Pratibha Raghunath Namde, 38, is receiving treatment for psychosis. She recalls excelling in school until ninth grade, before unexplained frustration took over. Once fond of sewing, she now spends long hours staring into the distance, praying for relief, or attempting small chores. Even minor stress unsettles her — memory falters, appetite diminishes and sleep is disrupted.

Her family has spent nearly a lakh on treatment, selling jewellery and exhausting savings, yet they remain caught between exhaustion and concern. They once turned to religious ceremonies and healers, performing rituals and sacrifices, but found no improvement.

Community health workers now intervene with home visits and regular check-ins to prevent treatment lapses, though side effects from medication cause her pain. Moving to Aghai has brought some stability, allowing her to eat and sleep better.

Her story reflects the heavy burden carried by both patients and caregivers, and the critical role of consistent support.

00:00This is where I had a problem.
00:04And we couldn't hospitalize any problems.
00:07We couldn't hospitalize any problems.
00:09I couldn't stop.
00:12What should we do?
00:13We wouldn't be able to do that.
00:15We wouldn't be able to get the doctor,
00:17go out or take the doctor.
00:19We wouldn't be able to do that anymore.
00:30There is a whole team of Ben A.N.
00:36There is an outreach program here.
00:40There are many community help workers who are in Ben A.N.
00:46They are in every village, every small village.
00:51They visit home and that is how they mobilise the people.
00:56They help them, help them and get their patience.
01:06I have a question and ask them if they ask me.
01:14They say, if they ask me, I will ask you.
01:17They ask me, if they ask me, if they ask me, I will ask you.
01:21They ask me.
01:22They ask me.
01:23So many people didn't write books before, because they didn't have basic documents.
01:40So they couldn't get rid of the government's scheme, like many people's birth certificate.
01:48The reason is that their birth certificate has been in the house, so they didn't have any requirements.
01:56So if they want to get rid of them, then our staff can guide and support them.
02:08There are many patients here. There are many epilepsies.
02:13In addition to psychiatric illnesses, if you can see, there is a lot of depression.
02:18Then there is a lot of somatoform disorders.
02:21Even if patients can't handle their stress, they can see some somatic symptoms.
02:27So there is a lot of information here.
02:29There are many people who had 17 milliseconds, and there are many people who were living in the house that were also living in Northaria.
02:41We didn't have an answer for a long time.
02:43We are a lot aware of the costs.
02:44Yes, it's good.
02:45We both lose.
02:46In 2017, we had 10 to month.
02:47It's a bit hard.
02:49We had about 10 to month.
02:50What happened?
02:51?
02:58?
03:00?
03:06?
03:16We have to get more cooperation with people. We go to the faith healers and convince them to come and treat them with their own, but you can convince them that the patient needs to come to us.
03:31So what happens is that the patient's flow is increasing. Because their faith or their belief, they believe that they don't have to say anything about the doctor.
03:47So all of these things, the patient's flow and finally the patient gets relief.
