New council chamber opens at Petersfield Town Hall, with Jean Hick, widow of three-times mayor Kenneth, doing the honours. The room has been named in memory of her husband.

00:00Special welcome to Jean. Thank you very much for being here. This has been on the cards for quite a long time and I appreciate myself as a councillor. Thank you very much for joining us. Jean, I'm going to ask you to say some words if you will and then I'm going to play.
00:15Thank you. In 1952, it was my father's office when he was treasurer of the Urban District Council. It later became my office when I worked for the town clerk and then went on local government reorganisation in 1974 when I worked for the District Council.
00:38Ken was a church's boy. He was a town councillor for 47 years and three times town mayor and I know he would have been immensely proud to have been honoured in this way. Thank you.

01:38It was very nice. I think I'm a bit surprised there's not quite so many chairs for visitors as I would have expected because one thought one of the objectives was to try and encourage more people to come.
01:53But yeah, it's a big improvement.
