Savannah Bentham's parents wiped away tears as the court heard how Savannah was fatally injured by the family’s pet XL Bully, Biggie — a dog they had always described as “lazy”.
Savannah was alone in the family’s static caravan near Malton when the dog attacked, causing fatal neck injuries.
She was found in a foetal position, with the dog nearby and covered in blood.
Despite the efforts of neighbours and paramedics, she could not be saved.
The inquest heard Biggie was fully legal, microchipped and had no known history of aggression.
Coroner Jon Heath concluded that Savannah died from injuries inflicted by the family dog and offered his condolences to her parents.
The inquest has now concluded.
