00:00This is Project Runway.
00:09Wow, wow, wow.
00:11Okay, guys, let's vote.
00:13I feel bad for them.
00:15I'd rather be here than making that decision.
00:17I'm so shocked that we need to vote out the designer for this challenge.
00:23This is the Project Runway first.
00:25It's really hard because it feels like you're crushing someone's dreams
00:30and there's blood in your hands.
00:32But it's Project Runway.
00:35One day you're in and the next day you're out.
00:38All right, designers.
00:39Can you guys gather in your votes and bring them over to me?
00:46I'm gonna miss you.
00:48Oh, man.
00:51This is everybody.
00:52I'm a little nervous that these designers are gonna vote me off
00:56just to separate my brother and I.
00:58We're powerful together.
00:59And they will send their biggest threat home.
01:01Joseph, Joan, Antonio.
01:04Two of you will be in and one of you will be out.
01:09The first vote is for Joseph McCray.
01:15The second vote is for Miss Joan.
01:20I don't want to go home on a design that didn't speak to who I was as a designer.
01:26I hope the other designers keep me in the competition.
01:30The third vote is for Joseph McCray.
01:34Child, do not play.
01:37So that's two votes for Joseph and another one and you'll be out, okay?
01:42Oh, my God.
01:43I guess this is when the true competition shows because do they feel like my look is the worst?
01:49Or is it because I could be the most threat in this competition?
01:55The fourth vote is for Antonio.
01:59My brother might be going home right now and I'm freaking out.
02:05The next vote is for...
02:09Joseph McCray.
02:13Daddy.
02:14Oh, he's going home.
02:16No.
02:17I'm so sorry, Joseph.
02:20So that means you're out.
02:22I don't know if the vote was strategic, but if it was a game that they wanted to play, I guess the game has been played, so...
02:31It was such a pleasure working with you. I think you're incredibly talented.
02:36I know who you are.
02:37I can't wait to see more of your clothes.
02:38You will.
02:39I know.
02:41I'm really sad to have my best friend in the competition leave.
02:44And I wish that I had stood up a little bit more for Joseph.
02:48I don't know that I could have swayed four people.
02:51Bye, everyone.
02:53No problem.
02:55I love you, too.
02:57As much as I didn't want to go home.
02:59Listen, don't worry about me because, baby, I'm about to be famous.
03:04Still iconic, bitch.
03:05Don't forget.
03:06And that's a wrap.
03:07Later, loves.
03:09Bye.
03:12Say goodbye to law.
03:13Bye, love.
03:15Thank you, guys.
03:16Thanks for saving me.
03:18How are you guys feeling?
03:19That was definitely a curveball.
03:21And I think we're just, like, all full of emotions.
03:25Mylon, you're very shaken up.
03:27I'm angry.
03:30Why?
03:31You have to make tough decisions in this business.
03:32No, I know.
03:33Not like that, though.
03:34No.
03:35I don't think it has to be that personal.
03:37It's hard.
03:38Trust me.
03:39I've been there.
03:40I get it.
03:41But it's a competition, and only one of you wins.
03:43Yeah.
03:44Everyone's going home at some point.
03:47It's designed to survive.
03:50And we're going to go into your next challenge now.
03:53This competition is challenge, runway, one-day challenge, sewing, runway, club, challenge, no time, no sleep.
04:08Gaga would not be proud.
04:11Fashion takes inspiration from all kinds of things, art, music, even the unconventional.
04:18So for your next challenge, you'll be creating a runway-worthy version of your unconventional materials look, completely made out of fabric.
04:31Runway version.
04:32Runway version.
04:33I know not to use denim.
04:36Wow.
04:38If I had the energy to scream, I'd probably be screaming quite a bit.
04:42I didn't love the look that I made.
04:44And it can't just be a story.
04:46Visual, meaningful, they have to connect.
04:49Because both looks are going to walk down the runway together.
04:53Wow.
04:55Oh my God.
04:57Wow.
04:59Head home tonight, do some sketching, get some rest, and then I will meet you at Mood in the morning.
05:04Thank you, Chris.
05:05Good night.
05:06Thank you so much.
05:07Bye.
05:09For the next challenge, I'm really going to step my up because I want to prove to the judges that I am an amazing designer and stylist.
05:16I think the only complaint in my life is a roach.
05:19So we got to fix that.
05:22Let me get that cardio.
05:24Speed it on.
05:25Never take a slap.
05:26Get in the zone.
05:28Friction pens are amazing.
05:30Who would have thought that you could erase a pen?
05:33Guys, that was rough.
05:35Ms. Joan, how do you feel?
05:37You're back for another week.
05:38Yeah.
05:39Just need to process everything.
05:40Yeah, okay.
05:41I'm going to put Joan on the runway.
05:43Oh my God, this is a great opportunity to show your other side.
05:47I said tailor.
05:48I've been tailoring for over 20 years.
05:50This is what I do.
05:51I can tailor a suit.
05:53So this is my opportunity to bring it.
05:56Look, that's sick.
05:58I don't even sketch.
05:59My suits usually tell them what to sketch for me.
06:02I'm jealous of you guys for having brothers.
06:05I think it's an advantage.
06:06It's a huge advantage.
06:07No, it's a huge advantage.
06:08It's a huge advantage.
06:09Because they're going to, no matter what, help one another.
06:12The last challenge was the first individual challenge, but the twins are still working together.
06:19If that is what it takes to win for y'all, awesome.
06:22But I'm able to eat it up without having family in the room.
06:26Although I have a question.
06:27Do you think both of you can do one challenge where you're completely separate?
06:32Because you're used to be like working each other.
06:34Yeah.
06:35So maybe for this challenge, like just challenge yourself.
06:38Let's not help each other and let's see what's going to happen.
06:41I think that BJ is smart.
06:43Do you know how to play the game?
06:45What's going to be the outcome?
06:48Are you up for the challenge?
06:50As an individual designer, I know I can do it.
06:53I know I'm talented.
06:54I know I'm good.
06:55Let's shut this bitch up.
06:56Let's prove to them this challenge.
06:59I'm excited if they can actually do it.
07:02We will see.
07:03Done.
07:04So that's completely solo challenge.
07:07BJ, over my dead body that you think you're going to separate Antonio and I.
07:12So now it's on.
07:15All right, remember this challenge runway worthy version to kind of complement your unconventional
07:30look.
07:3130 minutes, $350.
07:32Okay, go.
07:33Here we go.
07:34Right now.
07:40Just take a half yard off and then I can get that.
07:43Keep working.
07:44You just started.
07:45Put that backpack down and dig through these roles.
07:47All right.
07:48Oh, we need pins, bitch.
07:49The two boxes.
07:50Of course.
07:51The twins are shopping together.
07:54I am so shocked.
07:57The happy twins.
07:58Going gray again.
07:59Mm-hmm.
08:00Boring.
08:01I'm capable of a lot more than when I put down the runway in the last challenge.
08:05However, to turn something that I hated into something that I like is going to take some
08:13real work.
08:14You don't want anything iridescent-y?
08:15I think that that's pretty iridescent and I'm going to do stuff to it.
08:19My confidant, my best friend here, Joseph McRae has left.
08:23So, I'm definitely feeling that loss.
08:25And I need a solid amount of time to sit with what happened.
08:29But I don't have time to do that.
08:32Designer.
08:33Designer.
08:34Designer.
08:35This looks like rotten in here.
08:38Oh, it's Miss Jones' dress.
08:40I don't want to see that.
08:42Last challenge, I was so far in the bottom that they had to dig me out the dirt.
08:48It looks like dead vegetation.
08:50Just throw her in a compost.
08:53I have to take inspiration from it.
08:55I'm going to try and redeem myself.
08:57So, I'm going to have to show Laura who I am as a designer.
09:01Leave it all on the runway.
09:03I really don't want to look at this all day.
09:05I've shoved a bitch in the corner.
09:07No one puts baby in a corner.
09:10However, I need her gone.
09:13One, two, three, four.
09:15Hello.
09:16Hey.
09:17Oh, is that the crotch?
09:22It's a banana hammock.
09:24Oh.
09:25Wow.
09:26I want to create a cocoon outer shell gown that reveals into like a J-Lo butterfly sexy moment.
09:35Oh my God, but you have so much to make.
09:37Just two pieces.
09:38Okay.
09:39You can't have her whole butt out though like that.
09:42I want about this much crap.
09:44I can do it all for you.
09:46How are they going to connect visually in some way?
09:48I think because these are triangular, they're going to be covering the whole thing.
09:52Oh.
09:53Wait a minute.
09:54Am I hurting your ears?
09:55Yes.
09:56All right, I'll stop.
09:57You can wait.
09:58I didn't love the look that I made last week.
10:00That's not me.
10:01So I'm making these hard kind of sharp edges into something more soft.
10:07She's going to be feathery.
10:08She's going to be bird-like.
10:10She's going to be awesome.
10:11Happening over here.
10:12I want to keep that same silhouette where it's see-through and sexy.
10:15Mm-hmm.
10:16So I want to do a cigarette pant with a corset.
10:19Your corset top needs to be incredible.
10:21It's going to fit well.
10:22Make sure.
10:23I'm trying it right now.
10:24I'm pretty fast.
10:25Okay.
10:26Last challenge, I almost got voted off, but I'm here for another week and I'm going to set myself apart from the other designers and my brother.
10:32I want to stand out.
10:33I already do because I'm gorgeous.
10:36Perfection.
10:37Okay, I can figure this out.
10:40The look was very rock and cool.
10:42Yeah, that's what I wanted.
10:43But you're doing like an evening gown.
10:45So it's like, how do you make that feel like edgy?
10:47I wanted to utilize the red instead of doing a front lapel to incorporate a back lapel.
10:53I mean, you have to have the red.
10:54Yeah, of course.
10:55In some way to visually connect.
10:56Of course.
10:57So it's a gown, right?
10:58Yes.
10:59This is very street wear, very I'm going to a bashment party.
11:02Uh-huh.
11:03You know?
11:04And this is very I'm stepping on the runway.
11:06I've never made a dress specifically like this before, but I want to showcase my skills as far as gown making goes for a curvier woman.
11:17It's a flag dress.
11:18When I think of soccer, I think of World Cup.
11:20All these countries, it's exciting.
11:23My idea is to make this black and white soccer ball bomber jacket with this big flag dress that celebrate the energy of a soccer stadium.
11:32Edit the colors like you edited those colors.
11:34Yeah.
11:35On that look.
11:36Remember, visually connected.
11:37Yeah.
11:38Wow.
11:39That's pretty.
11:40For this one, I want the boning to be outside.
11:42Yeah.
11:43I really want to make another structure using the boning.
11:48It's a very meticulous process because boning is something that you need to hand sew.
11:53But I haven't worn yet and I want the judges to see my impeccable craftsmanship in all the things that I do.
12:00This is my power.
12:01My hands.
12:02Wow.
12:03This is a beautifully cut suit.
12:05Yeah.
12:06Clearly you can make clothes.
12:07So I get that you want to do this beautiful, amazing suit, but I think the connection will still be important, you know?
12:13And that's why I'm trying to still keep the connectivity with the corset tree.
12:17With the corset tree.
12:18I was even thinking of taking the popsicle sticks.
12:21If you do that, I quit right now.
12:23Cha-cha!
12:28I just want them to see something here that they didn't see there.
12:32You know, Law really didn't like this dress.
12:34You gotta prove them wrong.
12:35Okay.
12:36Law have mercy.
12:38Everyone is a little worried about me, you know, but I got this.
12:42I'm a fighter.
12:43I've been through the hardest fight of my life.
12:47Back in 2020, I made it onto the cast of Project Runway for the first time.
12:54But I also found out that I had breast cancer.
12:57And I needed to start treatment immediately.
13:01My biggest fear is during that time is, am I going to be strong enough to fight and beat this thing?
13:08But let me tell you, I rang that bell and Mama Joan is four years cancer free.
13:16This is more than just a competition for me.
13:19This is a full circle moment.
13:22To win Project Runway would be such a validation.
13:28I want to show that I can be an inspiration to so many women out there that there is life after, you know, being diagnosed.
13:37Who knows?
13:46Oh.
13:47I'm like a walking zombie right now.
13:50I think the one day challenges are definitely starting to take a toll because, like, there is no time to rest.
14:05Like, I'm not even, like, to be honest, like, even inspired to do this.
14:17Seeing my brother going through all the emotions, that's not usually his persona.
14:21He's usually stronger than I am.
14:25I'm really concerned because I want him to still be in the competition.
14:32No, no, no.
14:35I don't even want to do it, to be honest.
14:38It's a lot.
14:39Should we go home?
14:40No.
14:41Come on.
14:42I'm really sorry that Jesus is struggling, but so am I.
14:47Like, I wish I have my best friend here so that I have someone that I can lean on to.
14:51But, you know, I have to deal it on my own.
14:53Someone needs to take that sense of comfort from them so that they can realize that this is a competition.
15:00I see everybody keeping an eye on us.
15:02All them bitches want to separate us.
15:04He's my twin brother, so if you with my brother, then you're going to have two enemies.
15:12You get a model.
15:13You get a model.
15:15Baby.
15:16Let's do it.
15:17I made it a little bit big.
15:19Is it asymmetrical, this top?
15:21Yeah.
15:22Well, it looks kind of like a little bit like a mistake because it's like not enough.
15:26I think you still have to figure out this understructure.
15:28Yeah.
15:29For me, I don't, it doesn't look like anything.
15:32You all right?
15:33I'm just...
15:34You're just so tired.
15:35You're beat down.
15:36You're done.
15:37It's a lot.
15:38It's a lot.
15:39Suck it up.
15:40You've already been here before.
15:41Don't worry.
15:42You're fine.
15:43It looks fabulous.
15:44Get it together.
15:45Yeah.
15:46It's going to be cool.
15:47I like it with just one side.
15:48I do too.
15:49It's kind of fab.
15:50I'm really grateful to have Christian.
15:52I think he sees a vision.
15:53I think he likes my work.
15:55And that just really, truly gives me strength.
15:58I'm ready to show the judges exactly what I am made of.
16:05That red stripe on Jesus' gown is looking pretty familiar.
16:10What the ?
16:11Here we go.
16:12I've been working primarily on the outer part, so I have a lot of finessing to do.
16:18Are you realizing that this doesn't work?
16:20It needs a lot of zhuzhing.
16:21So what are you going to do?
16:23Okay.
16:24Let's try on the other dress.
16:25The dress underneath is not good.
16:27Do you think I should scrap the whole reveal?
16:29I think you have to scrap one of them.
16:31Yes.
16:32That's what I'm saying.
16:33Then you still have one look.
16:34You got to try something.
16:35I think the shoulders could still be more.
16:38Yeah.
16:39This is the only one that I left, but I think I can elaborate it more.
16:42Hand sewing is a major component to execute that design.
16:47And I don't have a lot of time left, but I've applied to be in the show since 2012.
16:53I've waited for 13 years.
16:55And now that I'm here, I'm not going to waste any opportunity to show the judges what I can do.
17:02You just dislike it.
17:04This looks really messy.
17:06The frayed edges on this looks very amateur.
17:10Okay.
17:11I really don't want this amateur tag to be put on me.
17:15That's a fear of mine because I taught myself for the most part.
17:19So my construction skills are sometimes behind other people.
17:23I got to figure it out.
17:25Maybe the organza looks a little more refined and beautiful and soft.
17:30And maybe it's that all over in diamond shape.
17:33Yeah, that's helpful.
17:34I'm going for soft, feathery, maybe like a snowy egret.
17:38But I'm seeing a dirty, dirty little pigeon.
17:42That's it designers.
17:43I'm in trouble.
17:44Say goodbye to your models.
17:45Oh God.
17:46Oh, I haven't had to pivot this hard at all this competition.
17:56Two dresses is too much.
17:58So the J-Lo dress is dead.
18:02I'm going to take this cocoon and make an extensive alteration.
18:06Okay guys, one hour.
18:08I want my brother here to help me.
18:16They're both really talented.
18:17So am I jealous?
18:19Yes.
18:20And like, I want that.
18:22I have to redo my sleeves because they're ugly.
18:27I have to make the entire skirt.
18:29I'm feeling like this is deeply, deeply undoable.
18:33We have a show to do.
18:40Fashion superheroes, here we come.
18:43B-게-aks, M-R-E-S-S, F-E-E.
18:50Woo, it's cold.
18:52Nits out.
18:55Melania.
18:56Hello.
18:57Hi.
18:58Sorry to scare you.
18:59Yes.
19:00Emily's called in sick.
19:02So what we are thinking of doing
19:04is if we can move Shanae over to this look
19:07and we'll use the alt model for your episode four looks.
19:11Ooh, she's a lot smaller.
19:14Oh, dear God.
19:16Oh, my brain is frying.
19:19I made my dress to fit my size 20 model like a glove.
19:24What are you saying to me right now?
19:26I have three hours to make this size 20
19:29into a size 14, 12.
19:32I don't even know where to start right now.
19:33Model!
19:36Side boobie showing.
19:37Yes, we're going to cover for booties.
19:39I had to find another way to use the black sheer.
19:42So I think having a little bit of sexy side boob moment
19:45and the scarf will be a little nod to the original piece.
19:49How are you guys doing?
19:51Good.
19:51Good doing.
19:52Lania, how's it going?
19:54My hand stopped shaking.
19:55I can sew.
19:56You can do it.
19:57I don't know.
19:59It's beautiful.
20:00I'm gorgeous.
20:01Thank you for that advice.
20:02What would I do without you in my life?
20:04You're starting to make me have a crush on you.
20:06Everybody has a crush on me.
20:07Hello.
20:10What is that little thong?
20:11What in the world?
20:12Marina, I made you a floss.
20:15I am a Latina hooker, a sexy hooshie mama.
20:18Not everyone can make a thong.
20:19I know it's just a little strange,
20:21but you got to get the right measurements
20:23because you don't want to see a camel toe with the floss.
20:26I don't know what that is.
20:28Joan cannot handle the thongs in the room.
20:32To me, a thong is not a fashion moment, okay?
20:36That is underwear.
20:37I don't know what that is.
20:39Vijay and his designers are trying
20:41to separate Antonio and I.
20:43Well, maybe you two do need to separate it.
20:44You're working on his garment right now.
20:46I'm going to separate you two,
20:48and then we'll see who wins.
20:50Bitch.
20:51Mm-mm.
20:52Ciao.
20:53See?
20:54Even Christian noticed it.
20:57What did he say?
20:58He didn't separate us.
20:59He's a little jealous.
21:01Oh, my God.
21:02All right, designers,
21:03we're sending your model to the Ulta Beauty Salon.
21:06The divas.
21:07I need to see what's going on in Glam.
21:09Okay, so this is...
21:10Let me see.
21:11Don't get crazy.
21:12I'm not...
21:12How are you feeling about it so far?
21:13You're the best, so I trust you.
21:15Oh, my God, no, please.
21:15We do this every day.
21:16You know, every Ulta Beauty has a salon
21:18that you can walk into
21:19and have a consultation with a hairstylist
21:21or a makeup artist
21:21to make your vision come to life.
21:23We do the same day out,
21:24so don't even worry.
21:25We're going to make it happen for you.
21:26Perfect.
21:26I love Ulta Beauty.
21:27You guys are the best.
21:30Yes.
21:31Oh, my God.
21:33It's done?
21:34No, it's not done yet.
21:35My hands are really, really tired.
21:38I will add more here.
21:40Are you?
21:40Yeah.
21:41I'm scared if I can really finish it on time.
21:44Yeah, you have like an hour.
21:45Mia, can you come here?
21:47God damn it.
21:48Are you finished?
21:49Yeah.
21:50Do you need help, Sama?
21:51Um, just stack this one.
21:53Okay.
21:53After that, I'm finished.
21:55Thank you so much.
21:57BJ, really?
21:58She gives me and my brother such a hard time
22:00because we help each other,
22:01but when she needs help, it's fine.
22:05Miss Madeline, how's your skirt?
22:06My goal was to get it done
22:08by the time the models got here.
22:09I am really far behind.
22:11Not you shuffling around.
22:12No.
22:13There's never enough time.
22:15At this point, like,
22:16I know I'm going to hate this look.
22:18What the hell?
22:19But I just need it to be clothes.
22:22All right, we're walking in 30 seconds, you guys.
22:25Hello, designers.
22:31Welcome to the runway.
22:33As I say in fashion,
22:34one day you're in,
22:35and the next day, you're out.
22:38For this challenge,
22:38you were asked to create a look
22:40inspired by your unconventional materials design,
22:43but made completely out of fabric.
22:45The connection between the two
22:46must be visual and meaningful.
22:48All right, let's meet the judges.
22:50CFDA award-winning stylist
22:52and image architect, Laura Roach.
22:57Editor of Elle magazine, Nina Garcia.
23:02And our guest judge for today,
23:04fashion designer and business titan,
23:07Jenna Lyons.
23:08All right, let's start the show.
23:20My looks looks very cohesive together.
23:22The bomber jacket looks so sexy,
23:24so hot, so modern,
23:27and the dress is cool.
23:29It's just so amazing.
23:30I feel so good.
23:32Super creative.
23:33Like a superhero.
23:35But this, it still looks unconventional to me.
23:37I'm so nervous,
23:45but at the same time,
23:46I'm very, very excited
23:47and proud of myself.
23:49It's a representation of who I am as a designer.
23:52You can tell immediately
23:53that these two looks are labor of love.
24:00It's like there's an actual inspiration here.
24:02I'm not proud of what I put down today.
24:14It's not my best work,
24:15and I'm feeling like
24:16I don't want to watch this runway.
24:26I feel good.
24:27It doesn't look absolutely haphazard and crazy.
24:30It looks presentable.
24:31How did you get it to fit her that well?
24:33I don't see my fingers bleeding.
24:36The construction isn't bad.
24:37The dress is just ugly.
24:39Turn it up, turn it up now.
24:41Turn it up, turn it up now.
24:43Ten is not enough.
24:45Take it to 11.
24:46This is exactly what my vision was.
24:49She is working it.
24:51She's feeling herself.
24:52She feels glamorous.
24:54She feels like a fashion icon.
24:55She feels like a rock star.
24:58Wow.
24:59It's interesting.
25:00Pretty.
25:01I'm so excited because I think I nailed the challenge.
25:04They both look cohesive.
25:08I don't think my unconventional garment was that bad,
25:12but definitely this is an elevated version of that.
25:16The previous critique lit a fire under my tail
25:20for me to show them what I got.
25:22And it's not enough.
25:25Wow.
25:25Take it up to 11.
25:27I'm sad for no less.
25:29Girl.
25:30Anastasia is making this a moment.
25:34The fashion fabric being so close to the original is cohesion.
25:39So I did my job.
25:41I'm proud of my little butterflies and they're flying so, so high.
25:46Wow.
25:47I'm seeing my blonde Barbie walk down the runway.
25:55It's so sexy.
25:56The magic word, again, is cohesion.
25:59She looks so good in there.
26:00I can taste the wind on the tip of my tongue that I've been waiting for.
26:13Hello.
26:15There were some really good looks you turned out.
26:18Obviously, we're judging you by your second look,
26:21not your unconventional materials look.
26:23We've scored your designs.
26:25Let's find out the results.
26:28Yujin.
26:30Joan.
26:32The two of you are safe.
26:36Joan, I know I was extremely critical on you
26:39about your unconventional look,
26:41but you redeemed yourself.
26:44Ethan.
26:46BJ.
26:48Hey, Seuss.
26:50You had our favorite looks on the runway today.
26:52Congratulations.
26:56Unfortunately, that means Antonio,
26:59Madeline, and Bologna.
27:02You had our least favorite looks today.
27:05You guys can leave with the safe designers.
27:09I'm not surprised,
27:10but I'm praying, wishing,
27:13manifesting that I don't go home.
27:15Hmm.
27:18Yeah.
27:20Guess who's back.
27:21I know, right?
27:22Back again.
27:24Let's bring out your models.
27:25Oh, my God.
27:28All right, Jesus,
27:29let's start with you.
27:30Okay.
27:30I loved your looks.
27:32Thank you so much.
27:33It's stunning.
27:34I mean, how you made this, too,
27:35that you can sew, like, this impeccably.
27:37It's, like, crazy, no?
27:38Yeah.
27:39It is so chic.
27:40I love the exaggerated hips
27:42and that red strip down the back.
27:45As a stylist,
27:45I'm thinking,
27:46what does it look 360,
27:47you know,
27:48when they're calling to the starlet,
27:49over the shoulder.
27:50This dress could be
27:52on any runway in Paris.
27:55Yeah.
27:55This is really, really,
27:56really, really well done.
27:58I'm always thinking,
27:59what would Law like?
28:00Law likes it,
28:01so you did a good job.
28:02Thank you so much.
28:03The dress is beautiful.
28:04The shape is beautiful.
28:06But when I saw the red stripe,
28:09I was convinced
28:10this was Ethan's look.
28:13I thought so, too.
28:14Ethan did that same stripe
28:16on the sportswear look.
28:19I mean,
28:20called Plagiarism.
28:21Yeah, it's a little.
28:23It's a little bit.
28:23Plagiarism.
28:24It's a little bit.
28:24I'm just saying.
28:26Oh, my God.
28:32Ethan did that same stripe.
28:36Wow, Nina.
28:37Just because there's a red stripe
28:39and Ethan did that for a feature,
28:41like, to me,
28:41like, I saw no resemblance.
28:43Like, I feel like I did it
28:44in a different way
28:45and, like,
28:46I didn't even think of that.
28:47I think they inspire
28:48each other a lot.
28:49I am all for inspiration,
28:51but why this particular fabric?
28:54I mean, that was never my intention.
28:55That didn't even cross my mind.
28:57I picked the red just to reference
28:59from the mini dress.
29:01Plagiarism is a little harsh,
29:03but for Nina to have such an impact
29:06from my piece,
29:08I think is an honor.
29:09So, sorry, Jesus,
29:11but if I own a red stripe now,
29:14maybe let me keep it.
29:16I don't have any history here,
29:18so I'm all for the red stripe.
29:19I loved it.
29:19The shape of the Duchess Satin
29:20and the way it wraps around her.
29:22Beautifully done.
29:23Thank you, Jesus.
29:26BJ,
29:26if you see what you can make
29:28out of a shuttlecock,
29:29it's quite amazing.
29:31Every time she says shuttlecock,
29:33I was watching that.
29:35Okay, everyone says shuttlecock.
29:36Shuttlecock.
29:37Shuttlecock.
29:39I love shuttlecock.
29:40We'll never forget that.
29:41We'll never forget it now.
29:42The fabric that you chose,
29:44it's the same feeling
29:45of what the shuttlecock is giving us
29:47and also what you gave here.
29:49Like, you always want to have
29:50a lot of interest, you know,
29:52around your cleavage and everything,
29:53and it's giving all of that.
29:55It's fragile, but strong,
29:58unexpected, really marvelous.
30:01The transparency, the tailoring,
30:04everything was really smart.
30:06Yes.
30:07I mean, it's the most perfect side boob
30:08I've ever seen.
30:09Jumpsuits are hard to fit.
30:11It's just, I think it's spot on.
30:13Thank you so much.
30:14Ethan, you're next.
30:15What did you stuff into the hips?
30:18What did you put in there?
30:19It's batting.
30:20Ethan is the drag queen,
30:21so he knows how to pad a hip.
30:23Oh.
30:23Right, so that,
30:24he brought that in his little toolbox,
30:27you know.
30:27Yeah.
30:28I think the dress is spectacular.
30:30I have to say,
30:31I'm kind of obsessed with it.
30:32I think the tailoring is great.
30:34I think you worked that dress
30:35like nobody's business.
30:36And the way that the shapes looked
30:38behind the screen when she came out,
30:39it was just phantasmical
30:41and really stunning.
30:42And I'm captivated by it.
30:44Can I see her without the...
30:47I mean, this is all you need.
30:51You didn't need the reveal.
30:53That's it.
30:54Can we just talk about the boobs
30:55when you see them on the side?
30:57I love it.
30:57I love those little cups
30:58that are poking out
30:59and giving that fabric.
31:00It's so cute.
31:01That little detail is so powerful.
31:04That's your reveal right there.
31:06You've got to understand to edit.
31:09All right, Ethan, BJ, Jesus.
31:13It's time to name the winner.
31:17Congratulations, BJ.
31:19Oh, my God.
31:22Good job, baby.
31:22You created our favorite look.
31:25Congrats.
31:26How does it feel?
31:27To be here and to...
31:29I'm speechless.
31:30I'm just happy.
31:31I cry when I'm happy.
31:33So, yeah, this is Tears of Joy.
31:36You earned it.
31:37You absolutely earned it.
31:38Really beautiful.
31:39Yeah.
31:39Winning this challenge
31:40makes me feel a reward
31:43for all the things that I've done
31:45to create those two looks.
31:47And I'm just really thankful
31:48that the judges appreciate my work.
31:50We have a winner.
31:51Winning this gives me the assurance
32:00that if I work hard
32:03and be innovative,
32:05then I can win this whole thing.
32:07Okay, let's bring out the bottom looks.
32:13Oy vey.
32:14Antonio, Madeline, Belania.
32:18Unfortunately, you were
32:19all these favorites today.
32:20Let's bring out your models.
32:23Oy, oy, oy.
32:26Oh, my God.
32:28All right, Belania,
32:29I'm just so confused
32:30by what you've done.
32:31I look at you,
32:32and I see a young,
32:33clued-in,
32:34fashion-forward,
32:35modern young woman.
32:37And then I see
32:38what you created today,
32:39and to me,
32:40this looks like
32:40a real old-fashioned look.
32:42You are supposed to create
32:44for tomorrow.
32:46The fabric looks cheap.
32:50Jersey fabric
32:51or something else
32:52in another color,
32:53this might be acceptable
32:54and it might be okay.
32:55But with these colors
32:56and this fabric,
32:58Acceptable is not winning anything
32:59around here, though.
33:00I've seen this dress,
33:02a corset with the ruffle bottom,
33:04and it's not my favorite.
33:06They're not twins,
33:06but they are sisters,
33:08Tacky and Jackie.
33:10And do you think
33:10this is a good dress?
33:11No, but today,
33:13my model called out sick,
33:14so I had to take in my dress
33:16by at least eight inches.
33:19That's not an excuse.
33:21Also, the model
33:22and you had to take it in,
33:23that's the strong part.
33:25That's what you did well.
33:26I don't love
33:26the really chunky straps.
33:27I know that the person
33:28who you had originally
33:29put it on might have been...
33:30Yeah, she was a size 20.
33:31I couldn't put certain styles
33:33on my model,
33:34so I said, okay,
33:34I will make a beautiful
33:36silhouette kind of dress.
33:37Had you presented that
33:38as a bathing suit
33:40and a sarong cover-up,
33:42I think it would have
33:42made more sense.
33:43Like, putting her in shorts
33:44or pants
33:45or even a bathing suit,
33:46you guys probably would have
33:47gave me the same comment.
33:48What I don't understand
33:50is the body language
33:51and the attitude.
33:52Yeah, what is the attitude?
33:53So let's talk...
33:54Let's back up
33:55and let's start there.
33:57Do you want to say something
33:58about your lips?
33:59You're trying to not...
34:00Well, here's your chance.
34:01I'm just taken aback
34:03because there's a lot
34:04that happens
34:04before you guys see it.
34:06But a lot happens
34:07before we see it
34:07every runway.
34:09What are these feelings?
34:10Because you're coming off
34:11really, really rude.
34:13Agreed.
34:14Okay.
34:15He wants to fight.
34:18You're coming off
34:20really, really rude
34:22and, like, dismissive.
34:24I'm trying to control
34:25my emotions
34:26because...
34:28I was trying to make
34:29my model feel comfortable
34:32and beautiful.
34:33And this model
34:34or the one that got sick?
34:35The one that got sick.
34:36Okay.
34:36I also think, like,
34:37you as a designer
34:38have to stay true to yourself.
34:40I don't really see you here.
34:41I think you should always
34:42stay true to yourself
34:43on what you think
34:44you would really want to create.
34:45I think that's really important.
34:48All right, Madeline.
34:49I don't see the cohesion.
34:51Here you have Space Girl
34:52in silver, shiny, flashy.
34:55And then you go
34:55to a somber, sad girl
34:57right next to her.
34:58It's like a whole different vibe
34:59I'm feeling from this.
35:01I actually like the way
35:03that you mimic
35:03the hard edges
35:04from your unconventional look.
35:07Just because you put
35:08some triangles
35:09onto the top
35:10doesn't make it cohesive for me.
35:12I really don't like
35:13the length of the skirt.
35:15The bottom of the skirt
35:16looks like a napkin.
35:17Like, it's not enough strength.
35:20When you are presenting
35:21a runway,
35:23it's about
35:23the complete polished look.
35:26I think you're demure
35:27in your approach
35:28to your shapes.
35:29Like, the skirt
35:29and the proportion
35:30of the top
35:31are almost the same.
35:32Can you raise the top?
35:34Yeah, like, if it was tiny
35:35and the sleeve was tiny
35:36and it was a little bit
35:37of a crop top.
35:38I just think, like,
35:39you could have gone bigger
35:40and pushed that skirt
35:41and pushed that shape.
35:42It feels like
35:42you're holding back.
35:43Fair enough.
35:44Antonio.
35:46I actually was probably
35:47the only one
35:48that gave this a high score.
35:51I am.
35:52They all hated it.
35:53Chattletail.
35:54That's true.
35:55That's very true.
35:57They look like
35:57modern girls of today.
35:59I love that it's sheer.
36:01I love that you see
36:01her G-string through it.
36:03I love her wet hair.
36:05It's very now.
36:06We can talk about the top.
36:08Obviously,
36:08there's some fit issues here,
36:10but...
36:10The top is...
36:11What is the top?
36:12It's a belt.
36:12The top is...
36:13I have a belt like that.
36:14It's terrible.
36:15I don't know
36:16if it was intentionally
36:16asymmetrical,
36:17but it wasn't asymmetrical enough,
36:18so I couldn't tell
36:19if it was just twisted.
36:20It should have been.
36:21It could have been.
36:22It's not.
36:24I mean, just the wedge,
36:25I can't go...
36:26I can't.
36:27It's problematic.
36:28I'm not mad at it.
36:29I'm not mad at the pants.
36:30I don't think the pants are bad.
36:31I'm just saying,
36:32when I see a wedge,
36:33my husband always loves a wedge.
36:35When I have jeans on
36:36that are, like, so tight
36:37that it's like...
36:38he thinks that's hot.
36:39It's like a really good
36:41stripper costume, though.
36:44There is no reason
36:46you walk this girl out of here
36:48with these incredible,
36:49glaring errors.
36:51I don't know.
36:52I don't know
36:52how you've made it this far.
36:54In terms of construction,
36:56there's a lot of problems here.
36:59I'm pissed.
37:00She got the nerve
37:01to say why I'm stealing
37:03the competition.
37:04I feel attacked.
37:06Well, you got the judges
37:07really torn.
37:08That was very polarizing,
37:10which is great.
37:11That's what national is about.
37:12Sorry.
37:13Madeline,
37:14Antonio,
37:15Balania,
37:16we have a lot to talk about.
37:18You can leave the runway.
37:19Thank you so much.
37:22Yeah.
37:22What did you hear?
37:23We haven't made the decision yet, right?
37:25No.
37:26Heidi loved my love.
37:28Nina hated it.
37:29She's like,
37:30I don't know how you've made it
37:31this far.
37:31I'm like, whoa.
37:33So, Madeline.
37:35To me,
37:36she's making sad clothes.
37:38You know what it is.
37:39It feels sad and poor.
37:41I don't see the cohesion.
37:43Like, the first one,
37:44when it came out,
37:45I was like, okay,
37:45it had some pop
37:46and, like,
37:47some fans of, like,
37:48sparkle to it.
37:49You also could feel
37:50that the model
37:51was loving that, too.
37:52It felt like somebody
37:52took the air out of it.
37:53Like, I'm not proud
37:55of what I put down today.
37:58I don't think
37:58it's representative
37:59of me as a designer.
38:01I don't want to be
38:01putting things out there
38:03that are confused
38:04and sad girl.
38:07I like Antonio.
38:08I feel like
38:08there's stuff in there.
38:09Nina hated it.
38:11I hate it.
38:12I've never seen
38:12her hate something so much.
38:14And look,
38:15I wrote, like,
38:16I wrote, like,
38:17my favorite.
38:17No, that was your favorite.
38:19Guys, Antonio
38:20is a little bit
38:21of smoke and mirrors.
38:22But he was the least
38:23offensive of the three.
38:25I don't know
38:25if Antonio
38:26can really deliver.
38:29I feel like
38:30my design
38:30wasn't the worst.
38:31Based on the challenge,
38:32when you put
38:33your heart and soul
38:34and you work
38:35for over 14 hours,
38:37I don't feel like
38:37the judges
38:38are understanding.
38:39And it's getting to me.
38:43What do you guys
38:43think about Blania?
38:44I was so sad
38:45to find out
38:46that that was her look.
38:47She has this
38:48great personal style.
38:50You think that's
38:50great personal style?
38:52You know,
38:53she's very memorable.
38:55I think Blania
38:55got thrown off
38:56trying to make
38:57someone else happy
38:58as opposed to
38:58doing her own thing.
38:59And it feels like
38:59that kind of
39:00tripped her up, maybe.
39:01I get a sense
39:01of personality
39:02from Blania.
39:03I think there's
39:04spark in there.
39:05She did have to,
39:06like, cinch that in
39:06a lot, Blania, no?
39:08That's what designers do.
39:10I know, but, like,
39:11last minute,
39:11already they have problems.
39:12That's what designers do.
39:13It was Carmen Miranda
39:15without fruit on her head.
39:16It is a literal prom dress.
39:18Yeah.
39:1880s prom dress.
39:19Bad 80s prom dress.
39:20Oh, Blania,
39:21why did you do this?
39:23I feel misunderstood
39:24because I tried
39:26to make something
39:27that I thought
39:28the judges wanted to see,
39:29but that was an epic fail.
39:32So if I stay
39:33in this competition,
39:34I am not listening
39:35to what anybody
39:37else has to say.
39:38I'm going to listen
39:39to myself.
39:41It's a toss.
39:41So who's the worst?
39:42It's a toss.
39:43Bye, bye, bye.
39:52Next time
39:53on Project Runway,
39:54for your next
39:54individual challenge,
39:56we're going straight.
39:57This is literally
39:58your challenge.
39:59Like, what are you doing?
40:00If I don't do this right,
40:01I will b****.
40:02Ethan,
40:03come on.
40:04Let's put it on the mannequin.
40:06Things are not working out
40:07as well as I thought
40:08they would.
40:09You get it together.
40:10Don't forget BJ's a silent killer, everyone.
40:13I've just focused on my work.
40:15The quiet ones turn around and stab you in the back.
40:19Jesus, he is really threatened by me.
40:22And I'm like, he should be.
40:24I want to applaud you for not doing something safe.
40:28Picture that girl walking down the street like stunt on hoes.
40:31You're not showing us anything new.
40:33It's too obvious.
40:34This is so far off from street wear.
40:36I almost want to like jump out the chair and beat you up for making this look.
