's way?
00:11:31I think Liverpool, it's a clear problem they've got in the right-back area. And I think if
00:11:38you look, Bradley's come off twice in the last two league games at half-time. They've tried
00:11:45Sobislai in there at times and it hasn't really worked for him. And Frimpong was on the bench
00:11:50today and didn't get on. So they've tried three full-backs in seven league games. So I think
00:11:56Chelsea have seen that and they've exploited it. So I think if you watch here, Cucurea and
00:12:05Gernaccio, they're in really good positions. And Bradley makes the wrong decision in going
00:12:09to Cucurea. And then you've got Marasca. You can see him telling Sanchez to put the ball
00:12:14in behind Bradley, which then it causes Liverpool a big problem. Canarte gets dragged out of position.
00:12:20Colin Bradley's trying to recover and trying to recover in time. But it put Chelsea in a real
00:12:25dangerous position. And now as they're trying to recover the positions, they're Liverpool back
00:12:30forward all over the place. And then you've got Van Dijk steps out. And if that pass is a little
00:12:36bit better, there's a massive space for Pedro in the middle of the goal to have a tap in. So that
00:12:41was a warning sign. And then again here, now you've got Gernaccio. He faces Bradley up. Salah's
00:12:47no interest in tracking back to help him out. And Bradley, he's trying to do his best to get to
00:12:52Chelsea players. And ultimately, it leads in him getting a yellow card, which I'm sure that was a big,
00:12:57big factor in why he got subbed off at half-time. And again here, different, different players, but the
00:13:03same, same again. Sobislai gets dragged out into Cucurea. Now it's Gravenberg at centre-back. He gets
00:13:10isolated. Now he's one-on-one with Gernaccio. And then a little bit of care. Chelsea maybe have a goal.
00:13:16And then this is Mo Salah. I think he's with Cucurea. He has to stay with him because this was a
00:13:21problem. Chelsea can see that. They've exploited it. He's no interest in really tracking back. It's a
00:13:27lazy jog. Then he stops. Cucurea keeps going. And now from being together, there's a big 20-yard gap.
00:13:34And this was a problem all afternoon for Liverpool. And now the other side. It goes to Estevão.
00:13:45Salah, again, is in a position where he needs to get back and he needs to connect with his midfield
00:13:50players. But he doesn't. And Chelsea have got big overload. Estevão sees that. Enzo makes a run in
00:13:56off the back of Sobislai now. Where Mo Salah, I think he's not even close enough to shout to tell
00:14:01Sobislai. And then the goal. The winning goal. Again, Cucurea making four runs. Salah's
00:14:07no interest in getting back. Van Dijk is with his man. Robertson's got his hands on his knees.
00:14:12I don't know if he's got a knock or he's tired. Estevão's in a good position at the back.
00:14:18Van Dijk leaves his man. Tires to play offside. And Robertson is unaware of what's behind him.
00:14:23And Estevão gets the winning goal. So I think it was a big problem for Liverpool. Not just
00:14:27tonight, but throughout the season. Do you know you mentioned Salah there? I know you can basically
00:14:31get away with what you want when you're scoring 25 or 30 goals. But Salah has no interest in
00:14:36tracking back anyway. So what's the difference from him last season to this season that they're
00:14:40not getting away with it this season? I think last season they were consistent in the team.
00:14:45They were consistent in the midfield. They had the three in midfield. And they were very
00:14:49difficult to play against. And that helped. That midfield shuffled across and helped Salah
00:14:53out a lot. Where this season they've played the two in midfield. They've had work in front
00:14:56of that. And today was the first time they've gone back to a three. So maybe it was a bit
00:15:00unfamiliar for the midfield this season. And it's took them a bit more time than they
00:15:04thought to fix that. It was a really good game. And it got better and better as the
00:15:07game went on. And Chelsea were very impressive. Moises Caicedo particularly so.
00:15:12It was a gigantic midfield performance. It really was. It had absolutely everything.
00:15:17It had a bit of Frank Lampard. It had a bit of N'Golo Kante. He was just absolutely
00:15:21sensationally. Covered every bit of grass that he could. And of course the goal topped it
00:15:27off. I mean there's no goalkeeper in the world that's going to save this. But the way he
00:15:33makes and creates space for himself. They did this most of the afternoon. It's actually
00:15:38made it difficult for Liverpool's midfield to get near him. But that touch to get away
00:15:43from McAllister. And then the technique there. As I said there's no one stopping that. The
00:15:49power behind that is incredible. And the direction of it is perfect. I said the midfield. It just
00:15:55had everything this performance from him. It had the goal. It had protection in front
00:15:59of his back. Back four. Don't forget the injuries and suspensions that they've got Chelsea. So
00:16:05they needed him in that midfield to stand up. The composure. Not under pressure at all.
00:16:10To play the passes like that. Then to set Chelsea on the way in the final third again. And then
00:16:16same again. Protection. Timing of the tackle was absolutely superb. And spot on most of the
00:16:22afternoon. And then very nearly again. He had the shot again. It's a decent saver. But
00:16:28he's having the pop. And this is in the last minute of the game basically. Protecting that
00:16:34goal again. That win again. And he was just. It had everything. The midfield performance
00:16:39had everything from him. And that's not just today. That's all season by the way in midfielders.
00:16:45So it was almost near on perfect performance from a midfielder. Mariska got two yellows.
00:16:51Got sent off eventually for celebrating his second yellow. But you can't blame him. A week
00:16:55ago he was allegedly under a lot of pressure and might have lost his job had he not had
00:16:59a win in the Champions League midweek. I know the laws and the rules but come on. You've
00:17:04just scored a brilliant late goal. Your team has been superb for you under huge pressure.
00:17:09And he gets a yellow card for showing that emotion. I don't get it. OK. Leeds haven't lost
00:17:15a league game at Elland Road in over a year. Visitors Tottenham have come from behind to
00:17:20draw their last two in the Premier League and did the same in the Champions League in Norway
00:17:24on Tuesday. Your commentator is Guy Mowbrie.
00:17:27Will this be the day of Dominic Calvert-Lewin's first home goal for Leeds? He put three pass
00:17:33furs in his Everton days including one in January that was his final goal for them. He plays in
00:17:39a Leeds team unchanged for the fourth Premier League match in a row. Whilst the visitors' side shows
00:17:44six changes from Tuesday at Bodo glimped, with Xavi Simons amongst those back in, it surely
00:17:49won't be long before he's on the score sheet for Thomas Franks Tottenham.
00:17:53Okafor.
00:17:58Stopped in his tracks by Pedro Poro. Leeds free kick. It's been a really bright lead start.
00:18:06They've been on top.
00:18:13He's on the move here. Oh, it's Rodan at the back and he's in the post.
00:18:17Vicario's struggling to get anywhere near it.
00:18:20Scored against Bournemouth and look how close he is to scoring against Spurs, his old club.
00:18:25Mark has forgotten what it's like to lose a league game at Elland Road.
00:18:32It was 14th of September last year and Burnley won 1-0 here.
00:18:38Darlow.
00:18:40Goodmanson advancing, just hoping for an error of judgement from Pedro Poro, but it didn't come.
00:18:46And that might mean there's a big gap where the left-back used to be.
00:18:52And that's Mattis Tell, oh, there was a gap, and he found it.
00:18:58That's a brilliant finish from Mattis Tell.
00:19:01Takes a big deflection, I'm sure of it.
00:19:04Was that the crucial factor in Tell putting Spurs in front?
00:19:09His first goal of the Premier League season.
00:19:14He's onside, there's no problem with that.
00:19:18Strouck is back to bar his way.
00:19:20And then it comes off the Leeds number five.
00:19:24And it goes looping over a helpless Carl Darlow.
00:19:28It's one for Thomas Frank to celebrate happily.
00:19:31Leeds nil, Spurs one.
00:19:39Oh, given away, Calvert-Lewin's got a big chance here.
00:19:44But he can't take it.
00:19:47Let off for Spurs, big warning for them.
00:19:50Calvert-Lewin made to hurry his finish ultimately.
00:19:53There's two things at fault there.
00:19:55Spurs for allowing it to happen in the first place when one nil up.
00:19:59Leeds for letting them off the hook.
00:20:01Now here comes Spurs on the break and look at the numbers they've got over.
00:20:04It's Kudos!
00:20:06And he has really made a mess of that.
00:20:09Udogi leading the charge here.
00:20:11Playing the ball across to an unmarked Mohamed Kudas.
00:20:14Never mind Kudas could have, he should have.
00:20:21Bogle.
00:20:22That's a good ball.
00:20:23It was just behind Calvert-Lewin.
00:20:25It's a good strike for Aronson.
00:20:26And it's a tap-in for Okafor.
00:20:31Spurs players look across to the assistant referee Ian Hutton.
00:20:35The man in the middle, Tom Bramble, looked across to Ian Hutton as well.
00:20:40Okafor is minded to celebrate the goal fully.
00:20:45It's a good strike from Aronson.
00:20:47It's actually the second touch by Vicario that's really unlucky.
00:20:52There, that one.
00:20:53And we have a foreign object on the field.
00:20:57It's Sundan Liverpool from all those years ago all over again,
00:21:00although this time that definitely didn't play a part.
00:21:03It's 1-1 at Elland Road.
00:21:05Dogey.
00:21:14Seamans.
00:21:15And help from Bogle lifts it forward,
00:21:17and off the bar from Matthies Tell.
00:21:21Tell so close to two goals.
00:21:24Another bear with the lift into the box.
00:21:26Tells there to get a firm head to the ball.
00:21:30Stack.
00:21:35Okafor.
00:21:38Take on Pedro Poro,
00:21:39and play it across to Calvin Lewin!
00:21:41That's a good save.
00:21:45Stack.
00:21:47Long stack.
00:21:52Stack sets himself to cross.
00:21:54Bogle didn't get the flick.
00:21:55And it beat Calvin Lewin in the middle,
00:21:57and it beat Okafor at the back post too.
00:22:02Anton Stack just pleading for anybody to get something on the end of that.
00:22:07As far as Italian goalkeeper,
00:22:08he will be 29 on Tuesdays,
00:22:10he's approaching peak years.
00:22:13Demonstrating it again here.
00:22:15Not a bear.
00:22:18Pedro Poro.
00:22:19Could have advanced if he wanted to.
00:22:22He's got it again now.
00:22:23Stroke a good luck there,
00:22:24and he's caught late.
00:22:25It will be a free kick for Spurs.
00:22:29And Perdue the offender.
00:22:33And we've got caution for it.
00:22:37This is being looked at,
00:22:39with a view to a possible upgrade from yellow to red.
00:22:41I don't think it'll happen.
00:22:43And in fact it has now been described as,
00:22:45yes, confirmation,
00:22:46a reckless tackle.
00:22:47So that's yellow.
00:22:49Will Spurs go low or high?
00:22:51Will they score?
00:22:52It's all about to be answered.
00:22:55Maybe Siemens leaves it for Kudos.
00:22:59In the end they did nothing.
00:23:02The rain now is probably at the heaviest it's been all afternoon.
00:23:10Poro.
00:23:11It comes off Gudmundsson and Kudos is onto it.
00:23:16Mohamed Kudos has the chance now,
00:23:18and it's in!
00:23:20It's his first Spurs goal.
00:23:26He's taken centre stage, but so has Pascal Stroke.
00:23:30Because for the second time this afternoon,
00:23:32the ball's deflected into the Leeds net off the Leeds defender.
00:23:36Gudmundsson was the player caught cold by Kudos.
00:23:38Stroke's just trying to do what he tried to do before,
00:23:41blocked the shot.
00:23:44And for the second time today,
00:23:45it didn't make any difference.
00:23:47Leeds one, Tottenham two.
00:23:49Ottenham two.
00:23:58Javi Siemens.
00:24:00This could be brilliant from back to front for Spurs.
00:24:03Siemens across to Kudos.
00:24:06Javi Siemens.
00:24:07Now Pedro Poro arrives.
00:24:10Well, every touch was nice until the crucial one at the end.
00:24:13And Javi Siemens is today adding that little bit of creativity
00:24:16that's maybe been missing for Spurs too often this season.
00:24:20Without James Madison, without Dejan Kuliszewski.
00:24:22I wonder if we're starting to see signs of Spurs just,
00:24:27maybe of their own volition, sitting back a little.
00:24:31Tanaka.
00:24:33Longstaff!
00:24:35Well, that sizzled wide.
00:24:38The ball went the direction you maybe might expect it to,
00:24:41just following the trajectory of his turn.
00:24:44Turn and fire, but fire wide.
00:24:46When it comes, if it comes, Leeds absolutely must make the next chance count.
00:24:52Carlo able to come a long way with that.
00:24:56Calvert-Lewin.
00:24:58That's Pirou!
00:25:00Saved by Vicario and it might be a match-winning save.
00:25:04Super leap from Calvert-Lewin.
00:25:07Pirou did really well with it because he didn't have much time at all to react.
00:25:11Nor did Vicario, top stop.
00:25:13We needed a win, I think, the last three games definitely a draw.
00:25:18So that feeling to get over the line to get three points I thought was big.
00:25:24But also in respect for Leeds and Ellen Road.
00:25:30We haven't lost here more than a year.
00:25:32So I'm very aware, we are very aware of the task ahead of us
00:25:35and that we overcome that in a very good way.
00:25:39Matisse, first goal in the Premier League this season.
00:25:40How does it feel to be on the winning side here?
00:25:43For sure, I'm very happy about my first goal.
00:25:47And I always say that with the team we work a lot this week
00:25:51and I deserve this goal and I'm very happy about it.
00:25:55What does that goal mean for Mohamed Koudas?
00:25:57He's had to wait for it, he's had to work for it.
00:25:58Yeah, I think I was so happy for him, scoring that goal because of course obviously he wanted it.
00:26:05And then not only scoring a goal, he's scoring the winner in a tight away win and a good goal.
00:26:11So I'm really pleased with that.
00:26:12Today we are disappointed but of course that we are capable to be in all aspects really the better side against such a top class side and the side who can bring so much quality in.
00:26:21So it says a lot about my team and that we are on the right path.
00:26:25It was another top performance of my lads and so we could go in exactly in this way.
00:26:28Alan, you were impressed with Spurs quick, slick attacking play today.
00:26:34Yeah, I was because they were under pressure at times from Leeds and it was always going to be a really tough game there.
00:26:41But I thought particularly on the turnover transition, once they won that ball, their attitude to get the ball forward as quick as possible has ultimately helped them win the game.
00:26:50And that's the reason why they won the game. Their forward positions, their forward players I should say I thought were very good.
00:26:58And this is a great example of winning the ball back and straight away forward pass into the final third and saying to the forward players go and do your stuff.
00:27:06Telled us exactly that. What a great attitude after he'd been left out of the Champions League squad to prove a point to today that his attitude is absolutely right.
00:27:13Same thing again. From defensive, Udogio I thought was fantastic as well. Defensive area straight in to forward positions and that should be hitting the target at least anyway.
00:27:25Again, forward pass. Look at the energy, look at the application for forward to get into those forward positions.
00:27:31I mean, I don't know what Xavi Simmonds is trying to do here. It's a simple pass with the left foot rather than the back flick but I suppose the confidence was high.
00:27:38Poro in behind but again, and Kudos gets his goal. He's made a great start to his Spurs career and he deserved this goal because he's been Spurs' best player this season.
00:27:48Again, a little bit of deflection but look from the goalkeeper, within three or four seconds you've gone from the keeper into the final third.
00:27:57They're all running forward, they're all having the energy to do it and the run from Poro, as we saw from Udogio, he wasn't shy in doing that also.
00:28:03And again, that should be better. But it was their attitude and with playing in the Champions League away from home and going to Leeds at lunchtime on Saturday morning, you know you're in for a tough game.
00:28:15So, as well as getting forward quickly, I was so impressed with the attitude from Spurs players as well.
00:28:20There's a grittiness, there's a resilience that we're seeing. Absolutely, and that's what would have pleased Thomas Frank.
00:28:24Yeah, and that was lovely there wasn't it, Frank with Kudos, because when you've signed for £55 million, you might be doing lots of amazing things and as Alan said, arguably Spurs' best player, getting that goal will just feel fantastic to him tonight.
00:28:36I think he's been a breath of fresh air. I think you look at the stats from today's game, he's first in duels, won successful dribbles, shots, touches in opposition to box, sprints and he's had a real impact for Tottenham this season.
00:28:51He's got four assists this season, joined first in the Premier League. He's by far had the most successful dribbles in the league. So, all of what was missing was the goal and I think that goal today will push him on that next step now and he's been a real top signing.
00:29:08This was another really great entertaining match, wasn't it? And Leeds played their part in that and as Daniel Farker said, they were ahead on things like possession, expected goals but it's that final product, isn't it? That they're just missing that goal scorer.
00:29:20It is and I think Leeds were very unlucky today to come away with no points. I thought they created some really good chances and they just weren't clinical enough and if we see here early on, Rodon come round the back, it's a good ball and it's a good header actually.
00:29:38He's unlucky not to score. Really good pressure on the ball, win the ball back high. Calvert-Lewin just can't get the ball out of his feet and it's not a great shot, he should do better.
00:29:49Again here, I like this Calvert-Lewin, always occupying the back line. The first pass doesn't come when maybe it should have but he carries on, he continues to be a threat in the box.
00:29:59Really good first touch and unlucky with the shot, a good save from the keeper and this is what we know Calvert-Lewin can do. He's good in the air, he's a present and then a real good chance and an excellent save.
00:30:09I think he'll be really happy with the performance today, Daniel Fargo. They played well, they created chances but just weren't clinical enough.
00:30:17Do you think it's just going to come, it's just a matter of time for Calvert-Lewin?
00:30:21Yeah, well I think we all know Don McAvert-Lewin is a very good player and the biggest issue was keeping him fit and he started his career at Leeds well, he's getting chances and if he stays fit he's a handful for any defender.
00:30:36OK, thank you for the moment. At next, Arsenal last gasp winners at Newcastle last weekend against West Ham who've won on each of their last two visits to the Emirates. Robin Cowan is your commentator.
00:30:48A significant milestone marked today for Mikel Arteta as he takes charge of his 300th game as Arsenal manager. The club is in a much better place since his appointment in 2019.
00:31:00But converting consistent form into major silverware will secure his place as a true Gunners great.
00:31:06Bakayo Saka makes his 200th Premier League appearance. No one has played more times under Mikel Arteta than him.
00:31:12Saliba and Odegaard return to the line-up from the Newcastle victory. West Ham picked up their first point since August with a draw at Everton.
00:31:20Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Bakayo Walker-Peters is the only change from Monday night.
00:31:24Here we go then underway at Emirates Stadium while Mikel Arteta racks up his 300th game as Arsenal coach. It's game number two for Nuno.
00:31:36The Gunners have faced a different West Ham manager in each of their last four meetings.
00:31:42Lucas Bakayo Maqueta, a dangerous one, a real chance for Nicolas Fulcrook. David Raya was nowhere near that. Saliba though, was very near to Fulcrook.
00:31:59Rice to Odegaard. For Jokeres, falls nicely for Odegaard and Timba!
00:32:10Had a couple of cracks at it, first one well saved by Arreola, a little bit too close to the goalkeeper, he did really well to get himself into that position in the first place.
00:32:24Verdegaard, in behind for Saka, gathered, or is it? Over the top from Eza!
00:32:35But it looked like Alphonse Areola had extinguished that situation, beautiful approach play from Arsenal on the deck, Jokeres couldn't get clean contact, Eza certainly did, way too clean, that is some miss.
00:32:53Saka, Somerville dispossesses him, Verdegaard, in turn tries to win it back, Somerville scurries away.
00:33:04Finds Paqueta.
00:33:10Verdegaard looking at a bit of discomfort, a clash of knees.
00:33:18He wants to try to continue.
00:33:21Reis.
00:33:22Saka nips in!
00:33:23Puts the ball in the net, but the flag is up.
00:33:36Great vision from Reis.
00:33:40Did Saka go a little early?
00:33:42Yes.
00:33:43Just a stride ahead of Juve.
00:33:46So this is the end of the afternoon for Martin Erdegaard.
00:33:52See the frustration.
00:33:53We'll just hope that it's not a lengthy layoff for the Arsenal skipper.
00:34:02Juve's header.
00:34:03Saka.
00:34:04Saka.
00:34:05Find Zubamendi.
00:34:06Eza!
00:34:07Terrific save!
00:34:08It's put away by Declan Rice!
00:34:12Half-party celebrations from the Fort Mahama.
00:34:13So that was emphatic.
00:34:15West Ham.
00:34:16Just couldn't quite get back into their shape quickly enough.
00:34:18Saka.
00:34:19Shaka.
00:34:20showed a lot of strength and awareness to get away from..
00:34:34Paqueta.
00:34:36A gorgeous slice of ..
00:34:49A gorgeous slide for a pass for Eza, and although Ariona did well to repel Eza's efforts, Declan Rice kept his head over it to guide it in, his first of the season.
00:35:01West Ham just couldn't quite hold out.
00:35:06Final minutes of stoppage time.
00:35:09Saka.
00:35:12Chop of the shoulder to evade Juve.
00:35:15Timba, Somerville scrambling.
00:35:18Calafiore!
00:35:21Off the post, off the goalkeeper, but off the line.
00:35:25It's pretty desperate from West Ham.
00:35:28Ariona, relieved.
00:35:30But although it hit him in the back, quite have enough legs on it to go over the line.
00:35:36Mavropanos following up.
00:35:37That's a lovely ball over the top from Trossard to find Rice.
00:35:49Missed by Jokeres.
00:35:50It's a lovely play.
00:36:02Inches away, Jokeres.
00:36:03Gabriel Heinzer, new assistant, coming in this season with Mikel Arteta.
00:36:11A conversation together.
00:36:12Supermendy picks out Timba.
00:36:24Penalton.
00:36:25Really good ball and the take from Timba was right on the edge.
00:36:38Where was the foul committed?
00:36:40Well, it's been checked and confirmed.
00:36:42And even though the contact started outside, it continued into the penalty area.
00:36:48And so a chance for Arsenal to surely seal the points here.
00:36:55Makai O Saka on his 200th Premier League appearance for his boyhood club.
00:37:00Saka.
00:37:00It's 2-0.
00:37:06Beautifully taken.
00:37:08Saka marks a special milestone with another goal.
00:37:14The only other player to score on his 200th Arsenal appearance, Thierry Aubry.
00:37:20And I don't know Espirito Santo will try and pick some positives out of this.
00:37:25Clearly West Ham, still very much a work in progress.
00:37:28Oh, Declan Rice in discomfort.
00:37:34And they've already lost Martin Erdegaard to injury.
00:37:37Nice to look.
00:37:44And the up race showing good acceleration and strength that eventually the foul is given.
00:37:53Walker-Peters just got the wrong side.
00:37:58Martinelli.
00:38:00Clipped over the top.
00:38:02Mourinho.
00:38:03A difficult chance, that.
00:38:05As routine a win as you're going to get.
00:38:08Arsenal 2.
00:38:09West Ham United 0.
00:38:10I think we dominated, we followed the steps to win, we had periods of a lot of dominance,
00:38:16some big, big chances that we didn't put away, and I was worried because the longer
00:38:20the game went, with the three games that we played this week, we could lack some energy,
00:38:25but to be fair, the players that came on contributed to maintain the standards, another clean sheet,
00:38:30another win.
00:38:31I think we are starting working on things that we consider that are the basics, our
00:38:35organisation, the way we press, being aggressive, those were things that we have seen, not
00:38:42all the game, but good on that aspect.
00:38:45On the other hand, I think we needed a little bit more of going out to the ball, have a breather.
00:38:50Now is the moment to analyse, but with all the changes that have been going, I think the
00:38:55players are responding, are trying, and this is what pleases me the most.
00:38:58The injury to your captain, can you tell us any more what his state is?
00:39:02He was so unlucky again, I think he went to a clash, and I think he went knee to knee,
00:39:07and he felt straight away that something wasn't right, so he looked a bit worried, to be fair,
00:39:12let's assess him, let's see how bad the injury is, because we had a few already this season,
00:39:18and especially him, that he's been very, very unlucky.
00:39:20Mikel Arteta, I don't know if you know, you've played more games than anyone else under him
00:39:24while he's been head coach, he's used you the most, and I could see even today, he's very
00:39:28demanding of you, isn't he? Just, can you explain your relationship and how you've developed
00:39:33under him?
00:39:34Yeah, Mikel has very much improved my game a lot, I'm very grateful to have him as a coach,
00:39:39and yeah, he's going to keep pushing me, I know that, and yeah, he's going to bring this
00:39:44club some success for sure, so yeah, just looking forward to the day that comes.
00:39:48Well, on Bukayasaka, a little bit of match of the day history here, Wayne, because we're
00:39:54going to show you now a graphic which involves a goal scoring statistic that doesn't involve
00:40:00Alan Shearer in the Premier League. Don't worry, it involves you, Wayne. You're just behind
00:40:06Michael Owen, he's top of the pops there, for players with 100 Premier League goal involvements
00:40:12and how quickly they've got there, how few games they've got there. 153 for Michael, 187 for you,
00:40:172-12 for Bukayasaka. Yeah, I think that clearly shows that Michael was a better player than
00:40:22I was at that age. But no, I think for Saka, he's such an important player for Arsenal and
00:40:30for England, I think over the last three or four years he's probably been Arsenal's most
00:40:34important player. He's had a few injuries which has affected them numbers, it would have
00:40:40been even better if that weren't the case, I believe, but yeah, he's such an incredible
00:40:44player. And him saying there, Bukayasaka, what it seems to be echoed with the
00:40:47players, there's a real belief in them this season and that ended up being quite a straightforward
00:40:51win for them today. But what's interesting, Alan, is the bench and just how much stronger
00:40:56that is. When you have a look at the bench that Arsenal had in their last game against
00:41:00West Ham, which of course was a defeat in February, which was arguably the time when
00:41:04their campaign to win the title got derailed, there's only two players left from that bench
00:41:09in the club. Everybody else has moved on and the replacements or the players who've come in
00:41:13and the strength of that bench today is night and day.
00:41:17That sums everything up for me and that's certainly what helped win them the game today.
00:41:21But you're right. I mean, two from the nine, what was it, six or seven months ago
00:41:24that are just there now. And that is the difference is that if someone goes off injured,
00:41:29someone of quality comes on and perhaps that wasn't the case last season. It was certainly
00:41:34the case today when Erdogan had to go off and Zubomendi came on. It was a little bit of a tweak
00:41:40in the midfield. This is how they started off with Eze and Erdogan a little bit further forward,
00:41:46as you'd expect with Declan Rice perhaps just being that little sitter in midfield. And there's
00:41:51nothing wrong with that. He's very, very good at it. And Arsenal were still creating the
00:41:57chances and getting into reasonable forward positions. There was no doubt it was an easy
00:42:02afternoon for them. They made it look easy at times. But just two or three occasions where
00:42:08you can see Declan Rice is just about to become the deeper midfielder there. He doesn't get forward.
00:42:13And Eze gets into that forward position and he knows he should score because it's a wonderful
00:42:18opportunity for him. But you can see where Declan Rice is. And I'm just saying that for the,
00:42:23not the next graphic, but the one after this one, similar thing again. Look, he's still,
00:42:27he's still the one that's trying to pull the strings, still the deepest one. And this is a,
00:42:31this is eventually a brilliant pass in to Saka. So they were still creating the chances and he was
00:42:38just offside Saka there. But Odegaard goes off, Zubamendi comes on and all of a sudden Zubamendi's
00:42:44the one that's sitting. Declan Rice is 15 or 20 yards further forward. And look what happens.
00:42:50He's in the exact same position that Eze was in a few minutes earlier. Eze misses,
00:42:55Declan Rice didn't. And he put it in the back of the net and he gets his goal. Similar thing again,
00:43:01second half. Off he goes. He's brilliant at doing that. I think he's a better player doing that in
00:43:05that position than he is sitting, albeit he can do both jobs equally well. And that is a fantastic
00:43:11ball as well. And when you've got Zubamendi on the ball and the quality that he brings,
00:43:15he can then place passes into timber just like that. And you can see where Declan Rice and Eze is,
00:43:22then they get the penalty. So it's just that subtle little change that you're bringing the quality on
00:43:28this season that perhaps you weren't able to do that last season. And that's the difference.
00:43:32And we saw that pass there from Zubamendi, a more orthodox angle, but we've got some new technology
00:43:36and this allows you to show us what it looks like to the player. Yeah, it's a great new tool this is,
00:43:42because what it's shown you is the split second. You've got 1.67 seconds, I should say. Zubamendi's
00:43:48got to make up his mind. But what I want to show you there is that little movement to the right hand
00:43:54side of the step. And he just wants the defender to come with him. And he does there,
00:43:58and then you've got that split second to find that pass, to find the way to pass.
00:44:03And from the player's point of view, yeah, I don't think we'll be saying that'll be the last time we
00:44:07see that technology this season, because it just gives you that idea of how quick as a player you've
00:44:12got to think and then you've got to find a pass. On West Ham, obviously Nuno has now got the
00:44:17international break to really get stuck into this team. And the next five games, we have a look,
00:44:22this is where we will see his impact hopefully for us. Yeah, I think we all know what a Nuno team looks like,
00:44:27and I think he'll be happy now for the international break where he can work with the players who are
00:44:31still left there. And I'm sure over the next few weeks then we'll see West Ham a little bit different.
00:44:36Okay, it's a busy Sunday of Premier League action on tomorrow's March of the Day.
00:44:43What a run this guy is on! The flick on, he's in from Keane!
00:44:48Pandemonium at Palace! Walter Mann has had it, blasted home by Williams!
00:44:55Oh, what a goal!
00:44:57Oh, what a goal!
00:45:00Zigociago, it's in!
00:45:04Hollands!
00:45:04There's live commentary of all five of those games on BBC Sounds tomorrow.
00:45:15Premier League Sunday starts at midday. Also on Sounds, look out for the Wayne Rooney show,
00:45:19that's available on iPlayer as well. Hugo Echitike is Kelly Summer's latest guest in the
00:45:24football interview, that's next here on BBC One and on iPlayer, where you can also find individual
00:45:29highlights of every Premier League game, along with both Match of the Days, so you can catch up or
00:45:35watch from the start any time. Manchester United were looking to bounce back from last week's defeat
00:45:41at Brentford. Visitors Sunderland have enjoyed the best start for a newly promoted club in 13 years.
00:45:46Connor McNamara was at Old Trafford.
00:45:50Ruben Auro makes five changes from last weekend's defeat at Brentford. The headline news is that
00:45:55Sally Lomans gets his debut, Casemiro is back from suspension, Amant returns after a family bereavement
00:46:02and with Matthias Cunha on the bench, Mason Mount makes his first start since August. Regis
00:46:08Labrice makes two changes from Sunderland's winner for Nottingham Forest. Simon Addingra and Bertrand
00:46:13Traore come in for Dalby and Rigg, it's Traore's first start in the Premier League for the club.
00:46:19Now ahead of kickoff, a pause for all those affected by the tragic events in North Manchester on Thursday
00:46:27morning. Both Manchester United and Manchester City in their game tomorrow are wearing identical
00:46:33armbands announcing a City United.
00:46:47...
00:47:00Just to put in context how well Sunderland have started this campaign back in the Premier League,
00:47:04if they get a point today it would see them already match Southampton's total tally by the end of last
00:47:11season. It's a wonderful trickery by Wilson Isidore. Maybe a little space here for Simon Addingra,
00:47:19early delivery was well anticipated by Bertrand Traore. Three minutes in, what a chance this is on his
00:47:27first Premier League start for the club to get his first Sunderland goal, it should be 1-0. Manchester United
00:47:35won their last two Premier League home games, victory today would be the first time in well over
00:47:40two years for them to win three home league games in a row here in Old Trafford.
00:47:48Mbouma.
00:47:52This is Mount and he's controlled it well and he finishes even better.
00:47:57It's only his third Premier League goal ever for Manchester United.
00:48:05Feel the relief for Ruben Amaro. This is just the kind of start he was hoping for today.
00:48:14Mason Mount, one of the five changes in the team today, took that ever so well, didn't blast it,
00:48:21picked his spot. Such a calm finish for Mason Mount. That goal is Mason Mount's first home Premier
00:48:30League goal for Manchester United here. Shishko. Good ball, Amand. The red shirt's beginning to
00:48:39stream forward in support of Amand Diallo here. Good save! Robin Roos, who's been making miraculous
00:48:48saves for Sunderland all season. Stretching there to tonight. Amand, his first goal of this campaign.
00:48:56Days like this you do wonder what a difficult job it is on the Manchester Tourism Board.
00:49:01You don't come here for the weather.
00:49:05Mbouma spins away from Siddiqui. That was a nice little manoeuvre.
00:49:10Amand, as the rain begins to fall heavy again at Old Trafford.
00:49:14Mbouma has a chance to stay himself denied by Roos again.
00:49:20It's quite a long way out, but there was a spin and bend on that.
00:49:24Good save from Robin Roos. Mbouma.
00:49:30A little bit of a spin away from Siddiqui.
00:49:32It's not a bad ball in, just too high for Shishko. Dallas should have controlled better.
00:49:36Here's Mount. Bruno Fernandes. And he goes from the top corner. What a save from Roos.
00:49:43And Amand unable to follow up, but Mason Mount couldn't get a touch either.
00:49:48That is agonizingly close for Bruno Fernandes.
00:49:52But what an extinction of his arm from Robin Roos to push this onto the frame of the goal.
00:49:58This is a really good save. And Semiro here releasing Amand.
00:50:04Yoro's made a good run inside of him. This is Leni Yoro.
00:50:07Shaka did well to get back into the position to block.
00:50:15Worked really hard there, Karliczaka.
00:50:18Diogo Delo, who is playing left-wing back today, has gone over to the right-hand side for this throw.
00:50:23Distance, and it's Shishko, and it's in for Manchester United.
00:50:31And the long throw from Diogo Delo reaps the dividends as Benjamin Shishko scores his first goal for Manchester United here at Old Trafford.
00:50:44Long throw-ins, which have been so in vogue in the Premier League since the start of the campaign.
00:50:50And Roos 1 makes it 2-0. Good anticipation by Shishko.
00:50:55Manchester United 2, Sunderland 0.
00:51:03Could Sunderland get one back ahead of half-time?
00:51:06Chance to look up for Kraliczaka!
00:51:10And that is the first save from Manchester United from Salah Lemons.
00:51:15He's caught that well, Kraliczaka.
00:51:21For gone by Hume, no chances taken by De Ligt.
00:51:27The driving rain thunders down on top of the Old Trafford pitch again.
00:51:32Lord Mukiel to take the throw.
00:51:36Oh, Shishko with a high leg, and it's Hume who went down.
00:51:40Sunderland fans are screaming for a penalty here.
00:51:43And the video assistant referee is going to take a look at this.
00:51:48High leg, but I don't think there's a connection with the head of Trahume, is there?
00:51:55So, the referee, having consulted with the assistant referee, has now given the penalty.
00:52:02Now, this has not yet been approved by VAR, but video assistant referee will still be looking at the replays here to see if that is the correct on-field decision.
00:52:13And it is no surprise to hear that VA or Neil Davis is going to ask Stuart Atwell to come across and have a look at this for himself.
00:52:21Well, the line of sight for the assistant, you could see why he would think that boot might have connected with the head, but that angle we can see shows it doesn't.
00:52:31Just some deliberation, here is the views of Stuart Atwell.
00:52:36No foul by the Manchester United player, no penalty to Sunderland.
00:52:46That could have been a way back into the match for the visitors.
00:52:50So, Alex Ferguson enjoying his cup of tea for the second half, feels rare for Manchester United to have such comfort here, leading the game.
00:53:02Long clearance from Roof.
00:53:06Traore in pursuit, keeper came out and didn't get there, and Traore is down.
00:53:10Now, any collision was outside the penalty area, I think.
00:53:14The referee says that it was simulation.
00:53:17It's a yellow card for Bertrand Traore for diving.
00:53:22Goalkeeper was nowhere near it.
00:53:24Does look like there's a touch from Bruno Fernandes.
00:53:28Bertrand Traore feels he's been very hard done by there.
00:53:36Siddiqui.
00:53:40Meyenda gets away from Luke Shaw.
00:53:44Meyenda, unselfish.
00:53:46Straight at the keeper.
00:53:49Sarah Evans with a big moment towards a clean sheet of his debut here.
00:53:57He'll sleep better tonight than he did last weekend, going into the international break.
00:54:02This will be of big comfort for Ruben Amrit.
00:54:06Today was not a perfect performance.
00:54:08We had our moments, but we were competitive and really focused during the game.
00:54:13I think Senne did really well also.
00:54:17So we were a competitive and an adult team today.
00:54:22And we need to win these kind of games with clean sheet.
00:54:25It was good for us.
00:54:26We didn't start well and we get punished quickly.
00:54:29Yeah, a bit disappointing because I think we had a good ambition here and we are still a young team with not much experience together.
00:54:41So we need ups and downs and obviously we don't want to be too negative when we lose.
00:54:51But it's a strong reminder because this league is really demanding.
00:54:55And it's a good lesson today.
00:54:57Three home Premier League wins in a row.
00:54:59It's the first time in over two years that that's happened at the club.
00:55:01That feels a good base now to build on.
00:55:04It's really important.
00:55:06But at the same time, it's frustrating not to have this kind of performance.
00:55:10Again, it's nothing to do with playing well.
00:55:13It's this kind of performance at home.
00:55:15We need to do that away also because it's our responsibility to play like this.
00:55:20Wayne, a couple of tactical tweaks today from Ruben Ameren that really paid dividends.
00:55:25Yeah, I thought it was a really good, important win.
00:55:28But what I really liked was he simplified the game for the players.
00:55:33And Mbueno was getting a lot closer to Sesko, which I think really helped Manchester United.
00:55:39Especially the first 30 minutes, someone struggled to deal with it.
00:55:42So if we watch here, Manchester United are in good shape.
00:55:46And Mbueno and Sesko were never really too far away from each other when Manchester United were attacking.
00:55:51And then what this means is because they're close to each other.
00:55:56The three Sunderland defenders here closest to him have to stay with them.
00:56:00And then that frees up the space for Ahmed to get at the Sunderland full-back in a 1v1 situation.
00:56:08And now they're both in the box, both ready to try and get a sniffer of a goal.
00:56:13And it doesn't pay off this time, but the intentions were there right from the start.
00:56:17Not on special, long ball up to Sesko, who I think does this really well.
00:56:21And Mbueno making the run in behind, as we've seen against Chelsea when Sanchez got sent off.
00:56:25And I think this caused some problems all afternoon.
00:56:29Again here, but now it's a little bit different. Mason Mount getting around Sesko.
00:56:34It's a little bit scruffy, and it looks a little bit scruffy, but it's causing Tulland problems.
00:56:38Sesko gets the ball, gets the ball in a good area to Mbueno, and he should do better with the finish.
00:56:44And then Cunha comes on and nothing changes. Ball up to Sesko. Cunha running in behind.
00:56:48Sesko doesn't even touch the ball. He gets a 1v1 and an opportunity to score a goal.
00:56:53So I think it's a subtle change which Amaran made today, but I think it was the right one.
00:56:59It was clever, and Tulland really struggled to cope with it, especially the first 30 minutes.
00:57:03This game had everything that you'd think, do you throw a new goalkeeper into it?
00:57:08Because from a drama point of view, it could have all gone horribly wrong, couldn't it?
00:57:11They're under enormous pressure, Manchester United.
00:57:13Sunderland coming on the back of a really good start to the season.
00:57:16You throw a 23-year-old in for his debut, and obviously he's come with a great reputation
00:57:21from Antwerp, the Belgian goalkeeper. But he stood up to that challenge today.
00:57:25Yeah, it was a big decision, and I think it's difficult to be the goalkeeper of Manchester United.
00:57:30But I thought it's done really well for the majority of the game.
00:57:33And I think you see early on here, nothing crazy, getting rid of the ball and it puts
00:57:40Manchester United on the attack. And when you want your goalkeeper to make a save,
00:57:44he's in a good position. He sees the ball and makes a save he probably should make.
00:57:48And this was the one hiccup he had in the game where he makes the wrong decision,
00:57:54he comes out, and on another day it could cost him and Manchester United. But I thought in the
00:57:59main he's done a lot of good things. He had five minutes to go, he makes a good save,
00:58:04which stopped him from being a nervous five minutes. And then what everyone wants,
00:58:07when the ball goes in your box, you want a keeper who can come and command, catch the ball.
00:58:11And I thought it was a good, solid day before. And of course, pockets of the crowd shouting
00:58:16are you Schmeichel in disguise won't have harmed his confidence, will it, today?
00:58:20Yeah, I think we all hope he can be the next Peter Schmeichel.
00:58:24And just briefly, Amarim saying that this was an adult performance today.
00:58:27Probably mature, I think he means, certainly in the first 30 minutes. It was a more even game
00:58:32when Sunderland matched them up and changed their system. Sunderland were a much better team
00:58:36and were more competitive then, but it was a huge win for Man United.
00:58:40OK, so last night now, and Bournemouth took on Fulham. Jonathan Pearce was at the Vitality.
00:58:47On a wild, wet, windy night, Bournemouth make three changes from the draw at Leeds.
00:58:52James Hill, Alex Scott and David Brits come in. Alex Jimenez, Ryan Christie and Amin Adley
00:58:57go to the bench as they look to protect their five-league match unbeaten run.
00:59:01Fulham have no recognised centre-forwards in the side,
00:59:04with Raul Jimenez failing to recover from injury and defeat at Villa,
00:59:07and Rodrigo Munoz still sidelined. Issa Diop adds to their defensive strength,
00:59:11they're only changed. They've only had one day, really, to work out a new system.
00:59:19A filthy night. The rain is cascading down. It's being blown all around the ground by a howling wind.
00:59:26This is all the early possession.
00:59:28Tavenier here, here's Semenyo, really is all Bournemouth.
00:59:34They haven't got out of the traps at the moment.
00:59:39They back to Wilson, in trouble. Adams with the shots,
00:59:43and the keeper needed to save it.
00:59:47Ten minutes gone, and that's the closest we've come to a goal.
00:59:50Aleno have to stretch to save.
00:59:55Listen to that win.
00:59:58That's the elements, not me.
01:00:03I don't want to have a better spell, but they haven't really looked like scoring,
01:00:05neither is the home side.
01:00:08He is true fair.
01:00:10Anderson away to Semenyo.
01:00:14Oh, he tested the goalkeeper. He spilt it.
01:00:16There's an appeal for a penalty.
01:00:19And there's an offside flag raised against Evan Nilsson.
01:00:27Really is an awkward night for goalkeepers. Semenyo's got a lot of power behind the shot.
01:00:31Good effort here, Leon Tuan Semenyo. No question of it being a penalty, by the way.
01:00:44Here's Brooks, take on Sessegnor, and did well, gets the cross in.
01:00:48Fine defending by Castagna. Sessegnor's just got his body shape wrong there.
01:00:53So Brooks could take him on on the outside.
01:00:56Deft cross, headed away.
01:00:58Sessegnor comes into the far post. It's aimed in that area.
01:01:04And Leno really had to stretch when it goes from Evan Nilsson.
01:01:08That was arcing wickedly goalwards.
01:01:11Leno just got there.
01:01:14Whatever cover you can get, use it.
01:01:16That doesn't look the safest, does it?
01:01:19Tight, competitive, far from a classic.
01:01:23Here's Iwobi, right ahead of him from Wilson. He's crept in here.
01:01:28Gets a shot away. Good save.
01:01:30That's the best we've seen from Fulham.
01:01:33Good movement from Harry Wilson.
01:01:36Found well by Iwobi. Had a look round the corner.
01:01:39And then tested Petrovic.
01:01:40Sessegnor.
01:01:44Sessegnor.
01:01:47Chance for Cukwesi.
01:01:48There's an opportunity for Sessegnor and Fulham are ahead.
01:01:52And they worked out really well.
01:01:551-0 to Fulham.
01:01:5869 minutes into the game.
01:02:01Took it brilliantly.
01:02:02Beyond Petrovic.
01:02:05It's a purposeful run by him.
01:02:07Carried on the run.
01:02:07It's a lovely weighted pass back to him.
01:02:10And a super finish.
01:02:12And it's Bournemouth 0 and Fulham 1.
01:02:15And will this be Bournemouth's first home defeat in four league games?
01:02:20Unbeaten here this season, his home will be.
01:02:24Fulham can't hold a lead again.
01:02:25The Cottingers have lost four of their last seven league games when scoring the opener.
01:02:31Sessegnor.
01:02:35Two in the middle to hit.
01:02:37Takes the extra stride.
01:02:38He's done brilliantly.
01:02:39Oh, what a goal!
01:02:42What a fantastic equaliser.
01:02:44For the man of the moment.
01:02:48In the rare for nine minutes.
01:02:51He just wouldn't give it up, would he?
01:02:53Picked it up wide.
01:02:56Drove at Castagna.
01:02:57Took the extra stride and beat him.
01:02:59Oh, through the goalkeeper's legs.
01:03:04No wonder Bert Leno looks horrified.
01:03:06Delight for Antoine Semenya.
01:03:12Semenya can switch it away to Ben Doak.
01:03:15Still available.
01:03:16Cliver.
01:03:18Put him drawing them behind the ball.
01:03:19Cliver will go for a speck.
01:03:21Check it a winner!
01:03:24What a turn around.
01:03:25From 1-0 down after 69 minutes.
01:03:29All of a sudden, it's 2-1 to Bournemouth.
01:03:312 goals in the last fight for them.
01:03:36It was a thunderous stride.
01:03:39Feared one way and the other.
01:03:40There was the gap.
01:03:41He saw it.
01:03:42And thundered home.
01:03:44Bournemouth 2, Fulham 1.
01:03:46And a goal worthy of winning any football match.
01:03:49Chikwese with the wriggle.
01:04:00Turned by Sessegnon.
01:04:01Helped on.
01:04:03And Kearney was in there and the effort was blocked.
01:04:06As they forage for an equaliser.
01:04:09Get something out of the game.
01:04:13In comes the corner kick.
01:04:15Nisa Fenn in the goalkeeper.
01:04:16Got it wrong.
01:04:16Punched it down.
01:04:17Petrovic.
01:04:18You know, here's a break on.
01:04:19Kluivert all the way through.
01:04:22Can they wrap it up here?
01:04:24Here's a chance for Dirk.
01:04:26Looks up players to his left-hand side.
01:04:28Semenyo coming in!
01:04:32His wonderful spell continues.
01:04:36And Bournemouth have scored three goals
01:04:40in 26 minutes.
01:04:43To seal the deal.
01:04:44One of the Premier League's best players this season so far.
01:04:48Precise pass.
01:04:50And tucked out with such confidence by Antoine Semenyo.
01:04:56He has two.
01:04:57Bournemouth have three.
01:04:58And it's three points for the Cherries.
01:05:00It's a strange game because, especially in the first half,
01:05:07not a lot of things have happened.
01:05:08It was quite tactical.
01:05:10They were quite well set defensively.
01:05:12And we were having a little bit more of the ball,
01:05:15but not arriving clearly, no?
01:05:16And when the game goes like this, you think,
01:05:20if you can set earlier, the first goal is going to be difficult.
01:05:23But luckily for us, no?
01:05:24We had, obviously, to risk.
01:05:27But I would give merit to the players, no?
01:05:29Because we've scored really nice goals.
01:05:32And what I can say is that after, in two individual moments,
01:05:35they decided the game.
01:05:36That is the reality, of course, looking for the first one.
01:05:39When we have two against one on the side,
01:05:42you should be much stronger at that moment.
01:05:43And after a goal from 25 yards from,
01:05:47Justin decided the game when I believe that second half
01:05:50was completely much more for ourselves.
01:05:52What drama.
01:05:53Yeah, it was a bit of a dull first half,
01:05:55but I think going in at a half, the managers have said,
01:05:58take as many shots as we can, expose them on the transition.
01:06:02And, yeah, obviously, we conceded, which was frustrating,
01:06:04but we knew we'll get some chances again.
01:06:06So it's just building up, building up,
01:06:08and then the space opened up on the byline for me.
01:06:10And I looked up and I'd seen there was no options there.
01:06:13So my next thought process was going through the keeper's legs.
01:06:16It was executed perfectly.
01:06:17The win came from that point onwards.
01:06:20Well, for a team that was supposed to struggle,
01:06:21because they've lost so many big players,
01:06:23haven't they, in the transfer window.
01:06:24It is their best start ever to a Premier League season,
01:06:27Bournemouth, and Semenya just keeps on impressing.
01:06:29Not for the first, and it won't be the last time we talk about him,
01:06:32because he's having a brilliant time.
01:06:34And we saw him first day of the season, didn't we,
01:06:36getting two at Anfield against Liverpool,
01:06:39and his stats are off the charts, really.
01:06:41And every time the ball gets to him,
01:06:44you can just feel and hear the excitement,
01:06:46because people are expecting something special.
01:06:49And they got it last night again.
01:06:51The way he goes past players, he finds himself in that position.
01:06:55And the way he runs at defenders, an absolute nightmare.
01:06:58Defenders hate that when wingers with a bit of trickery do that,
01:07:02and can finish it off.
01:07:04I mean, some of the positions he got himself into,
01:07:07you're about to see an incredible piece of skill here.
01:07:10I mean, he's spreading and making the pitch big there,
01:07:13but the way he goes past Castagne here,
01:07:16I mean, he leaves him for dead, doesn't he, just there.
01:07:18There's nothing on for him.
01:07:21Or so the defenders think.
01:07:22And then he just, he sticks it through the goalkeeper's legs.
01:07:25It's an incredible piece of skill and a fantastic goal.
01:07:28And he's got six goals this season.
01:07:30He's going to get more.
01:07:31He's full of confidence.
01:07:32And he starts, this is the last minute.
01:07:34He starts in his own box.
01:07:35Look at the hunger to get on the end of this.
01:07:37And he gets his reward.
01:07:39I mean, I know he's signed a new contract in the summer,
01:07:41but unfortunately for Bournemouth fans,
01:07:44there's going to be bigger clubs coming in,
01:07:46as they have been for some of their top players,
01:07:49as we've seen this season.
01:07:50And I mean, this, this, we have to make the point.
01:07:52This is not just Bournemouth.
01:07:54This is the whole of the league.
01:07:56Since last August.
01:07:56Since last August.
01:07:57I mean, that tells you how impressive he is and has been.
01:08:03And I think he's only going to get better and been magnificent.
01:08:06He has indeed.
01:08:07Now, before we go, let's take a little look at the Premier League table.
01:08:10And, well, Arsenal are the new leaders,
01:08:12with Liverpool dropping to second, a point behind the Gunners.
01:08:15Tottenham and Bournemouth complete the top four.
01:08:17Chelsea rise to six.
01:08:18Manchester United move into the top half.
01:08:20West Ham stay second bottom with four points,
01:08:22which is their joint lowest total at this stage of a season.
01:08:24Elsewhere, Leeds fall one place to 13th.
01:08:27A big thank you to Alan and to Wayne.
01:08:30It's early days, but Arsenal have the edge
01:08:32and Liverpool for now have been knocked off their perch.
01:08:34Esther, wow.
01:08:35Good night.
