The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas announced Friday its willingness to release Israeli prisoners and proposed the establishment of an independent Palestinian administration for the Gaza Strip. The statement was issued in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s ceasefire proposal for the enclave. Hamas affirmed its readiness to immediately enter negotiations to discuss the details of the exchange. Furthermore, the movement emphasized that the political and territorial future of Gaza must be addressed within an inclusive Palestinian national framework, in which Hamas will participate. Notably, the statement did not mention any plans for disarmament. Hamas’s response comes amid escalating Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and a rising number of civilian casualties.
