00:01British primatologist and conservation icon Jane Goodall has died at the age of 91 from natural causes,
00:08while in California on a speaking tour of the U.S., according to the Jane Goodall Institute.
00:14Goodall, who first gained recognition in Tanzania under the mentorship of Louis Leakey,
00:20revolutionized primate science by discovering that chimpanzees use tools and display complex emotions and violence.
00:28She later earned a PhD from Cambridge without an undergraduate degree, founded the Jane Goodall Institute in 1977,
00:36and launched the Roots & Shoots youth program now in over 60 countries.
00:42Her work led her to global environmental activism, writing books, receiving major awards,
00:48and becoming a household name through documentaries, children's media, and even a Lego figure.
00:55Before her passing, Goodall urged the world to treat the planet with love and respect,
01:01a message echoed in tributes from actress Jane Fonda, UNESCO, and many others.
