Police ask witnesses of army truck accident to come forward

Police are requesting help from the public who have information related to a fatal accident involving an army  truck that crashed and fell into a ravine at KM257 northbound of the North-South Expressway near the Menora Tunnel on Wednesday (Oct 1). 00:15In the incident, 32-year-old Corporal Mohammad Rouzaini Mohammad Sharif, who was seated

00:21in the rear passenger section, was confirmed dead at the scene, while six others, including

00:26the driver, were injured.

00:28Kuala Kangsar Police Chief ACP Hisham Harun said the Royal Malaysian Army truck crashed

00:34into a ravine near the menorah tunnel after losing control and veering to the left side

00:39of the road before it overturned and plunged about 20 feet.

00:44Five personnel were rescued before authorities arrived, while two others were trapped.

00:49The victim, pulled from the wreckage, was pronounced dead at 5.55pm.

00:55The other was rescued at 6.15pm and sent to Taiping Hospital for further treatment.

01:00The case is being investigated under Section 41, subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act,

01:061987.
