00:00you know in the history of basketball there are only two dudes two in the history of basketball
00:05to ever score 3 000 points in a season michael jordan did it back in 87 will chamberlain did it
00:14twice in his storied career but nobody else has done it michael came close again in 88 he was about
00:21132 points short colby's 06 season which is one of his greatest seasons of all time from a scoring
00:27standpoint he had 2832 so he was a buck 68 away and james harden if you remember the 2019 season
00:36for james harden he had 2818 so again just under 200 points away lebron ain't even close so i was
00:44thinking when i saw that stat today is there a possibility we ever again have a 3 000 point
00:52scorer in the nba and just quick math i already did it so i'll help out at the segment move along
00:58you would have to play all 82 games and average 36 and a half points a game there's only one player
01:07to me that came to mind that current ball players in his prime would have a legitimate shot of getting
01:14to the 3 000 point barrier and i think this is one of those records that never gets broken again not
01:20because the players aren't talented enough too but because they don't play enough games anymore
01:24the 82 games so the one name that came to my mind who has a legitimate shot he's he's in the early
01:30parts of his prime would be sga he's a flat scorer he has the he's ball dominant right and they're
01:38going to have to play and they're going to have to break up that team they're not going to be able
01:41to afford to keep that team together his burden is going to rise i was trying to think of all the
01:45other great scorers in the league lebron's clearly not going to do it at this stage of his career and
01:50didn't do it in his prime can you think of another guy that a plays 80 82 games which is rare enough
01:57and b has the ball enough in his hands where he'll get enough shots off to average just under 40 points
02:04a game there's one other guy i can think of because he plays a lot of games give me uh let me see if i
02:08guess give me which conference west in the west in the west and makes the playoffs every year the last
02:12few years in the west and a guard a guard in the west makes good i'm not gonna guess ant man anthony
02:20edwards because he plays 78 to 80 games yeah and he'll have the ball a lot yeah he's i'm saying it's
02:25probably impossible like you mentioned yeah he would have a shot he would have to probably take
02:30another 10 shots a game based on his current averages yeah uh julius randall would have to take
02:34a major back seat which with age he will anyway you're talking about that's probably it's not he doesn't
02:40play point which is a problem but there are times he has the ball in his hands a lot a lot in that
02:44timberwolf offense not a bad one i wouldn't argue i think it's jay because he's a guard has a better
02:49shot because he controls the flow for oklahoma city but it's like we always talk about the
02:53dimaggio hit streak is the one uh record in baseball that no one's ever going to break 56 consecutive
02:59games with a hit no i just don't think anyone's ever going to break it no i don't think we ever
03:04have a 3 000 point score ever again you're probably right
