00:00All right, we told you that Brock Purdy spoke.
00:02Let's take a listen.
00:03The first question is obvious.
00:05Hey, dude, you playing?
00:07It's been good.
00:08I really like where I'm at with the progress, with it healing up
00:12and feeling better and dropping back, throwing, and I like where I'm at.
00:16So it's been good.
00:16So you're playing Sunday for sure.
00:18We'll see.
00:19Yeah, I'm taking it day by day still, but I feel a lot better.
00:24So you're playing for sure, super double, sure, positive, right?
00:28Yeah.
00:28Yeah, we'll see.
00:29Feeling good.
00:30I mean, feeling good, Lewis.
00:32Yeah, there was a grin in there.
00:34Right.
00:34Yeah, I mean, it sounds like he's playing.
00:36Other than having a setback, absolutely.
00:39And I do think that had the game last Sunday been on Monday,
00:43he might have been able to go on Monday.
00:45I think he got to that spot, and it was, yeah, it was not 50-50,
00:49but probably 70-30, and so they took the more cautious approach
00:53and held him out.
00:54All right, how's the toe healing, Brock Purdy?
00:56I liked my progress last week with where I was at,
00:59and in terms of feeling better, getting better.
01:02And so it was just a day-by-day decision.
01:05It's the same thing this week, but, I mean, it's no secret.
01:08Like, it's been two and a half weeks or so, and just overall, man,
01:13my toes healed up.
01:15It's gotten better.
01:15And so when Eddie hit the game-winning field goal, yeah, I could jump a little bit.
01:20So I was good enough to do that.
01:21Okay.
01:21He was able to jump for joy when Eddie won the game.
01:26He was asked, everybody's poking different ways to get him to say that he's going to play.
01:30Have you done enough at practice to play on Sunday?
01:34Definitely.
01:35Just dropping back and throwing and feeling good about, you know,
01:38playing the position of quarterback.
01:40And, you know, for me, it's still a day-by-day thing, you know,
01:44going up to game time and see how I feel.
01:46But I really do think that it's been good progress, good work,
01:50and I just feel better overall just with my body and mentally of attacking this game plan
01:56and being ready if I'm able to go.
01:59Okay.
02:00It's funny the way he said that there at the end.
02:02Like, if I'm able to go.
02:05Right.
02:06I mean, the tone of it certainly sounds like he is.
02:08Hey, remember our conversation last week about can you make it worse?
02:12I mean, obviously you can.
02:13You're playing football, so you could.
02:15But he was asked that question.
02:16Here's his answer.
02:17Honestly, it's, you know, it's just like any other injury.
02:20You know, if you hurt something, then, you know, you can go back out
02:24and there's a chance or a possibility of it happening again.
02:27That's the nature of the sport that we play.
02:30But, you know, for me, like I said, if I'm stepping out in the field,
02:34I want to feel really good and not thinking about anything else in terms of,
02:38am I going to hurt it, am I not?
02:40If I'm on the field, I'm not going to be thinking about that.
02:43I just think as 49er fans, we kind of have to settle
02:46with the anxiety.
02:48I totally get why it's there.
02:50We've been battered by this as fans.
02:52There's no question about it.
02:54It seems constant.
02:55You eye roll.
02:56The frustration happens every Monday right now.
02:59There are a lot of years that feel like this.
03:01But at the same time, like, if a player's ready to play, they play.
03:09If a player's ready to play, they play.
03:11For me, where I struggle is the concept of it's only week four,
03:17so bottle him up so that you can have him later.
03:20I think it diminishes the importance of this game and every game, number one.
03:24And number two, I do not think it guarantees anything later at all.
03:28Yeah, and number three, that's not the way this works.
03:32Like, if he is good enough to play, he plays.
03:35If Christian McCaffrey is good enough to go out there and catch and block
03:40and run with the football, then you're not going to just think,
03:44all right, 22 snaps.
03:47We're already ahead of pace where we want Christian to be, so that's it.
03:50We're going to keep him at 22 touches at the most.
03:53If he's healthy, you play him.
03:55And if you play him, you use him to where you win the game.
03:58So if he's at 26 touches and there's five minutes to go and it's third and one
04:04and you need to pick up a first down, but he's at 26 touches, he gets the football.
04:08If he's healthy, if he's at 30 touches and it's third and two
04:13and you need a touchdown and you're at their 20-yard line,
04:16you call a play to throw him the football.
04:18And it doesn't matter if he's on pace for 423 touches.
04:21And Stiney did the math and he's not wrong that that is a gaudy number.
04:26But you've had really tight games and you don't have other weaponry.
04:31So if you're in a tight game again against Jacksonville, and spoiler alert,
04:35I think it's going to be a really tight game.
04:36Vegas thinks so too.
04:37It's a three-point spread.
04:39If you get in that spot, either you're leading and you need to salt it away,
04:43he gets it, or you're trailing and you need to recover, he gets it.
04:47So it's the same thing with Brock.
04:49If he's good enough, he plays.
04:50More Purdy, Demarcus Robinson is back with the team.
04:53Awesome.
04:54Just having him back out and obviously seeing what he had done at camp.
04:58And it's the same thing.
04:59He comes back out and is feeling fresh and looks great and great hands.
05:05So excited to have him back and in the game plan.
05:07I'm glad that we've got three games under our belt.
05:09I'd like to throw something at you right here.
05:11Demarcus Robinson adjacent.
05:14Ricky Pearsall looked like a one to you?
05:16Yeah, sure.
05:17Okay.
05:18Sure.
05:18When Juwan Jennings is healthy, you like the presence that he brings to the field?
05:23Yeah.
05:24You know, yeah, he's been clutch.
05:26You're excited about, like, Demarcus Robinson is a veteran, successful player,
05:30and had a really good camp, according to all reports.
05:34So.
05:35Super excited about it because of what he potentially brings that nobody else has right now.
05:40Which is?
05:41Take the top off.
05:42Okay, take the top off.
05:43Take that top off.
05:44You know, with this hot weather we've had, you want to take the top off and just let
05:47the sun shine down.
05:48This offense so desperately needs a threat.
05:52All right.
05:53So pretend everybody's healthy.
05:55Okay.
05:55It's super exciting.
05:56I know that's a crazy thought.
05:57Brandon Ayuk, too?
05:59Or.
05:59Well, that's my question.
06:00Oh, sorry.
06:01I jumped the cue.
06:02It's okay.
06:02Darn it.
06:03All right.
06:03What do you do?
06:07Like, Ricky Pearsall, Jawan Jennings, Demarcus Robinson, and then here comes Brandon Ayuk.
06:13What do you do?
06:14I think it's going to be situational.
06:17Ricky gets the 85% share of receiver snaps, and then situationally.
06:24Third down, yeah, Jawan.
06:26If it's just a two-receiver set, Demarcus, you're not going to play.
06:30If Ayuk is totally healthy, and it's, you know, second down and four, and you're going
06:36to run it, you're going to have Jawan in there instead of Brandon, because Jawan's a
06:39better blocker.
06:40I think it's situational.
06:41And maybe it will only be this way for the rest of the year, because he's only getting
06:45a half year, and he might still be getting his legs underneath him and whatnot, but my
06:48God, what an expensive situational player.
06:53Yeah.
06:54Holy hell.
06:54I mean, I just, like, this is obviously down the road.
06:58Way down the road, yeah.
06:59It'll get itself figured out, but I wonder what that receiving core is going to look like.
