00:00A policeman was injured after being hit by an alleged drunk driver while managing traffic
00:10at an accident site in Johor Bahru. Johor Bahru North OCPD Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh
00:17said the incident happened around 4 a.m. on Sunday at Kilometer 8, Jalan Johor Bahru,
00:23Ayer Hitam, involving a car and two police patrol motorcycles.
00:27A 23-year-old man driving from Skudai is believed to have lost control of his car and rammed
00:34into the motorcycles, which were manned by two policemen aged 29 and 36. One officer suffered
00:41a leg injury and was treated at Hospital Sultana Amina, while the other officer and the driver
00:47were unhurt. A breathalyzer test showed the driver was intoxicated, though he tested negative
00:53for drugs. He has been remanded until Monday for investigation under Section 44, Subsection
00:591 of the Road Transport Act, 1987, for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs.
01:07If convicted, he faces 10 to 15 years in prison, a 50,000 to 100,000 ringgit fine,
01:13and a 10-year license suspension. ACP Balveer urged anyone with information to contact Inspector
