00:00The reform of the Senedd which passed earlier on this year is one of the biggest changes
00:04we've ever seen to politics in Wales. It means that from 2026 new rules will be in
00:10place for different candidates in the election and most notably the number of members will
00:14rise from the current 60 all the way up to 96. In the next year or two we'll see some
00:20of those changes begin to settle in with the latest change giving Welsh constituencies
00:25a very new look. New proposals announced by the Electoral Commission show their plan to
00:30reduce the number of constituencies in Wales from 32 down to 16. It combines current constituencies
00:37into two and will give more candidates per constituency with the new rules. One of those
00:42constituencies that would be called Dwyfor, Meirionnydd, Montgomeryshire and Glyndwr would
00:47be one of the biggest we've ever seen and stretch all the way from the Llyn Peninsula
00:51in the west all the way across to the English border in the east. The consultation period
00:57will now last until the end of the month.
