00:00What was once the largest public sector housing scheme in Wales could soon be completely transformed.
00:07Phase 1a of the Pen Rees Regeneration Project being led by Housing Association,
00:14tribalists will involve as many as 121 new houses being built on land to the north of Pen Tintila in the Rhonda village.
00:23These will be a combination of two to four bedroom homes and a single apartment block with 71 market homes and 50 affordable units.
00:33It's part of a wider master plan to regenerate the area which proposes the delivery of around 850 new homes,
00:41plus a mix of uses to support the new housing.
00:44This includes a replacement primary school, church, community facilities, shop and new commercial spaces,
00:52as well as green spaces for walking, cycling, play, recreation and biodiversity enhancement.
