01:13And Kairat Almaty made their Champions League bow at Sporting, a journey of almost 7,000 kilometres.
01:21But we start in England.
01:242023 champions Manchester City struggled during the inaugural league phase last season, dropping points to Sporting, Feyenoord, Juventus and Paris in consecutive matches.
01:40This pitched them against Real Madrid in the knockout playoffs, where, despite taking the lead, Madrid came back to win the first leg 3-2.
01:50And then Kylian Mbappé turned on the style at the Bernabeu, scoring a hat-trick to knock the English side out 6-3 on aggregate.
01:58So, much to improve upon this season for Pep Guardiola's side.
02:02City legend Kevin De Bruyne left England for Italy in the summer, to join Antonio Conte's Serie A winning team.
02:11Their last UCL campaign was two seasons ago, where they reached the round of 16.
