00:39performance the offensive performance and i want to ask you it seemed like josh mcdaniels who a few
00:46weeks ago we were asking questions like too much on your plate whatever how are you guys getting along
00:50seemed like he was uh dialing up a lot of things that worked really well yesterday there was that
00:55little series with the the screen the end around then the fake end around run um seemed like you
01:00and josh were very much uh clicking yesterday is that fair to say true that's what he's done that's
01:07what that's what done for a long time um just glad that uh kind of really able to go and build each
01:12and every week we got guys uh that can have great skills and do different things so i think that we're
01:17starting to kind of get something going so just gotta keep going in the next week and we had a tough
01:21challenge drake i know you were playing yesterday against the team you grew up rooting for being a
01:27charlotte native did you get a little extra geeked up a little extra fired up to play uh a team that
01:32you grew up cheering for and also uh hitting the cam newton celly in the end zone was that planned
01:38improvised uh just kind of like a little spur of the moment exciting thing yeah you know and um you
01:45know the team i grew up watching spent so many games um in bank america stadium back home um used to be
01:50the kid with the the panther uh the panther eye paint and the panther face paint um shoot growing
01:57up but uh no i think it was i don't know if i had a plan but i had an idea before the game i didn't
02:03know if i was gonna do it or not and just kind of one of those things where you decide when
02:06it's the right time or not so it was the right time you mentioned in terms of that celebration that
02:12you're not the most emotional guy cam was a more emotional quarterback and sometimes maybe you need
02:17to be a little bit more emotional but can it also be a good thing it seems like if you're not super
02:21emotional that probably allows you to be a little more even keeled not get too high or too low can
02:27that be a benefit to you yeah there's a common balance between that you know trying to be
02:32even keeled and nothing really bothers you nothing gets you amped up and there's also uh shoot the
02:39part of where teammates want to see you amped up and feed off that so just trying to find that and
02:43um i think the guys respond to it well so just a good balance between that so remandre obviously
02:49had a tough week week three against the steelers uh putting the ball on the carpet two times but
02:54coach rabel understands his value to the team and how important it is to try to get work to push past
03:00those mistakes uh how important was it to have him out there for you and the offense and what kind
03:06of message do you think that sends to your team oh it's huge it's huge it's confidence um it was
03:12confidence from from the coaching staff it's confidence from the guys around us you know we
03:16didn't blink an eye you know we knew you know what mandre um his capability and uh his effort
03:21to take care of the football and he almost got in the end zone he really showed up um but uh no i
03:26thought it was great to see him bounce back and look forward to him we're gonna need him all season
03:29as much as it looked easy on paper and we're talking to drake may on a patriots monday here on
03:34weei afternoons the game got off to a little bit of a slow start the defense gave up the drive you guys
03:39had the the three and out and then you got the big punt return shortly thereafter how much did uh
03:45marcus jones punt return for a touchdown just inject life in everybody and sort of jump start would
03:50ended up being a route yeah i think that could be kind of a yeah like that could be a jump start can
03:56be the kind of uh igniter i think it really was um you know we had the first day where i missed booty
04:01behind him and um you know from there i think just kind of felt like okay let's get these things let's
04:06get this thing going and that's what we feel like on the sideline i think you know office responded
04:10well the next drives and i really felt like the whole day that um you know defense and
04:14they're supposed to put some great spots and we just kind of had to finish off the job
04:17uh so steph diggs said uh in his postgame presser as well yesterday what did he say he's a
04:24five out of ten so far yeah he's at he's only at a five out of ten and understanding
04:28the mcdaniels offense looks pretty impressive for only being a five out of ten
04:32uh where would you put yourself numerically uh on a scale of zero to ten in understanding
04:38uh where everything is offensive um yeah i i don't know about zero out of ten i feel good
04:45i feel good each every week i think it's um i feel good terminology and feel good getting
04:50in and out of some plays and getting you know different run looks so i'm feeling better each
04:55and every week you know i think steph you know really was hoping you know the five out of ten
04:59meant he's got a lot you know better to go which i think was what we need but uh um
05:04no really from there i think we just gotta keep building keep building and we still have our
05:07best play ahead of us and i think we're gonna need that tonight you have uh been talking about
05:12wanting to get steph the ball more and he had six catches 100 plus yards yesterday there was one
05:18catch in permit in particular that stood out to me that throw down the right sideline sort of the
05:23back shoulder he came back for it um usually those back shoulders are an indication that a
05:28quarterback wide receiver pretty good rapport kind of on the same page uh is that a safe read from
05:33afar and is that exciting to you sort of how that relationship is growing between you and steph
05:38yeah it's continuing to grow you know most of the stuff has been kind of across the middle and
05:43crossing around some steps so it's good to see something outside you know uh you'll hit and i think
05:48close is just feel a feel between the receiver and i think he uh you know made a great play and um
05:54you know i need to get him in the end zone so that's probably the next thing he's got to break
05:57maybe one more tackle or so but no i was so excited to see him do that and uh yeah it was good for
06:02him to get back out there and um you know have a great week great obviously to get a home win for
06:08the fans after three tries on the 2025 season uh now you guys are sitting at two and two but i'm not
06:14sure if you're aware statistically of how good things are going for you as well now you're
06:19accomplishing things early on in the season drake uh with your passer rating rushing touchdowns
06:24passing touchdowns that you're now in rare company of the lamar jacksons the josh allens of the world
06:31and there's actually a completion percentage and touchdown pass stat that compares you to tom brady
06:37how uh how does it feel to be in such vaunted company this early in your second season
06:42oh shoot we got a lot of work to do and and uh especially myself so um you know those things
06:48are cool that they bring out those stuff and stats but um like i said i think getting wins is what those
06:54guys are remembered for and um you know we got a uh you know tough stretch of games and starting
06:58sunday night so we got to get uh get back out there and and keep it going you told us last week that
07:04it's never as good or as bad on film as you think it is so obviously the points the statistics said it
07:10was a really good game now that you've broken down the film what's one thing that wasn't as good as
07:15you'd hoped it could be or that you need to work on um yeah i think just a little thing a little
07:21details on plays you know to make it better you know i think i missed craig on the flat a little
07:25bit behind them um i missed booty in the first possession a little bit behind them so just try to
07:29be as happy as i can i missed the open across you know the middle oh so just the little things of
07:34um you know the incompletions i did have i feel like we could have had back and had them complete
07:39so still things there and then um i thought the guys played hard and played well so so no no comment
07:44on my teammates i thought they played you know did a great job uh your coach said yesterday at the end
07:49of his post-game press conference drake uh went on a little bit of a diatribe going on about some of
07:54the things that guys do that don't always show up on the stat sheet uh you know like yesterday
07:59obviously pop douglas had had a tough time getting going but had a big block uh i believe on one of
08:04the i forget exactly what hunter henry the hunter henry play thank you very much andy um so how
08:09much uh how much does it mean to have those little moments highlighted and do you guys always make a
08:14point of emphasis to shout out the guys that don't always show up on the stat sheet yeah coach bravo does
08:19a great job in team meetings of uh pulling that out and uh you know pop out a couple of huge blocks
08:25throughout the game you know on the tight end screen the hoop on the second drive a huge block and
08:29that's right i just like commission the hunter touchdown run um as well so just guys that are
08:33keeping on just showing up and um they care about winning that's what uh coach bravo's preaching that's
08:37what's going to show up and you know the ball's going to find these guys that just keep playing
08:40hard so you know proud of that and that's the stuff i'm feeling that um you really look at back
08:44the teammate coach guy man um that's pretty cool seeing that patriots quarterback drake may here on
08:49a patriots monday on weei afternoons drake uh week one was a big game for booty then it went uh your
08:56your guy uh stevenson then it went hunter henry then it was stefan digs how exciting as a quarterback
09:03is it to kind of show everybody says oh this team doesn't have a number one target but you show up
09:07each week and a different guy has been your number one target you have a bunch of guys that can put
09:12up numbers and beat the defense yeah i keep telling people that and i think you're starting to see it
09:18you know we got a lot of good guys have made plays and agree with the ball so i'm sure they're not
09:22um shooting out what the play is it's or not who gets it it's just uh really just who happens to
09:28get that play and who uh you know who uh you know falls apart in the progression or the read or
09:33the scheme and i think uh coach mcdano's doing a great job with getting guys in that spot and we
09:37got and the crazy part we've left a lot of plays out there on film that you know probably should
09:41you know have even bigger games for other guys so well i know i've mentioned the names of a lot of
09:47other quarterbacks during this interview but uh obviously in your short time in the nfl drake
09:51you've been compared to josh allen it's a great benchmark as well obviously he's having a phenomenal
09:57career mvp caliber season again they're atop the afc east 4-0 and now you guys get to travel to orchard
10:05park uh to um renew rivalries with some very friendly fans uh over there for buffalo how excited
10:12do you get facing off against somebody like josh and how much do you love going into hostile
10:17territory like that yeah i think it's and i love going on the road i love playing away games i've
10:23loved it since high school football where you go into you know your rivalries um at their place and
10:28and win a game with the student section so um i love the college and and uh you know starting to
10:33love the nfl it's it's awesome going on the road and um it's a challenge it's tough and uh i think it
10:38feels good when you get one on the road so uh yeah tough challenges um it was tough as you did
10:42to the afc with with the bills and how they've played the past couple years and um yeah i think
10:48we went there last year and um you know started fast and i think we just gotta uh try to have the
10:53same mindset you know start fast and um you know i think it's about us like it like it like it did
11:00you know this past week it's about us and not about them and um like i said we got a tough challenge
11:05and looking forward to it josh allen's a guy that finds the end zone with his arm and with his legs
11:09you've been doing that early in the season so this may be a little bit of a unique question but what
11:14feels better throwing a touchdown pass or scoring a touchdown run oh i think throwing a touchdown pass
11:21i think when two people score it's a lot better so i always try to tell guys hey if it's if i choose
11:27if you're wide open and i'm wide open to run it i'm gonna throw it so that's what i'm always telling
11:31but if you do have to run it in um i know the guys aren't too mad about it either before we get
11:37to the quarterback question of the week i noted yesterday in your press conference after the game
11:41you referenced the one sack which was a short sack and you you joked that you apologized to the uh
11:47the offensive line did you kind of screw them out of a shutout there yeah exactly that's what i did
11:53and uh it's it's it's it's just a bummer um i'm just mad at myself but hey um you know i think
11:59those guys know it it wasn't on them so um yeah i apologize and i tried to do that i think i'm
12:05taking a couple no yard sacks here which is uh i think i even took one running out of bounds one
12:10time so i just gotta be mindful of that and know those guys um they'll put their butts off all game
12:15so it means something to them and they do a great job of keeping so yeah you could make it up uh with
12:20a christmas gift or maybe like a nice steak dinner sometime yeah no doubt oh yeah you gotta start
12:26thinking about those christmas gifts you quarterbacks in the nfl everybody's watching
12:29and everybody plays one they're giving out cars and atv yeah it's probably you know i know it's
12:36only late september you probably you probably gotta start that on your to-do list what you're gonna
12:39get your linemen this year have you have you thought about it at all yeah yeah you gotta start
12:44on early and um i think it's one of those things where you can't do it last minute you gotta put some
12:49thought into it and those guys care about it so also helps if you get a sponsor involved i think
12:53brock purdy got toyota to basically give his offensive line cars so you get the credit but

13:15ever been starstruck and i think this is probably based on you know you've talked about you met cam
13:20newton and bill belichick and tom brady and then even yesterday jalen brown's on the field mark
13:24walberg have you ever been starstruck or who would you be starstruck by if you met them
13:29that's a great question yeah i really haven't found myself being starstruck um kind of in person
13:37i think it's one of those things uh that kind of starstruck kind of get surprised by them so most
13:43of the people that i've met i kind of know they're have an idea there um i think as a as a young kid
13:49i used to get starstruck when you see when you see players come up to you and um you know being
13:53at old camps training camps and seeing cam newton and luke keekley and those guys uh since my time
13:59as a as an adult you know i think maybe the first time meeting probably meet tom when i met tom you're
14:06a little starstruck i mean the greatest to ever do it it's probably probably the it's probably up there
14:11at number one um for me so anytime you see the best to do it it's pretty cool on the flip side of that
14:16you said you remember being starstruck by players have you experienced that when you're meeting kids
14:21now that drake may is making them feel starstruck yeah i think it's pretty cool i think it's i know
14:27you see people dressing up as me for halloween and stuff like that that um yes it's a it's a good
14:32reminder of how much i can mean to you know kids and fans out there um so no it means the world
