The cask in Bemidster is six years old next month and it's about time we opened the second cask.
00:07
This one is on Cheltenham Road. It's a bit bigger, a bit bolder, a bit brighter than the original.
00:13
When we opened the cask in Bemidster we wanted it to be that little place you discover when you're on a holiday in Europe.
00:20
So quite low-key, kind of dating vibes.
00:23
With this one we wanted it to be similar to bars, natural wine bars in Paris and South America
00:29
which allowed DJs playing behind the bar a lot more confident, a bit more brash than places you go to for a midnight town.
00:37
Can you tell us a bit about what Bristolians can expect in this new venue?
00:42
Yeah, there's a lot to say.
00:44
We've got five wines on tap, we've also got five beers on draft and cider as well.
00:50
We've got some cocktails including two that have been made for us by Pete from Spira Bristol.
00:56
An amazing local gin that's been around for about a year and that we love and he's crafted two cocktails for us.
01:01
And we've also got a huge bottle of this.
01:04
Mainly composed of wines that we've either been to the vineyards or that we've met the winemakers.
01:09
So it's one that we've fallen in love with because of the winemakers we've met.
01:13
As usual we're trying to go different breaks, different regions.
01:19
So we've got loads of Greece, we've got loads of South America, Uruguay which I personally love, Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine.
01:27
So as well as usual, Italy, France, Spain, we've got wines from far and wide.
01:34
And ones that we've discovered and fallen in love with and that we want to share our love with them with our new community.
01:40
When you're choosing a wine list there's so much choice.
01:43
We've got to narrow it down into ones that we personally feel really excited about and that we really want to share.
01:48
The winemakers we've met in the last six years, the ones that we love, the ones which massively care about the land.
01:54
And they care about the glass in your hands.
01:57
And they've got a real passion for it.
01:59
We've fallen in love with the wine through their passion.
02:02
It's really important for us that people feel value at every stage.
02:06
So we have four price points.
02:08
Bank of Buck, Treats, Expert Sexy and Drop Dead Gorgeous.
02:12
And we think that at every level we've got really, really exciting wines.
02:15
So whether you want to spend six quid on a glass of wine or 25 quid on a glass of wine.
02:21
We've got something for everybody.
02:22
So you might be out for a Wednesday evening where you just want a bottle with friends
02:26
and it's not going to take you back too much but you get to come to a great venue and have a really long way for a bottle of wine.
02:32
Or you might be out for treats for that week or for that month.
02:36
And you've got something really special on the wall.
02:39
Including some real kind of natural wine icons.
02:42
But also some ones that we've discovered that we've forgotten.
02:45
They're going to get you really excited.
02:48
Yeah, so it's kind of inspired by the bars of Paris and South America.
02:52
You can see behind me a piano.
02:54
So I went to South America and a lot of wine bars there had a piano.
02:57
And you return into kind of spontaneous party nights.
03:00
So you also have DJs.
03:02
We're going to have a DJ in here regularly.
03:04
Standing behind the bar of the other two.
03:07
Something that's really different is in November we'll be launching a bookshop.
03:12
By an upstairs area which we'll have a bookshop.
03:15
So you can come in on a quiet Sunday or a quiet Tuesday afternoon.
03:18
Grab a glass of wine, read a book.
03:20
And if you get into the book and you want to take it home, you can then buy it to us.
03:24
And that's something that we haven't seen before in Bristol or even the UK.
03:28
So we're kind of trying to go throughout the day I guess.
03:31
So you can start off in the afternoon.
03:33
Early afternoon it's going to chill vibes.
03:35
A glass of wine, read a book.
03:37
And then as you get into the evening it's going to get autographed anymore.
03:39
Like a party basically.
03:41
It's August 2nd October.
03:42
We are open.
03:43
So can't wait to welcome people in.
03:45
Show their doors.
03:46
Everyone on the first weekend gets a free welcome drink.
03:49
So even if you're just going to look at them for one.
03:51
Come in and see what we're about.
03:53
Let's go.
03:54
Let's go.
03:55
Let's go.
03:56
Let's go.
03:57
Let's go.
