00:00Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03An investigation report into a fatal plane crash at a Chesterfield industrial site
00:07has revealed the reasons behind the incident.
00:10It took place shortly after 8am on September 1st 2024
00:13and saw a light aircraft crash at an industrial estate off Sheetbridge Lane in Chesterfield.
00:19The pilot, a 71-year-old man who was the only person on board, was pronounced dead at the scene.
00:25An investigation carried out by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch
00:29has now found that the pilot lost control shortly after departing from Colaston Airfield
00:34due to conditions of reduced visibility.
00:37The investigation found that there was no evidence of structural failure of the plane before the accident
00:42and concluded that the incident was not survivable.
00:47The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Derbyshire today
00:50ahead of strong winds and heavy rain this evening.
00:53A yellow weather warning for wind will be in place for Derbyshire from 3pm today until midnight on Saturday.
00:59It comes as Storm Amy is expected to bring a spell of strong winds and heavy rain
01:03lighted to cause disruption across the country.
01:06Forecasters say the weather has the potential to cause travel disruption,
01:09damage to buildings and disruption of power supplies.
