Common causes of noise-induced hearing loss include:

✔ Recreational exposure – frequenting loud concerts, prolonged video gaming, etc.
✔ Occupational exposure – working in environments with loud machinery or industrial noise.

Both the intensity of the noise and the duration of exposure are key factors that contribute to hearing damage.

00:00Myself, Dr. Haripriya, Senior END Consultant, Kaveri Vadapalini.
00:04I think there are two types of noise-induced hearing loss.
00:07It may be recreational.
00:09That means, if there is a music concert,
00:11there is a lot of sound,
00:14there is a lot of video games,
00:16it can damage your hearing.
00:18Otherwise, it may be occupational-related.
00:21There is a lot of IT field,
00:23or work from home,
00:24there is a lot of colds.
00:26There is a lot of factory-related
00:28or machinery-related sound exposure.
00:31If there is, sound-induced damage can come.
00:34So, the duration of the sound,
00:36there is a lot of sound.
00:39And plus, its loudness,
00:41both are equally important.
00:43So, if there is a lot of symptoms for patients,
00:46usually, if there is a lot of noise,
00:49or if there is a lot of fullness,
00:51or sometimes, a lot of bitterness.
00:53So, how can we prevent noise-induced hearing loss?
00:56So, one of the most important cause
00:59for preventable hearing loss is
01:01noise-induced hearing loss.
01:02So, maximum, what we should prevent
01:04is to avoid the exposure.
01:06If there is exposure,
01:07if there is exposure,
01:08or if there is work-related,
01:10or if there is a lot of work-related,
01:12we should use hearing protective devices.
01:15If there is hearing protective devices,
01:17there is ear plugs, ear muffs,
01:20noise cancellation devices are there.
01:22So, if there is exposure,
01:24then, our hearing test will be done.
01:26So, hearing test,
01:27annual hearing check-up is very important.
01:30And limit exposure times.
01:32So, in between,
01:33we have to take short listening breaks
01:35so as to protect our hearing.
