00:00Another head-scratcher upset came in Raleigh, North Carolina.

00:04NC State was coming off a 12-point loss to Duke.

00:07They were laying 9.5, 10 points to a team in Virginia Tech

00:11that only got a victory against Wofford the previous week.

00:15It was their first conference game.

00:16They step up as 9.5-point road underdogs and win the ballgame outright.

00:22They now sit at 2-3, Coach.

00:24This team has more consistency since they fired their head coach.

00:28Can they maintain that momentum for the next six or seven weeks?

00:32I think they've got the momentum there.

00:34I said no way can they carry it.

00:37You lose your coach, you lose ballgames,

00:40and eventually you no longer have something to play for.

00:43But I think the fact that they had a great Wofford was the perfect game.

00:47Big win, get your confidence up.

00:49Now it's nothing to lose.

00:50They go out there against a really good NC State team, and they play.

00:55Of course, the Drones is an outstanding quarterback.

00:57They get over 100 yards from a rusher,

00:59and they hold a blue-collar running team to, what, 58 yards of offense,

01:0459 yards of offense.

01:06When you hold NC State to that kind, one, you have a chance to win the football game.

01:10And now Virginia Tech, you know,

01:11if you're not going to go out and have an incredible season,

01:14go out with your head held high, with pride,

01:17and everybody pulling for that team.

01:18And it's amazing.

01:19You see it every now and then.

01:21The team pulls together, rallies around the coach that isn't there

01:25to prove that we can pull together.

01:27And right now, there's a lot more football to be played.

01:30But I think Virginia Tech did a great job.

01:32And now, you'd have to say, in the middle level of the ACC,

01:36they've got a chance to get some of these teams to win some ballgames.

01:39And I'd say six or eight wins.

01:41I don't know.

01:42It's going to be tough.

01:42I looked at their schedule.

01:43But they've got a chance to get themselves into a bowl situation.

01:46I don't know that they've got enough to get themselves into the ACC.

01:50But, hey, don't tell them that.

01:52Yeah, I think the one thing is Kyron Drones is a veteran quarterback.

01:56He threw for 177 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions.

02:01Terryon Stewart, the running back that you mentioned,

02:03rushes for over 100 yards, 11.6 yards per carry, coach.

02:07I mean, talk about a home run hitter.

02:09I mean, just like Tootin from Jacksonville last year.

02:13I mean, the kid's got speed, vision.

02:14So you keep that up.

02:15And I think the biggest thing for me, 1-0 in the conference.

02:19You'll start to see this team maybe give it up.

02:21If they get to 500, they lose a game that they shouldn't.

02:25As long right now as they're undefeated,

02:27you're going to get the Hokies' best effort entering week number six.

02:31They're six and a half point home favorites over Wake Forest.
