00:10:36a decent away performance in the first half

00:10:39but it's not too much comfort at the moment

00:10:42because the second half wasn't good enough

00:10:44there wasn't too much in the game

00:10:46it was a fine margins game

00:10:48the scoreline reflects poorly on us

00:10:50and we have to accept that

00:10:53the season's not won or lost in the first game

00:57:33and the rest of the team actually would give me encouragement going forward

00:57:42I thought their attitude was excellent.

00:57:43They look far fitter than Aston Villa, stronger than Aston Villa,

00:57:48and they certainly created more chances than Aston Villa.

00:57:51But the big thing is they didn't take them.

00:57:53But when you've got the pace that Newcastle have up top

00:57:56and when Gordon's having to play up front, it was a great run,

00:57:59which then creates the space for Alanga to run into.

00:59:25and that's where he looks more of a danger.

00:59:28So I think what's clear is Newcastle need a centre-forward,

00:59:33which could be difficult now,

00:59:35or they bring a centre-forward in

00:59:37because you get more out of especially Gordon

00:59:39and Alanga just going to the football club,

00:59:41playing from wide areas.

00:59:43So where are you at then with Alexander Issa?

00:59:45Before we come back to him, where are you with it?

00:59:48Yeah, I think it's a difficult one.

00:59:50I think with Issa,

00:59:51I think he has to go about it the right way

00:59:54and there's ways of leaving a football club.

00:59:56That's where the football club wants to get with you

00:59:58and if you want to leave to go to a different club,

01:00:00there's the right way to do it.

01:00:02And I've been there myself

01:00:03where I've asked to leave Manchester United

01:00:04in my career at times

01:00:07and you have to do it the right way

01:00:10and you have to be professional about it.

01:00:12But you put in a transfer request,

01:00:15you didn't refuse to play.

01:00:17So there is a way to do it

01:00:18and Alex is not going about it the right way at all.

01:00:23And you have to feel sorry for the players and the manager.

01:00:28for the thousands of fans

01:00:30that have travelled all that way to Villa Park today.

01:00:32They're giving their all,

01:00:33yet they're looking at another player,

01:00:35wherever he is,

01:00:37refusing to play,

01:00:38despite having a three-year contract

01:00:40and on to over 100 grand a week,

01:00:43whereas they're paying 60 or 70 quid for a ticket,

01:00:4630 quid for petrol or a train ticket

01:00:48to get there and back.

01:00:49I mean, you can imagine the anger

01:00:51that they're feeling

01:00:52that someone is taking the liberty

01:00:55of saying,

01:00:55I'm refusing to play.

01:00:57You just can't do that

01:00:59when you've got a three-year contract.

01:01:01I think for the fans,

01:01:02the fans especially,

01:01:04obviously you know better than anyone,

01:01:05the Geordies,

01:01:06I think they're a passionate fan base

01:01:08and it's going to be hard for them to come back,

01:01:09but also for his teammates.

01:01:11I think as a teammate,

01:01:14I think you expect your teammates

01:01:16to come in and train every day,

01:01:18to give everything on the training pitch,

01:01:19to give everything when you pull a shirt on

01:01:21to go and play

01:01:22and the fact that he's refusing to come in and train,

01:01:25I think it's going to be very difficult

01:01:27to come back and influence his teammates.

01:01:28Is that the difference?

01:01:30Within the professional football squad,

01:01:32is that the difference for you?

01:01:33So you asked to leave Manchester United,

01:01:35but you still train and play.

01:01:37Therefore, when everything's sorted

01:01:38and you do sign a new contract,

01:01:40it's handshakes and you're back, is it?

01:01:43Whereas if you're not training and not playing,

01:01:47there's a trust element there.

01:01:48Is that what you're saying?

01:01:49Yeah, there is a trust element

01:01:50and I think he's just going about it the wrong way.

01:01:54Maybe he's getting advised wrongly

01:01:55but also for the team who's trying to sign him,

01:01:58which obviously it looks like it's Liverpool

01:02:03is that the sort of player you want
