00:01:29Hey, save those whistles for me, will you?
00:01:33I'm just acknowledging the gifts that are going to land me on the PGA Tour next year.
00:01:37Oh, just don't forget you've got the cutest caddy around.
00:01:40Cutest caddy, best wife.
00:01:41Hmm, we'll get them.
00:01:50Hey, Romeo, let's go.
00:01:52Hey, move it along!
00:01:55I guess I better not lose my job just yet.
00:02:01You sure we're done here?
00:02:03I love our picnics.
00:02:18Plus, in this spot, no one can see what a gargantuan appetite my wife has.
00:02:22Well, I guess I'm eating for two.
00:02:30For two?
00:02:36Wait, are you saying...
00:02:40Babe?
00:02:41Are you happy?
00:02:50Are you joking?
00:02:51Of course I'm happy.
00:02:53When does it happen?
00:02:55Well, I'm probably about four weeks, so eight months makes October.
00:02:59I'm going to be a dad.
00:03:06Yeah, and a great dad.
00:03:16Do you think you can come home a little bit early tonight?
00:03:19I like to call my parents and give them lots of time to freak out and lose their minds with excitement.
00:03:23Sure, sure, but I'd like to wait to tell my parents that I think it'd be best if we tell them in person.
00:03:31What?
00:03:32Like, Mama's always wanted a grandkid.
00:03:36It's not the daughter-in-law that comes with a grandkid.
00:03:38She doesn't get to decide that.
00:03:50I still think it's crazy.
00:03:51Your parents are in the whole town.
00:03:53For me, it's just where I grew up.
00:03:56I don't think so.
00:03:58You're like the prince around here.
00:04:01Does that make you a princess?
00:04:03Never said I wouldn't live.
00:04:08It's time to head off to the homestead.
00:04:13Remember, we've got news.
00:04:16It's going to turn your parents' world upside down.
00:04:19Just trust in that.
00:04:23We so rarely go south anymore.
00:04:26And your father has such responsibilities.
00:04:28Last month, he spent an entire week supervising the removal of the town's septic system.
00:04:33Was very involved.
00:04:34I'll show you the plans later.
00:04:36You need an engineering degree.
00:04:38Downside is, we don't get to see you kids enough.
00:04:41Well, um, we might have a reason for you to travel down a little bit more.
00:04:49Um, Lisa's pregnant.
00:04:57We're pregnant.
00:04:58Oh my god.
00:04:59Oh my god!
00:04:59Yes!
00:05:00That is wonderful!
00:05:02Oh, Jesus!
00:05:03Congratulations.
00:05:04We thought you were going to ask for more money.
00:05:09But you have this amazing news.
00:05:11Yes, it's amazing.
00:05:13Oh, sit, sit.
00:05:14How far along are you, dear?
00:05:15About five months.
00:05:16Oh, five months.
00:05:18No.
00:05:18And here I thought you just put on a little bit of weight.
00:05:20Oh.
00:05:20Mom.
00:05:21Well, I have put on weight, but all for good reason.
00:05:24This is great news.
00:05:25I just don't understand why you waited so long to tell me.
00:05:30We just wanted to be sure.
00:05:33First baby and all.
00:05:35Well, I am so excited.
00:05:36Let's go upstairs and dig out some of Darren's old baby clothes.
00:05:40Oh.
00:05:41Oh.
00:05:41Oh.
00:05:41I've kept them all.
00:05:43Well, we don't know if it's going to be a boy.
00:05:47Oh, it's going to be a boy.
00:05:51Let's break out that bottle of 12-year-old McAllen I've been hiding.
00:05:55Unless you want to go and take part in the maternity clothes search.
00:06:00Nope.
00:06:03Okay.
00:06:03Oh, wow.
00:06:07Oh.
00:06:10Darren never talked about it, really, but I just...
00:06:13I thought it might be important for the baby to know about his biological parents.
00:06:17Oh, I don't know.
00:06:18We adopted Darren at birth.
00:06:20Yes, but you still have the records about his parents, right?
00:06:24Certainly.
00:06:25I mean, he's always had amazingly good health, so there's never been any reason for concern.
00:06:29I just thought there might be other factors I'd be good to know about now that the baby's coming.
00:06:36Like what, exactly?
00:06:37I don't know what you mean.
00:06:40We raised Darren as our own.
00:06:43He has our values.
00:06:46Oh.
00:06:47Oh.
00:06:48Look at this!
00:06:50This was one of my favorites.
00:06:52Oh.
00:06:52Oh, the baby will look so cute in this.
00:06:55Take it.
00:06:56Oh, wow.
00:06:56Okay.
00:06:58Oh.
00:06:58Huh.
00:07:00Wow.
00:07:01They cast the heads to your specs, and then you get them in a couple of weeks.
00:07:05But I wanted the opinion of a future pro.
00:07:09I haven't made the tour yet, but I'd say there's other ways to cure a slice besides changing clubs.
00:07:16Well, take a club that forgives.
00:07:17I don't have your swing.
00:07:19How's your game?
00:07:21You keeping that handicap down?
00:07:23It's good.
00:07:25I just need to find the time to play more.
00:07:27No.
00:07:28No, that's not going to happen.
00:07:30Not with a baby coming.
00:07:32You sure you're ready for that?
00:07:36I don't really have a choice.
00:07:37You know, Lisa.
00:07:39I'm a face important to her.
00:07:41But I'm, uh, I'm happy about it.
00:07:44Good.
00:07:45This, it's a lifetime commitment.
00:07:53It feels good.
00:08:05Looks like we're having a boy.
00:08:08Am I right?
00:08:11What?
00:08:12Just your mom was right.
00:08:13She's going to be impossible after this.
00:08:16I'm so happy.
00:08:20I think we should set it up right over here.
00:08:23How tall is it?
00:08:25Maybe 12 feet, fully inflated.
00:08:28Then this is good.
00:08:30Just make sure it's tied down, okay?
00:08:32Hey, Dave.
00:08:33Is this for you a shotgun?
00:08:35Uh, no.
00:08:35First four sims at 7.
00:08:36You need to be open by 8.
00:08:37Not a problem.
00:08:39Oh, we're out of the big cuts.
00:08:40Again.
00:08:46I'm, uh, I'm going to go check out the sprinklers that are plugged up on 14.
00:08:53So you're not from around here.
00:09:12So you're not from around here?
00:09:17No, Reading.
00:09:19I was here for the job.
00:09:21I'm trying to earn a little extra for school.
00:09:24Admiral.
00:09:26I have to declare my major next semester.
00:09:29Stressful.
00:09:30You're smart, I can tell.
00:09:32You'll figure it out.
00:09:37So I spoke with my mom,
00:09:39and she still really wants to have a shower for me
00:09:42with her book club ladies.
00:09:43So I was thinking I might go down next weekend for it.
00:09:47Visit Grandma.
00:09:48Babe, I'm sorry, I can't.
00:09:49I've got another qualifying round and I...
00:09:51No, I know, dear.
00:09:52I said me, not us.
00:09:56Okay.
00:09:58You know what else?
00:10:00When it comes down to a name,
00:10:02I think there's only one choice.
00:10:05Oh, yeah?
00:10:06Yeah.
00:10:07Darren Jr.
00:10:12Are you sure?
00:10:13Yeah.
00:10:22Darren Jr.
00:10:37Go away.
00:10:41I'm horrible.
00:10:42At least you look good doing it.
00:10:44Let me just show you a couple things.
00:10:46Alright, one, your tempo is a little bit off.
00:10:49Two, I want you to pick a spot two or three inches
00:10:52in front of the ball and aim for that.
00:11:02Wow.
00:11:03That's crazy.
00:11:04Now you try.
00:11:09Here.
00:11:12Hold it.
00:11:14Don't jerk the club.
00:11:16In one slow motion.
00:11:23That's the best shot I've ever hit.
00:11:25Slow and smooth.
00:11:26That's the ticket.
00:11:31You're taking a lot to your folks.
00:11:34This bag is for the hospital, silly.
00:11:35Here, have a look at this.
00:11:36I'll call a cap and we'll just meet at the hospital.
00:11:40But the doctor said most first babies come in the middle of the night, so I bet you we'll be able to go together.
00:11:44Wow.
00:11:45Mm-hmm.
00:11:46You've really laid it all out here.
00:11:47Isn't this a bit early?
00:11:48You've got to be prepared, babe.
00:11:49I'm so bummed.
00:11:50I wish I could take you to the airport, but work.
00:11:51Oh, don't worry.
00:11:52I'll be back on Monday with mom and dad and we can finally get to the hospital.
00:11:55I'm so bummed.
00:11:56I wish I could take you to the airport, but work.
00:11:57I'll be back on Monday with mom and dad and we can finally prepare this place for the baby.
00:11:58I'll tell you dad, no speeding on the freeway.
00:11:59He's carrying precious cargo.
00:12:00Oh, that's right.
00:12:01So mom doesn't come in the middle of the night and we'll be able to come in the middle of the night.
00:12:02We'll be able to go together and go together.
00:12:03Wow.
00:12:04Well, you've really laid it all out here.
00:12:05Isn't this a bit early?
00:12:06You've got to be prepared, babe.
00:12:07So bummed.
00:12:08I wish I could take you to the airport, but work.
00:12:10Oh, don't worry.
00:12:11I'll be back on Monday with mom and dad and we can finally prepare this place for the baby.
00:12:16Well, you'll tell your dad no speeding on the freeway.
00:12:21He's carrying precious cargo.
00:12:23Oh, that's right.
00:12:26That's right.
00:12:27Be safe.
00:12:30Love you.
00:12:31Bye.
00:12:57Hey, pretty.
00:12:58It's Darren.
00:13:00What are you up to?
00:13:03Oh, he's here.
00:13:12Oh.
00:13:14Hi.
00:13:14Hello.
00:13:16Hi.
00:13:17Hi.
00:13:19Get over here.
00:13:21Look at you.
00:13:23Oh, you are glowing.
00:13:25You really are.
00:13:26You, you lucked into the mommy lottery.
00:13:29I hope you know that.
00:13:30Oh, I think I found some objections.
00:13:32No, not possible.
00:13:33Okay, you two.
00:13:34Let's get into the house.
00:13:36Oh, I hope you're ready to be fawned over for the next 24 hours.
00:13:39Your mother has not been this excited to throw a party since her wedding.
00:13:43Oh, I've heard stories.
00:13:44None of that is true.
00:13:47Hey, don't worry.
00:13:48I got the luggage.
00:13:49Hey, can you just hold the door?
00:13:52I guess not.
00:13:54What was that thing we had for the appetizer?
00:13:57El Amari?
00:13:58Yeah.
00:14:00That was great.
00:14:02I had a wonderful day.
00:14:04Me too.
00:14:05My favorite part was finally playing golf with the amazing Darren West.
00:14:10Not that amazing yet, but if some of these endorsements go through, the next year on the tour could be something special.
00:14:18See?
00:14:19You are amazing.
00:14:21You really are.
00:14:25Oh, yeah?
00:14:33Do you want to come over to my place?
00:14:35I don't know.
00:14:45I don't want to rush this.
00:14:47You know, you're right.
00:14:50I'll take you on.
00:14:51You've got so many wonderful presents.
00:15:02Smart baby.
00:15:03Right?
00:15:04Yes.
00:15:06So, how have you been feeling?
00:15:08What did the doctor say about your heart?
00:15:11Oh, well, I've had some rough moments, but nothing to worry about.
00:15:18Oh, right now I feel so, so good.
00:15:21Oh, look at those.
00:15:26Aren't they cute?
00:15:28Mom said she found them in a little shop just a few minutes from here.
00:15:32They're beautiful.
00:15:32And then, there's this.
00:15:39It was Darren's.
00:15:41I brought it to show you.
00:15:42His mom insisted.
00:15:43I take it.
00:15:44Oh, dear.
00:15:45Mm-hmm.
00:15:46I didn't know what to say.
00:15:47I was literally speechless.
00:15:49I guess the baby will have to wear it when we go to visit them.
00:15:52I don't want to incur their wrath.
00:15:56Well, we all love Darren, but family?
00:16:00I was intimidated by my in-laws as well.
00:16:02I mean, I never felt that anything I did would be okay with them.
00:16:08I can live with that, knowing that I get to be with Darren for the rest of my life.
00:16:11I feel like I can see the next 20 years right in front of me.
00:16:14I just can't wait for it all to start.
00:16:18So, I wanted to give you my present when we were alone.
00:16:27So, this little guy was actually your dad's.
00:16:31So, he was quite loved.
00:16:34I had to do a little bit of a repair so that he's ready for your little guy.
00:16:39Well, I'm so speechless, but this time for a good reason.
00:16:42You know, the most beautiful thing about having a baby is that they take the best parts of you,
00:16:53your passions and your values, and then they turn it into something better than you could possibly imagine.
00:16:58And then, they give it back to you in the most amazing way.
00:17:05Are you ready for this?
00:17:07The crying, the pooping, the boo-boos.
00:17:10I mean, you are going to be, oh, you're going to be exhausted and frustrated and at your wit's end.
00:17:16But, then they're going to grow up.
00:17:20And you are going to miss it so, so much.
00:17:26Even the pooping.
00:17:28Well, maybe not that.
00:17:29Hey, you've reached Darren.
00:17:38And Lisa.
00:17:39You know what to do.
00:17:40No luck.
00:17:43He's probably still out on the course.
00:17:46Sometimes they turn the floodlights on and play at night.
00:17:49Let him have his fun.
00:17:50Soon the baby will be here and there won't be time for that sort of thing.
00:17:54Oh, I know.
00:17:55How many onesies and sweaters does one child need?
00:18:13It's your mom.
00:18:14It's her first grandkid.
00:18:25Hey.
00:18:32What?
00:18:36You never make the bud.
00:18:39If you don't like it, I can always mess it up.
00:18:41No, no, no, no.
00:18:43If you're going to mess it up, we might as well do it together.
00:18:46That's what I like to hear.
00:18:49Hey, Darren.
00:18:50Lisa tried to call yesterday.
00:18:51Did you sneak in a golf game?
00:18:54Guilty.
00:18:54That's your dedication.
00:18:56That's why you'll make the tour.
00:18:58I'm making cocktails.
00:19:00Darren, you want?
00:19:01Sure.
00:19:02Coming right up.
00:19:03We need to talk.
00:19:06I think you might have to give up your man cave for the baby room.
00:19:15I knew this day was coming.
00:19:20It's fine.
00:19:21You sure you're okay with that?
00:19:22Of course.
00:19:22I'm going to get the rest of the bags.
00:19:27I trust you to find the perfect place for us to be together.
00:19:53That's what I want.
00:19:58Places.
00:20:00Memories we can call our own.
00:20:12Promise me it'll always be like that.
00:20:14I promise.
00:20:22I'm not sure it's a good idea that I should be moving Darren's stuff when he's not here.
00:20:25He was supposed to be here by now.
00:20:27He's always getting home so late.
00:20:29Maybe just start with putting those trophies in that box.
00:20:33I'm here.
00:20:34I'm here.
00:20:35Sorry I got caught up finishing the tourney.
00:20:38Let's get going.
00:20:38Hmm.
00:20:39Hmm.
00:20:58Let's go.
00:21:00Can I help?
00:21:09No, I'm fine.
00:21:11Just...
00:21:13Okay.
00:21:15Okay.
00:21:23I'm sorry I had to take away your man cave, babe.
00:21:27Maybe we can spend more time together to make up for it.
00:21:30You know I'd love to, babe, but I need to put in as many hours at the club as I can so I can take time off when the little guy arrives.
00:21:45I just...
00:21:47I hope we never become like one of those old couples with tons of baggage and regrets and resentments.
00:21:57I just hope we always stay like this, you know?
00:22:00We'll always be this way.
00:22:05Come on.
00:22:07Sleep, babe.
00:22:08Sleep, babe.
00:22:18Oh, God.
00:22:18Sleep, babe.
00:22:49So when were you going to tell me you were married, Darren?
00:22:52There hasn't been anything between us for years, okay?
00:22:54We've been talking about divorce since a month after our ceremony.
00:22:58Look, now I am looking for something real, something that's going to last.
00:23:02I heard she's pregnant.
00:23:03She deliberately got pregnant, thinking that it would somehow keep us together.
00:23:08Hey, look, she's only in the early stages.
00:23:10I don't even know if she's going to keep it.
00:23:12But when you want to be involved in the baby's life, if she does...
00:23:15What I want is to have a baby with someone I'm in love with.
00:23:19You think I'm stupid.
00:23:22No, no, no, no.
00:23:23I am the stupid one, okay?
00:23:25For making this mistake, hanging on for way too long.
00:23:28Listen, I just think that you're something special.
00:23:35I've got customers.
00:23:40Darren's okay with this new arrangement?
00:23:43I wouldn't say that, but who sees it's necessary?
00:23:46We have to put the little mister somewhere.
00:23:50That's weird.
00:23:51Our phone bill has all these calls up to Redding.
00:23:54Redding?
00:23:55What's in Redding?
00:23:56I think that's where Darren's going for the tournament,
00:23:58but I don't know why there'd be so many.
00:24:02Must be having an affair.
00:24:04Darren?
00:24:04I mean, I worry about a lot of stuff, but that's not on the list.
00:24:13Although we do feel disconnected.
00:24:15He works all the time now.
00:24:17We barely talk.
00:24:19We used to talk.
00:24:20And look at me.
00:24:21I'm turning into Jabba the Hutt.
00:24:23Honey, I understand.
00:24:26I remember when I was pregnant, I felt the exact same way.
00:24:30You did?
00:24:30Yeah, I did.
00:24:32And then you came along and you made us better, your father and I.
00:24:36And soon the baby will be here and all will be well.
00:24:40What?
00:24:40Where are you going?
00:24:42We're going to see my husband.
00:24:48Hello, sir.
00:24:49Welcome.
00:24:49Darren's doing well for himself.
00:24:51Yes.
00:24:52Yes, he is.
00:24:57Honey?
00:25:00Hey, babe.
00:25:04Hey there.
00:25:05What are you all doing here?
00:25:06We just thought we'd surprise you.
00:25:09Surprise.
00:25:14Hey, can I get you guys anything?
00:25:15The girl who normally runs this place is on her break.
00:25:19We're all fine, I think.
00:25:20I just came for a quick visit, but yeah.
00:25:24Hi.
00:25:25Elise.
00:25:25It's so great to see you.
00:25:27But I think you're confused.
00:25:28We don't have a delivery room here at the Corps.
00:25:30Oh, I just wanted to see my husband.
00:25:33He's been working so hard with all the trips up to Reading and back for the tournament.
00:25:38He's been putting in the hours.
00:25:40For sure.
00:25:41Dave's been the best boss.
00:25:43He really gets it.
00:25:45Oh, well.
00:25:45I have two of my own.
00:25:47I remember what it feels like.
00:25:48Still have the PTSD.
00:25:50But come on, please, sit.
00:25:52Sit.
00:25:52Ah, thank you.
00:25:54Let's look at you some snacks.
00:26:08I didn't know you had clients today.
00:26:10Yeah, they just dropped by.
00:26:13Missed you.
00:26:14Aw, missed you too.
00:26:15We'll be right back up a couple of days before the baby's born.
00:26:20We'll call you when we get you.
00:26:21We gotta go.
00:26:22If we want to miss the traffic, we gotta go.
00:26:23Okay, all right.
00:26:29What is it?
00:26:32I just wish you didn't have to go.
00:26:35I wish we didn't have to go there.
00:26:37It's fine.
00:26:42I'm just...
00:26:43I'm scared.
00:26:45It's silly.
00:26:46Having a baby is scary.
00:26:49There's no other word for it.
00:26:51Remember what your grandmother says.
00:26:53If it isn't a test from God,
00:26:55you can be sure it's a temptation from the other one.
00:26:58Yes, I'm leaving.
00:26:59I love you.
00:27:00I love you.
00:27:06There.
00:27:07I'll be back before you know it.
00:27:12No tears.
00:27:16Bye.
00:27:29Thank you so much for dinner.
00:27:31Of course.
00:27:31Thank you so much for coming down.
00:27:32Would you like some more?
00:27:33Oh, no, no.
00:27:35Okay.
00:27:35So, you're putting in the living room now.
00:27:43How's that work?
00:27:46Pretty much the same way it worked before.
00:27:48I putt.
00:27:50Either it goes in or it doesn't.
00:27:53We had to relocate him for the baby room.
00:27:56Uh, Raymond, would you like some more wine?
00:27:59No.
00:28:01Surely the baby will be sleeping in your room for the first few months.
00:28:05Any updates on the tour?
00:28:09I was in Reading, but I finished out of the rankings.
00:28:14That leaves.
00:28:14And that leaves what?
00:28:16Three more before end of season?
00:28:20Yes.
00:28:21He's been spending so much time getting ready for the baby,
00:28:24but now that that's done, he can really focus.
00:28:27Most players, if they don't make the tour on their first or second attempt,
00:28:32they never make it at all.

00:34:11Hey, hey.
00:34:14I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I think there's something special about you now.
00:34:19A special glow.
00:34:21Really?
00:34:22For sure.
00:34:24You're hot.
00:34:26You're smoking.
00:34:28I don't know how hot it can be when my makeup's all smeared.
00:34:31No offense, babe, but that's not exactly what I'm checking out.
00:34:37Oh, yeah.
00:34:39Yeah.
00:35:00It's just a hassle.
00:35:01I have to pick up all these banners for the tournament, so I've got to go all the way down to Emeryville.
00:35:05Oh, it's not fun.
00:35:07At least he'll be out from Dave's thumb for a couple of hours.
00:35:11Sorry you have to deal with all that, babe, but just think, when you're on the PGA, these guys will be bragging about how they used to work with you.
00:35:17True.
00:35:18How's your back?
00:35:21It aches, you know, all this weight, but it's okay.
00:35:26You have a doctor's appointment this afternoon, right?
00:35:28Yep.
00:35:29Every week until the birth from now on.
00:35:31Well, maybe they can give you something for it, but, you know, safe for the baby.
00:35:36Yeah.
00:35:37I'll ask.
00:35:40Yeah.
00:35:40Hey, how about a movie Saturday night?
00:35:42You up for it?
00:35:42I don't know.
00:35:46I get pretty tired in the evenings these days, but, I mean, if you really want to.
00:35:50No.
00:35:51I'd rather stay home with you.
00:35:52Maybe you're at a movie?
00:35:53Yes.
00:35:54Sounds perfect.
00:35:55Cool.
00:35:55Lisa, you can go in now.
00:36:24Right up.
00:36:25I don't know.
00:36:55I don't know.
00:37:25I don't know.
00:37:55Come on, come on.
00:38:25I don't know.
00:38:55I don't know.
00:39:25I don't know.
00:39:55I don't know.
00:40:25I don't know.
00:40:55I don't know.
00:41:25I don't know.
00:41:55I don't know.
00:42:25I love you so much.
00:42:27Is the baby okay?
00:42:29Nothing's wrong.
00:42:31I'll just stop the baby.
00:42:35The doctor's told me the knife missed your carotid artery by one eighth of an inch.
00:42:38Why?
00:42:39Why?
00:42:40Why did this happen?
00:42:45I don't know, sweetie.
00:42:47I don't.
00:42:48We're going to get through this together, okay?
00:42:51I don't understand who would do this to me.
00:42:55Hey, you just surprised him.
00:42:56You just surprised him.
00:42:57You just surprised him.
00:42:57That's all.
00:42:57There's nothing more to talk about.
00:42:59Okay?
00:43:00Unless you can identify him.
00:43:02He's wearing a mask.
00:43:09You're gorilla, man.
00:43:10You're gorilla, man.
00:43:12You're gorilla, man.
00:43:14Yes.
00:43:15You're gorilla, man.
00:43:15You're gorilla, man.
00:43:17Yeah.
00:43:17Right.
00:43:17Right.
00:43:17Okay.
00:43:18Right.
00:43:18Right.
00:43:19My mom and dad here?
00:43:20No, no.
00:43:21I haven't called them.
00:43:22I haven't called them.
00:43:24Call them, please. I need them here.
00:43:26I will right now.
00:43:29There's just one thing.
00:43:32Where?
00:43:33The police want to talk to you.
00:43:36They need a statement or something.
00:43:42There's a detective waiting.
00:43:47Do I have to? I can barely talk.
00:43:51It's okay.
00:43:53I'm right here, okay?
00:43:56It's okay.
00:43:58Okay.
00:44:01Just rest, okay?
00:44:03Just rest.
00:44:05I love you.
00:44:10So much.
00:44:12I'm Detective Goodwin, Mrs. West.
00:44:26I'm Detective Goodwin, Mrs. West.
00:44:42I know you're weak, but I'd like to ask you a few questions.
00:44:45Mr. West, do you mind stepping out for a moment?
00:44:52Do I mind?
00:44:53I'd like to stay with my wife.
00:44:55She was attacked.
00:44:56She's injured.
00:44:56I'm fine.
00:44:57If there's any issue, the medical staff will be summoned right away.
00:45:00I'll be right outside, sweetie.
00:45:12Mrs. West.
00:45:13Tell me about the man in the doctor.
00:45:21Give us a description.
00:45:24He wore a mask.
00:45:27A dark shirt, I think.
00:45:30I don't know.
00:45:31It was all so fast.
00:45:32That's all I can remember.
00:45:34Mrs. West, do you know where your husband was at the time of the attack?
00:45:37He was at work at the golf club.
00:45:41How are things in the marriage?
00:45:43Any fighting arguments?
00:45:45No.
00:45:46Never fight.
00:45:48Is he excited about the baby?
00:45:50He can't wait.
00:45:52He spent all this time making the baby's room perfect.
00:45:56Is there anything about your attacker that's identifiable,
00:46:01maybe reminded you of someone?
00:46:06No.
00:46:07Why are you asking me this?
00:46:11Are you suggesting my husband had something to do with this?
00:46:15It's pretty standard to eliminate the people closest to the victim of suspects
00:46:18before we move on with other possibilities.
00:46:24Okay.
00:46:25I'm just going to go back to the attack for a moment.
00:46:28Was there anything at all unique about what the attacker wore?
00:46:33Maybe, I don't know, a logo, a brand, a label?
00:46:36The mask.
00:46:37What about it?
00:46:39Stupid to say it, but it was a gorilla mask.
00:46:42A gorilla mask?
00:46:44Yes.
00:46:45You saw it clearly.
00:46:46It was inches from my face.
00:46:48I'm tired.
00:46:52I need to rest.
00:46:53Please, can we be done?
00:46:58If you think of anything else,
00:47:01tell the nurses to get in touch with me, all right?
00:47:03We're told 22-year-old Lisa West endured a horrifying assault and is now recovering in hospital in the intensive care unit.
00:47:20The police described the suspect as being of average height and filled.
00:47:35Anyone with information is asked to contact MindStoppers as soon as possible.
00:47:42Hello, Snack Shack.
00:47:44Hey.
00:47:45Babe, what's going on?
00:47:47Everyone's seen the news.
00:47:49That's your place, right?
00:47:51Lisa was attacked right in our apartment.
00:47:53She was stabbed, but I guess she's doing okay.
00:47:57Why are you calling me?
00:48:00You have to concentrate on taking care of her.
00:48:03But I want to see you.
00:48:07I don't think this is a good time.
00:48:11But I love you.
00:48:12I need to see you.
00:48:14I have to go.
00:48:23Mr. West.
00:48:25I'd like to ask you a few questions.
00:48:27Sure.
00:48:28Yeah.
00:48:29Go ahead.
00:48:31Where were you at the time of your wife's assault?
00:48:34I was at the golf club.
00:48:37I spoke to your boss, Mr. Dave Henderson.
00:48:39He says it was about 45 minutes when you were out of the office.
00:48:43He knows because he says he went looking for you to discuss some business about an upcoming tournament.
00:48:48Yeah.
00:48:49I was out of the course.
00:48:51He looked for you there as well.
00:48:53It's 18 holes.
00:48:54I guess he didn't look hard enough.
00:48:55Isn't it correct?
00:48:59It's about 15 minutes from the golf course to your apartment.
00:49:03You could easily have gone there and back in that 45-minute window.
00:49:06Listen, I'm cooperating.
00:49:10I want to answer all your questions, but do we have to do this here?
00:49:14I'd rather do this.
00:49:15Mr. West, can you excuse me for a moment?
00:49:23Just wait right there, please.
00:49:24Okay.
00:49:26Detective, I'm right back.
00:49:28Really?
00:49:29Mr. West, the officers are taking you into custody based on evidence gathered in your place of employment and in your home.
00:49:52You went to my work?
00:49:53You're choking.
00:49:54You're kidding me.
00:49:56You can't do this.
00:49:59Let me go.
00:49:59I didn't do anything.
00:50:01Darren?
00:50:02You have no evidence.
00:50:03When are they bringing back the baby?
00:50:17Is he okay?
00:50:18Darren Jr. is perfectly fine.
00:50:20It's all routine.
00:50:22They're going to bring him back in a while, okay?
00:50:24We need to figure out how to get in touch with Darren.
00:50:28He's all alone.
00:50:29He's got no one.
00:50:30Let's just worry about you right now, okay?
00:50:34The doctor said you're going to be okay.
00:50:38Here you are.
00:50:39Here you are.
00:50:40Little man.
00:50:42Oh, hi.
00:50:45Oh, he's perfect.
00:50:51Oh, hi.
00:50:52Hi, little man.
00:50:53Oh, hi.
00:50:54Oh.
00:50:55No, no, no.
00:50:55I can't.
00:50:56No, no, it hurts.
00:50:57I can't.
00:50:57Oh, it's all right.
00:50:58It's all right.
00:50:59It's all right, honey.
00:51:00Take some time.
00:51:01It's going to take some time.
00:51:04He's getting his own baby.
00:51:06I'll take him back to the nurse.
00:51:07Just keep it time.
00:51:08First steps.
00:51:11I don't feel like a mom if I can't help my own baby.
00:51:15You are a mother, and you're going to be holding him soon enough, okay?
00:51:19Okay?
00:51:23I need to call Darren's parents.
00:51:31What?
00:51:32I don't know if that's the best idea, honey.
00:51:36There may be some legal issues.
00:51:37Darren, he's my husband, and he's been wrongfully charged.
00:51:40I need to help Darren.
00:51:41Please just give me the phone.
00:51:43Okay, okay.
00:51:49Yes, Raymond was able to find a criminal defense attorney through some contacts he has in the
00:51:53construction industry.
00:51:54That's good.
00:51:55That's good.
00:51:56But Lisa?
00:51:58Yes?
00:51:59Darren's going to need you.
00:52:01He's going to need your strength and your support throughout all this.
00:52:05I'll do everything I can.
00:52:06Darren, I love him.
00:52:07I know that.
00:52:08He knows that, too.
00:52:10If you think of anything, I'd...
00:52:12You could speak to the police and find out why they brought him in on no evidence.
00:52:17The whole thing is insane.
00:52:18They barely spoke to me for ten minutes.
00:52:21We can't let Darren get caught up in this.
00:52:23We have to protect him.
00:52:25Yes.
00:52:25Would you like to come see the baby, Darren Jr.?
00:52:31The baby?
00:52:32Oh!
00:52:33Of course, we can't wait.
00:52:35Uh, we just have to get things organized here, and then we'll let you know.
00:52:40Okay?
00:52:41Bye.
00:52:45I want to get out of here.
00:52:46Okay.
00:52:55You don't have to do this.
00:53:04I can...
00:53:05You don't know where anything is.
00:53:07It's faster if I do it.
00:53:08Lisa, are you all right?
00:53:30I'm fine.
00:53:31I'm fine.
00:53:38Detective Rubin, is Lisa here?
00:53:45I was told I could find you here.
00:53:48Yeah, the hospital released Lisa, but as long as she comes down to San Diego and stays with us.
00:53:54I heard the delivery went well, and the baby's healthy.
00:53:58Congratulations.
00:53:58Why didn't you tell me you were going to arrest Darren?
00:54:02I was waiting for some information to be confirmed, and then it was.
00:54:06You don't understand.
00:54:07Darren didn't do this to me.
00:54:09He didn't do this.
00:54:14Let's sit.
00:54:16Found blood residue on his shirt, his shoes, and his car.
00:54:22We're still waiting for results, but we're confident it's yours.
00:54:26We also found a receipt for a costume shop.
00:54:30Kind where you buy a mask.
00:54:33It's not possible.
00:54:37The man who did this was waiting for you inside your apartment.
00:54:42There's no sign of forced entry, which means he had a key.
00:54:46The burglar would have gotten the hell out as soon as they got discovered.
00:54:49They have no motive to attack you or try and kill you.
00:54:52None.
00:54:52This wasn't a break and undergone wrong.
00:54:56This was an attack on you.
00:55:00Specifically on you.
00:55:02No, someone is framing Darren.
00:55:05Then there's the matter of the T-shirt.
00:55:11Yes, the A-shirt.
00:55:14We have testimony that Darren has an Oakland A's T-shirt.
00:55:17Which is exactly my point.
00:55:18If it was Darren, he'd hardly wear a shirt that I'd recognize.
00:55:22Lisa, the reason he wore that shirt is because he didn't think you'd be around to ID him.
00:55:29No.
00:55:33No.
00:55:35No.
00:55:36No.
00:55:37No.
00:55:39No.
00:55:40Are you sure about all this?
00:55:42Enough to make an arrest.
00:55:44We're still building a case, but we think we have a key witness now.
00:55:49No.
00:55:50No.
00:55:50No.
00:55:51No.
00:55:51No.
00:55:51I'm very sorry.
00:56:03Stupid.
00:56:05Such a cliche.
00:56:08It's not a cliche if it's true.
00:56:20Lisa.
00:56:21You okay?
00:56:40How could I not know?
00:56:43I can't get it out of my head.
00:56:46You saw him last week.
00:56:47Wasn't he in love with me?
00:56:49Wasn't he happy about the baby?
00:56:50Why not just ask for a divorce if you want it to be free?
00:56:53I don't understand.
00:56:57But I know one thing.
00:56:59What's that?
00:57:02I have to see him before I leave.
00:57:04What's that?
00:57:17What's that?
00:57:20What's that?
00:57:21What's that?
00:57:23What's that?
00:57:23What's that?
00:57:25I have to tell you.
00:57:27What's that?
00:57:28I have to tell him before you see him.
00:57:29What does he do?
00:57:30You're...
00:58:00Why?
00:58:02Just tell me why.
00:58:07I don't know.
00:58:09I don't remember.
00:58:12How could you not remember?
00:58:15It's just like...
00:58:20I...
00:58:21I remember like...
00:58:25Being there.
00:58:27I don't know what happened.
00:58:30I meant those vows when we sent them.
00:58:40Sweetie.
00:58:41Yes, I found you.
00:58:46If I could take back what I did, I wasn't a second.
00:58:48But all I can do is to prove it.
00:58:52Every day for the rest of my life.
00:58:56I don't know.
00:58:56People say there are tests.
00:59:01I have to face them.
00:59:04It's important being married.
00:59:06And I was ready for that.
00:59:13But this...
00:59:15I thought that the tests would come from the outside.
00:59:18I never thought that it could come from what my husband did.
00:59:20From how my husband hurt me.
00:59:22I brought this because I thought you should have a photo of your son.
00:59:45I'll leave it with the cards.
00:59:46He's beautiful.
00:59:57When I get out of here...
00:59:59We can get counseling.
01:00:00We can fix this.
01:00:01I promise.
01:00:03We can be a family again.
01:00:07Yeah.
01:00:07I promise.
01:00:10I promise.
01:00:10I don't know.
01:00:40It's okay.
01:00:44Oh, I'm sorry, honey.
01:00:46I'm sorry I was out in the garden.
01:00:49Oh, I didn't take his bottle very well.
01:00:51Oh, it's okay.
01:00:54Can I try it?
01:00:59Okay.
01:01:00Okay.
01:01:01Okay.
01:01:03It's okay.
01:01:04It's okay.
01:01:04It's okay.
01:01:06All right.
01:01:09Okay.
01:01:11It'll come.
01:01:12It'll come.
01:01:12It'll just take some time.
01:01:15Just give it time, okay?
01:01:16Okay.
01:01:17I got you.
01:01:19It's okay.
01:01:21Oh, honey.
01:01:27Honey.
01:01:31How are you feeling?
01:01:33I'm fine.
01:01:34I'm fine.
01:01:35I'm fine.
01:01:35I'm fine.
01:01:51Was this my fault?
01:01:52Oh, honey.
01:01:55Oh, honey.
01:01:56Let's never think that.
01:01:59This was something that happened to you, not something you did, let alone something you deserved.
01:02:08I mean, we all knew Darren.
01:02:10We all loved him.
01:02:14No one could have expected this.
01:02:18If Darren did this, then he's sick and he needs help, right?
01:02:23Oh, he certainly is sick.
01:02:28And he's not going to get the help he needs in prison.
01:02:33So I could...
01:02:34I could testify for him.
01:02:40And we can get counseling together.
01:02:43And after a while, he returned to being the man he was, the man I married.
01:02:46Is that how I make it better?
01:02:53No, it isn't.
01:02:58No.
01:03:01No, Lisa.
01:03:04It's a miracle you were saved, but you weren't saved to help Darren.
01:03:09You were saved so that your child could be a priority.
01:03:12So that your strengths can become your child's strengths.
01:03:16You have so much to give your son, but first you have to value yourself so that he will do the same.
01:03:33Oh.
01:03:36Oh.
01:03:46Detective Goodwin told me that you planned to testify on Darren's behalf at the hearing.
01:03:54I think you should reconsider.
01:03:57I don't believe he snapped.
01:03:59This is something he planned.
01:04:02I am sorry to have to tell you this,
01:04:05but Darren was having an affair.
01:04:07I don't believe you.
01:04:19Is this his handwriting?
01:04:20Her name is Michelle Morris.
01:04:30She works part-time at the golf course.
01:04:33Those are love letters they exchanged.
01:04:40Redding.
01:04:41Does she live in Redding?
01:04:43She's cooperating with the investigation.
01:04:49She was unaware of Darren's plan to kill you.
01:04:52He told her you were getting a divorce.
01:04:53You'll see that in the letters.
01:05:00Hmm.
01:05:01It says here they started in August.
01:05:08Yes.
01:05:11I was seven months pregnant.
01:05:14I'm sorry.
01:05:18And six weeks later he tried to kill me, that's what you're saying?
01:05:23Yes.
01:05:24The fact is, unless you choose to testify against Darren,
01:05:29the likelihood is he will be released on parole,
01:05:32and whether or not he goes into counseling will be entirely up to him.
01:05:36Are you prepared to take that chance?
01:05:41I don't know.
01:05:45This is a man who attacked you,
01:05:48who left you for dead.
01:05:50A man who conducted an affair
01:05:52while you were eight and a half months pregnant.
01:05:58I don't think you can trust him
01:06:00to do anything you want him to do.
01:06:03You will have the full support of this office.
01:06:06I will personally prosecute the case.
01:06:12Okay?
01:06:16Lisa,
01:06:17why do you think you were able to withstand
01:06:19such a brutal attack?
01:06:22I don't know.
01:06:23Luck, I guess.
01:06:25No.
01:06:28I think it's because Darren had no idea
01:06:30how strong you are.
01:06:33He thought it would be easy
01:06:34to kill you.
01:06:37To kill an eight and a half month pregnant woman.
01:06:42But you are a fighter.
01:06:45It's just you were fighting for the wrong thing.
01:06:47Sorry, I left instructions
01:06:54for us not to be disturbed.
01:06:56Yes, Abby.
01:06:57Sorry about it.
01:06:58You're fighting for the home of Lisa.
01:07:00It's for you, Lisa.
01:07:02Lisa.
01:07:02How?
01:07:11I don't understand.
01:07:26We didn't want to tell you.
01:07:29Her heart condition
01:07:30has been getting worse.
01:07:32You didn't want to tell me?
01:07:33It was just all too much.
01:07:34We just wanted to wait
01:07:35until you were fully recovered.
01:07:37Anna, I didn't know.
01:08:00I don't hear it now.
01:08:04That's all that matters.
01:08:05I don't know what to do.
01:08:18Let him go.
01:08:31Let him go.
01:08:35Go.
01:08:42Mom.
01:08:46Mom.
01:08:48Dad.
01:08:52Mom.
01:08:57Mom.
01:08:58Mom.
01:08:59Mom.
01:09:00Mom.
01:09:02Can you describe what occurred the day you were attacked in your own home?
01:09:12Yes, I was returning from the doctors. I was carrying groceries.
01:09:16I apologize for interrupting. You were at the doctors because you were pregnant, correct?
01:09:21Yes, I was eight and a half months pregnant.
01:09:24Darren tackled me. Did he strike you?
01:09:38Multiple times.
01:09:42I had bruises.
01:09:45And in the course of the attack, what happened next?
01:09:50He brought the knife up to my throat.
01:09:54He cut me.
01:10:00I fell.
01:10:03He brought the knife up and cut me again.
01:10:08Then a third time.
01:10:10And you mean he cut your throat. Is that right?
01:10:15Yes, he cut my throat.
01:10:18How many times?
01:10:21Five or six times I lost count.
01:10:25Did the knife attacks result in substantial bleeding?
01:10:31There was blood all around me, yes.
01:10:39Now this is important, Lisa.
01:10:42How did you survive?
01:10:44I...
01:10:45I...
01:10:57I stopped moving.
01:11:03I held my breath.
01:11:04Because if he noticed you were still breathing, he would come back and, you know, make sure.
01:11:13Make sure of what?
01:11:18That I was dead.
01:11:23And the baby?
01:11:24Yes.
01:11:32Our baby, too.
01:11:35So this was not just one attempted murder, but two.
01:11:41Yes.
01:11:44It'll take a while till they're ready to start cross-examination.
01:11:47Just stay here and I will come and get you when you call.
01:11:49Why is it taking so long?
01:12:03I don't know.
01:12:04Wait, what's happening?
01:12:10Darren's pleaded guilty to premeditated attempted murder.
01:12:13The judge has set sentencing for June.
01:12:15Because he pleaded, at sentencing, it's probably going to be life with the possibility of parole.
01:12:20And what that means is...
01:12:21Wait, when do I go in?
01:12:23You don't.
01:12:24He pleaded out.
01:12:25It's over.
01:12:27But he gets parole?
01:12:29It's a possibility because it was attempted murder.
01:12:31And not actual murder.
01:12:33So what you're saying is he might get parole because he didn't kill me.
01:12:36Try not to look at it that way.
01:12:37I know that life in prison doesn't actually mean that, but I...
01:12:39I just didn't think it was going to happen like this.
01:12:42I know, Lisa, but this is a victory.
01:12:44That's what you should take away here.
01:12:47Why did he just give up like that?
01:12:49Because his lawyer saw how amazing you were.
01:12:52How compelling your testimony was on the stand.
01:12:54You made this happen.
01:12:56I never got to hear him admit his guilt.
01:13:03I never got to hear him explain why he did what he did.
01:13:07I know, but he is guilty.
01:13:10You beat him again.
01:13:12I got it, Lisa.
01:13:30I got it.
01:13:30Okay, I'll go.
01:13:32I got it.
01:13:33I got it.
01:13:34I got it.
01:13:35I got it.
01:13:36I got it.
01:13:37I got it.
01:13:38I got it.
01:13:39I got it.
01:13:40I got it.
01:13:41I got it.
01:13:42I got it.
01:13:43I got it.
01:13:44I got it.
01:13:45I got it.
01:13:46I got it.
01:13:47I got it.
01:13:48I got it.
01:13:49I got it.
01:13:50I got it.
01:13:51I got it.
01:13:52I got it.
01:13:53I got it.
01:13:54I got it.
01:13:55I got it.
01:13:56I got it.
01:13:57I got it.
01:13:58I got it.
01:13:59I don't know.
01:14:29I don't know.
01:14:59I don't know.
01:15:29I don't know.
01:15:59I don't know.
01:16:29I don't know.
01:16:36I don't know.
01:16:37I don't know.
01:16:38I don't know.
01:16:39I don't know.
01:16:40I don't know.
01:16:41I don't know.
01:16:42I don't know.
01:16:43I don't know.
01:16:44I don't know.
01:16:45I don't know.
01:16:46I don't know.
01:16:47I don't know.
01:16:48I don't know.
01:16:49I don't know.
01:16:50I don't know.
01:16:51I don't know.
01:16:52I don't know.
01:16:53I know.
01:16:54I know.
01:16:55I haven't been a very good mother to you for a while now.
01:16:58And I don't have a lot to do to make it up to you.
01:17:01But I'm here now.
01:17:02I promise to be the best mom that I can be.
01:17:08I promise to be the best mom that I can be.
01:17:09I promise to be the best mom that I can be.
01:17:15I promise to happen.
01:17:17I'll see you there.
01:17:22Hey.
01:17:25What?
01:17:26I'll see you there.
01:17:27Hi mom!
01:17:29Morning!
01:17:30Hi!
01:17:31Morning!
01:17:32Do you think we'd be able to do the afterschool pick up today?
01:17:45Today I have a meeting that starts right at five.
01:17:47Sure.
01:17:48Oh, I almost forgot.
01:17:51There's mail for you on the table.
01:18:10Are you all right?
01:18:11Yeah, I'm fine, I just...
01:18:15What is it?
01:18:18I'm surprised at how upset this makes me.
01:18:24I'm sorry you had to come all this way.
01:18:26I'm in town for a conference.
01:18:28There's no way I'd pass up the chance to come and see how you were doing.
01:18:31I mean, I make it through the days, and then something will happen.
01:18:35I'll take a look at Connor and catch a glimpse of Darren.
01:18:39I'll see a faint trace of my scars when I'm doing my makeup in the morning,
01:18:43or I'll receive my divorce papers in the mail,
01:18:45and then I'm brought right back there.
01:18:46So I'm not free of it yet.
01:18:50I can't say I'm fully recovered, if I'm being honest.
01:18:55You changed your son's name.
01:18:57I mean, he deserved a chance at his own life.
01:19:02A life away from everything that happened with his parents.
01:19:08I also came by because Darren's first parole hearing is in about three months.
01:19:13I wanted to find out how you were feeling about making a victim impact statement.
01:19:18Is it going to make any difference?
01:19:20It's just so frustrating.
01:19:22I...
01:19:24If I hadn't reached the phone and dialed 911, Darren would have been executed.
01:19:28But now, after every few years, he gets a parole hearing.
01:19:31It's like they want him out.
01:19:33Well, they do.
01:19:35Prisons are overcrowded.
01:19:37He's been a model prisoner for three years.
01:19:40Your presence is their conscience.
01:19:45That's why they're hoping you won't show.
01:19:47Lisa, why did you find the trial so unsatisfactory?
01:19:57I mean, Darren was convicted after all.
01:20:00Sure, but it all happened behind closed doors.
01:20:02But you testified.
01:20:03That's not enough.
01:20:04It's not enough.
01:20:08I wanted to see the judge take my words into account.
01:20:11I wanted to see Darren's sentence reflect them to feel some validation.
01:20:15Not for him to just slip away one more time.
01:20:17So this is your chance.
01:20:18Otherwise, you'll see him walk.
01:20:20This is your opportunity to see how your words can extend his sentence.
01:20:26I'm pretty sure his lawyers will find a way to make sure that never happens.
01:20:29You can change that.
01:20:32You can.
01:20:33This is an initial parole consideration hearing for Darren West, CDC number J23239.
01:20:48On June 13th of 1994, the prisoner was received in the CDC pursuant to Penal Code section 1168.
01:20:57For violation of Penal Code section attempted murder on 187, first degree, Alameda County case number 114846.
01:21:07That was count one.
01:21:08There were two additional counts that were stayed.
01:21:10One was 12022.7.
01:21:13That was great bodily injury with the same case number.
01:21:17And also the use of a deadly weapon, 12022B.
01:21:21Again, the same case number.
01:21:25Mr. West, how do you feel about the act you committed?
01:21:29I don't feel good about it at all.
01:21:35Can you explain why?
01:21:38It was a selfish and inconsiderate thing to do.
01:21:41Do you now have insight into what happened and the tools necessary so that you don't act that way again?
01:21:48I do.
01:21:50I get counseling from my pastor who comes up to see me once a week.
01:21:54Let's take a look at your psychological evaluation.
01:21:57Inmate West takes full responsibility for stabbing his wife repeatedly.
01:22:05He showed good insight, noting his inability to communicate his feelings and self-centeredness.
01:22:11This inmate did seem genuinely penitent for his crime.
01:22:18Do you have any comments about this report?
01:22:22No, sir.
01:22:24Thank you, Mr. West.
01:22:28Ms. Backers, for the state.
01:22:31Thank you, Commissioner.
01:22:32The victim in this case, Lisa Aguilar, has traveled a great distance and at considerable cost to address this hearing.
01:22:39We'll hear from her, of course.
01:22:41Ms. Aguilar?
01:22:42I think that with all this talk about counseling and repentance, it's easy to forget the reality of what happened.
01:22:59So, I brought pictures.
01:23:00Ms. Aguilar.
01:23:01And this is me today.
01:23:05This is what Darren did to me.
01:23:12and this is me today

01:23:37I had to relive it all over again
01:23:41Darren might not have succeeded in taking my life
01:23:47but that doesn't mean he didn't change it forever
01:23:50you see when the police came to me after the attack
01:23:54they had to convince me of his guilt
01:23:58long before he ever faced a judge and jury
01:24:01and for the longest time I didn't believe them
01:24:04how could this man who I thought cherished me
01:24:08how could he hurt me
01:24:10let alone want to kill me
01:24:12after all the last time I saw him
01:24:15he was a loving husband
01:24:16what the police were telling me seemed inconceivable
01:24:19but I came to see it was true
01:24:23this parole application
01:24:28it's his attempt to make me again
01:24:31a victim
01:24:32he's making a victim of his son
01:24:43as well
01:24:44who is surely as innocent as can be
01:24:47if Darren is released
01:24:53we'll be looking over our shoulders
01:24:55every day of our lives
01:24:56is Darren going to finish what he started
01:25:00is he going to shadow his son's life for years to come
01:25:04by commuting his sentence
01:25:06you are sentencing us to live with that fear and uncertainty
01:25:10Darren's crime is not over
01:25:13we live it every day
01:25:15I plead with you
