00:00Previously on Project Runway
00:02This is the unconventional materials challenge
00:07Hey, hey, hey, hey, what are you doing?
00:09A fight's breaking out. Fight!
00:11This is all mine.
00:12Jesus is a little bit bitchy.
00:15Joan, that glitter paper and popsicle dicks?
00:18Are you serious?
00:20I'm really far behind.
00:21There's just one small thing.
00:24The Runway show is happening in the workroom.
00:28This is the first ever in Project Runway history.
00:30What?
00:31This is creativity overload.
00:33Well, Yuchen, congratulations.
00:35You did a nice job.
00:36Now, what did not make the winning grade?
00:37Joseph.
00:38Ms. Jones.
00:39Antonio.
00:40The decision of which designer is going to be out
00:43will be made by all of you.
00:46A twist!
00:47No.
00:48I love everybody, but we have to make the decisions.
00:51Ms. Jones is the worst.
00:52I am not ready to go home.
00:54You have not seen what I can do as a designer.
00:57Joseph.
00:58That circle skirt's an insult.
01:00You look at Joseph McCray, you see Joseph McCray.
01:02Of course, I'm not going to take Antonio out.
01:04I'm not voting for Joseph. I'm just not.
01:06Splitting up the twins would be so gaggy.
01:09I think I know what to do.
01:13A stake for the winner is $200,000,
01:16a spread in Elle magazine,
01:18and a life-changing mentorship with the CFDA.
01:21This is Project Runway.
01:22This is Project Runway.
01:31Wow, wow, wow.
01:33Okay, guys, let's vote.
01:35I feel bad for them.
01:37I'd rather be here than making that decision.
01:39I'm so shocked that we need to vote out the designer for this challenge.
01:45This is the Project Runway first.
01:47It's really hard because it feels like you're crushing someone's dreams,
01:52and there's blood in your hands.
01:54But it's Project Runway.
01:57One day you're in, and the next day you're out.
02:00All right, designers.
02:01Can you guys gather in your votes and bring them over to me?
02:08I'm gonna miss you.
02:10Oh, man.
02:13This is everybody.
02:14I'm a little nervous that these designers are gonna vote me off
02:18just to separate my brother and I.
02:20We're powerful together, and they will send their biggest threat home.
02:23Joseph, Joan, Antonio.
02:26Two of you will be in, and one of you will be out.
02:31The first vote is for Joseph McRae.
02:37The second vote is for Miss Jo.
02:43I don't want to go home on a design that didn't speak to who I was as a designer.
02:48I hope the other designers keep me in the competition.
02:52The third vote is for Joseph McRae.
02:57Child, do not play.
03:00So that's two votes for Joseph.
03:02Another one, and you'll be out, okay?
03:05Oh, my God.
03:06I guess this is when the true competition shows,
03:08because do they feel like my look is the worst?
03:11Or is it because I could be the most threat in this competition?
03:15The fourth vote is for Antonio.
03:20My brother might be going home right now, and I'm freaking out.
03:24The next vote is for...
03:27Joseph McRae.
03:29Joseph McRae.
03:30Daddy.
03:31What is going on?
03:32No.
03:33I'm so sorry, Joseph.
03:34So that means you're out.
03:35I don't know if the vote was strategic, but if it was a game that they wanted to play, I guess the game has been played, so...
03:41It was such a pleasure working with you. I think you're incredibly talented. I know who you are. I can't wait to see more of your clothes.
03:46You will.
03:47I know. I'm really sad to have my best friend in the competition leave, and I wish that I had stood up a little bit more for Joseph. I don't know that I could have swayed four people.
03:55Bye everyone. No problem. No problem. I love you.
03:59But if it was a game that they wanted to play, but it was a game that they wanted to play, I guess the game that's been played, so...
04:02It was such a pleasure working with you. I think you're incredibly talented. I know who you are. I can't wait to see more of your clothes.
04:06You will. I know.
04:08I'm really sad to have my best friend in the competition leave, and I wish that I'd stood up a little bit more for Joseph. I don't know that I could have swayed four people.
04:16Bro, I love you too.
04:18As much as I didn't want to go home,
04:20listen, don't worry about me,
04:22because baby, I'm about to be famous.
04:24Ah!
04:26Still iconic, bitch.
04:27Don't forget.
04:28And that's a wrap.
04:29Later, love.
04:31Charlie!
04:32Oh!
04:33Bye.
04:34Say goodbye to law.
04:35Bye, love.
04:36Thank you, guys.
04:37Thanks for saving me.
04:39How are you guys feeling?
04:41That was definitely a curveball.
04:43And I think we're just, like, all full of emotions.
04:47Malin, you're very shaken up.
04:48I'm angry.
04:51Why?
04:52You have to make tough decisions in this business.
04:54No, I know.
04:55Not like that, though.
04:56I don't think you, I don't think it has to be that personal.
04:58Mm-hmm.
04:59It's hard, trust me.
05:00I've been there.
05:01I get it.
05:02But it's a competition, and only one of you wins.
05:05Yeah.
05:06Like, everyone's going home at some point.
05:08It's designed to survive.
05:11And we're going to go into your next challenge now.
05:17This competition is challenge, runway, one-day challenge,
05:23sewing, runway, club, challenge, no time, no sleep.
05:31Gogo would not be promised.
05:33Fashion takes inspiration from all kinds of things, art, music,
05:38even the unconventional.
05:40So for your next challenge, you'll be creating a runway-worthy
05:45version of your unconventional materials look,
05:50completely made out of fabric.
05:53Runway version.
05:55I know not to use denim.
05:56Wow.
05:58If I had the energy to scream, I'd probably
06:02be screaming quite a bit.
06:04I didn't love the look that I made.
06:06And it can't just be a story.
06:07Visual, meaningful, they have to connect,
06:11because both looks are going to walk down the runway together.
06:14Wow.
06:15It's loose.
06:16Oh, my god.
06:17Damn.
06:18Good to see you.
06:19Wow.
06:20Head home tonight to do some sketching, get some rest,
06:23and then I will meet you at Mood in the morning.
06:25Thank you, Chris.
06:26Good night.
06:27Thank you so much.
06:28Bye.
06:28Bye.
06:30For the next challenge, I'm really going to step my up,
06:33because I want to prove to the judges that I am an amazing
06:36designer and stylist.
06:37I think the only complaint in my life is a roach.
06:40So we've got to fix that.
06:41Let me get that cardio, get it on, never take a slap.
06:46Get it in the zone.
06:50Friction fans are amazing.
06:52Who would have thought that you can erase a fan?
06:54Guys, that was rough.
06:57Miss Joan, how do you feel?
06:58You're back for another week.
07:00Yeah, just need to process everything.
07:01Yeah, OK.
07:02Yeah.
07:03I'm going to put Joan on the runway.
07:05Oh, my god.
07:05This is a great opportunity to show your other side.
07:08I said, tailor.
07:09I've been tailoring for over 20 years.
07:12This is what I do.
07:13I can tailor a suit.
07:15So this is my opportunity to bring it.
07:18Look, that's sick.
07:19I don't even sketch.
07:21Usually, I would tell them what to sketch for me.
07:23I'm jealous of you guys for having brothers,
07:26because if I have my brother here.
07:27I think it's an advantage.
07:29No, it's a huge advantage.
07:30It's a huge advantage.
07:31Because they're going to, no matter what, help one another.
07:34The last challenge was the first individual challenge.
07:37But the twins are still working together.
07:41If that is what it takes to win for y'all, awesome.
07:44But I'm able to eat it up without having family in the room.
07:48Although, I have a question.
07:49Do you think both of you can do one challenge
07:52where you're completely separate?
07:55Because you're used to be working each other.
07:57So maybe for this challenge, just challenge yourself.
08:00Let's not help each other.
08:01And let's see what's going to happen.
08:03I think that BJ's smart, she knows how to play the game.
08:09What's going to be the outcome?
08:10Are you up for the challenge?
08:12As an individual designer, I know I can do it.
08:15I know I'm talented.
08:16I know I'm good.
08:17Let's shut this bitch up.
08:18Let's prove to them this challenge.
08:21I'm excited if they can actually do it.
08:24We will see.
08:25Done.
08:26So that's completely solo challenge.
08:29BJ, over my dead body that you think you're going
08:33to separate Antonio and I.
08:34So now, it's on.
08:45All right, remember this challenge.
08:47Runway-worthy version to kind of complement
08:51your unconventional look.
08:5230 minutes, $350.
08:54OK, go, right now.
08:56Ah!
09:02Just take a half yard off, and then I can get that.
09:05Keep looking, you just started.
09:06Put that backpack down and dig through these rolls.
09:09Oh, we need pins, bitch.
09:11The two boxes.
09:12Of course.
09:13The twins are shopping together.
09:16I am so shocked at the hopping to it.
09:20Going gray again.
09:22Boring.
09:23I'm capable of a lot more than what I put down the runway
09:26in the last challenge.
09:27However, to turn something that I hated into something
09:31that I like is going to take some real work.
09:35You don't want anything iridescent-y?
09:37I think that that's pretty iridescent,
09:39and I'm going to do stuff to it.
09:41My confidant, my best friend here,
09:43Joseph McRae, has left.
09:45So I'm definitely feeling that loss.
09:47And I need a solid amount of time to sit with what happened,
09:51but I don't have time to do that.
09:59Child, it smells like rotten in here.
10:00Oh, it's Miss Jones' dress.
10:02I don't want to see that.
10:05Last challenge, I was so far in the bottom
10:08that they had to dig me out the dirt.
10:10It looks like dead vegetation.
10:13Just throw her in a compost.
10:15I have to take inspiration from it.
10:18I'm going to try and redeem myself.
10:20So I'm going to have to show Laura who I am as a designer.
10:23Leave it all on the runway.
10:25I really don't want to look at this all day.
10:27I've shoved a bench in the corner.
10:30No one puts baby in a corner.
10:32However, I need her gone.
10:36One, two, three, four.
10:38Hello.
10:39Hi, Christian.
10:41Hmm.
10:42Oh, is that the crotch?
10:45It's a banana hammock.
10:46Oh.
10:48Wow.
10:49I want to create a cocoon outer shell gown
10:52that reveals into like a J-Lo butterfly sexy moment.
10:57Oh, my God, but you have so much to make.
11:00Just two pieces.
11:01OK.
11:01You can't have her whole butt out, though, like that.
11:04I want about this much crap.
11:08How are they going to connect visually in some way?
11:10I think because these are triangular,
11:12they're going to be covering the whole thing.
11:14So I'm like, uh, wait.
11:17Am I hurting your ears?
11:17Yes.
11:18All right, I'll stop.
11:19You can wait.
11:20I didn't love the look that I made last week.
11:22That's not me.
11:23So I'm making these hard kind of sharp edges
11:27into something more soft.
11:29She's going to be feathery.
11:30She's going to be bird-like.
11:32She's going to be awesome.
11:33What's happening over here?
11:35I want to keep the same silhouette where it's see-through
11:37and sexy.
11:38Mm-hmm.
11:38So I want to do a cigarette pant with a corset.
11:41Your corset top needs to be incredible.
11:43It's going to fit well.
11:44Make sure.
11:45I'm trying it right now.
11:46I'm pretty fast.
11:46OK.
11:47Last challenge, I almost got voted off,
11:49but I'm here for another week,
11:51and I'm going to set myself apart from the other designers
11:53and my brother.
11:54I want to stand out.
11:55I already do, because I'm gorgeous.
11:59Perfection.
12:00OK, I can figure this out.
12:02The look was very rock and cool, but you're
12:05doing like an evening gown.
12:07So it's like, how do you make that feel like edgy?
12:09I wanted to utilize the red instead
12:12of doing a front lapel to incorporate a back lapel.
12:15I mean, you have to have the red in some way
12:17to visually connect.
12:19So it's a gown, right?
12:21This is very street wear, very I'm
12:23going to a bashment party, you know?
12:26And this is very I'm stepping on the runway.
12:28I've never made a dress specifically like this before,
12:31but I want to showcase my skills as far as gown making
12:35goes for a curvier woman.
12:39It's a flag dress.
12:40When I think of soccer, I think of World Cup.
12:42All these countries, it's exciting.
12:45My idea is to make this black and white soccer ball bomber
12:48jacket with this big flag dress that celebrate
12:52the energy of a soccer stadium.
12:54Edit the colors like you edited those colors.
12:56Yeah.
12:57Remember, visually connect it.
12:58Yeah.
12:59Wow, that's pretty.
13:01For this one, I want the boning to be outside.
13:04Yeah.
13:05I really want to make another structure using the boning.
13:10It's a very meticulous process because boning
13:13is something that you need to hand sew, but I haven't worn yet.
13:17And I want the judges to see my impeccable craftsmanship
13:21in all the things that I do.
13:22This is my power, my hands.
13:24Wow, this is a beautifully cut suit.
13:27Yeah.
13:27Clearly, you can make clothes.
13:29So I get that you want to do this beautiful, amazing suit,
13:32but I think the connection will still be important, you know?
13:35And that's why I'm trying to still keep the connectivity
13:38with the corset tree.
13:40I was even thinking of taking the popsicle sticks.
13:43If you do that, I quit right now.
13:47Child!
13:50I just want them to see something here
13:52that they didn't see there.
13:54You know, Law really didn't like the stress.
13:56You got to prove them wrong.
13:57OK.
13:58Law have mercy.
14:00Everyone is a little worried about me, you know,
14:02but I got this.
14:03I'm a fighter.
14:05I've been through the hardest fight of my life.
14:09Back in 2020, I made it onto the cast of Project Runway
14:15for the first time.
14:16But I also found out that I had breast cancer
14:19and I needed to start treatment immediately.
14:23My biggest fear is during that time is,
14:26am I going to be strong enough to fight and beat this thing?
14:31But let me tell you, I rang that bell
14:34and Mama Joan is four years cancer free.
14:39This is more than just a competition for me.
14:41This is a full circle moment.
14:44To win Project Runway would be such a validation.
14:50I want to show that I can be an inspiration
14:52to so many women out there that there is life
14:56after, you know, being diagnosed.
15:07Oh.
15:09I'm like a walking zombie right now.
15:11I think the one-day challenges are definitely
15:23starting to take a toll because, like,
15:25there is no time to rest.
15:26Like, I'm not even, like, to be honest,
15:34like, even, like, inspired to do this.
15:38Seeing my brother going through all the emotions,
15:41that's not usually his persona.
15:43He's usually stronger than I am.
15:47I'm really concerned because I want him to still be
15:50in the competition.
15:50No.
15:53No, no, no.
15:56I don't even want to do it, to be honest.
15:59It's a lot.
16:01Should we go home?
16:02No.
16:03Come on.
16:04I'm really sorry that Jesus is struggling,
16:07but so am I.
16:08Like, I wish I have my best friend here
16:10so that I have someone that I can lean on to.
16:13But, you know, I have to deal it on my own.
16:15Someone needs to take that sense of comfort from them
16:18so that they can realize that this is a competition.
16:22I see everybody keeping an eye on us.
16:24All them bitches want to separate us.
16:26He's my twin brother, so if you with my brother,
16:28then you're going to have two enemies.
16:33You get a model.
16:35You get a model.
16:36Baby.
16:38Let's do it.
16:39I made it a little bit big.
16:41Is it asymmetrical, this top?
16:43Yeah.
16:44Well, it looks kind of a little bit like a mistake
16:46because it's, like, not enough.
16:48I think you still have to figure out this understructure.
16:50For me, I don't, it doesn't look like anything.
16:54You all right?
16:56You're just so tired.
16:57You're beat down.
16:59You're done.
16:59It's a lot.
17:00It's a lot.
17:01Suck it up.
17:02You've already been here before.
17:03Don't worry.
17:04You're fine.
17:05It looks fabulous.
17:06Get it together.
17:06Yeah.
17:07It's going to be cool.
17:09I like it with just one side.
17:10It's kind of fab.
17:12I'm really grateful to have Christian.
17:14I think he sees a vision.
17:15I think he likes my work.
17:17And that just really, truly gives me strength.
17:20I'm ready to show the judges exactly what I am made of.
17:26That red stripe on Jesus' gown is looking pretty familiar.
17:32What the ?
17:33Here we go.
17:34I've been working primarily on the outer part, so I have a lot of finessing to do.
17:39Are you realizing that this doesn't work?
17:41It needs a lot of zhuzhing.
17:43So what are you going to do?
17:44Okay.
17:45Let's try on the other dress.
17:46The dress underneath is not good.
17:49Do you think I should scrap the whole reveal?
17:51I think you have to scrap one of them.
17:52The whole reveal?
17:53Yes.
17:54That's what I'm saying.
17:55Then you still have one look.
17:56You got to try something.
17:58I think the shoulders could still be more.
18:00Yeah.
18:01This is the only one that I left, but I think I can elaborate it more.
18:04Hand sewing is a major component to execute that design, and I don't have a lot of time
18:10left, but I've applied to be in the show since 2012.
18:15I've waited for 13 years, and now that I'm here, I'm not going to waste any opportunity
18:21to show the judges what I can do.
18:23You just dislike it.
18:26This looks really messy.
18:28The frayed edges on this looks very amateur.
18:32Okay.
18:33I really don't want this amateur tag to be put on me.
18:37It's a fear of mine because I taught myself for the most part.
18:42So my construction skills are sometimes behind other people.
18:45I got to figure it out.
18:47Maybe the organza looks a little more refined and beautiful and soft, and maybe it's that
18:53all over in diamond shape.
18:55Yeah, that's helpful.
18:56I'm going for soft, feathery, maybe like a snowy egret, but I'm seeing a dirty, dirty
19:03little pigeon.
19:04That's it, designers.
19:06I'm, I'm in trouble.
19:07Say goodbye to your models.
19:08Oh, God.
19:15I haven't had to pivot this hard at all this competition.
19:19Two dresses is too much, so the JLo dress is dead.
19:24I'm going to take this cocoon and make an extensive alteration.
19:29Okay, guys, one hour.
19:31I want my brother here to help me.
19:38They're both really talented.
19:40So am I jealous?
19:41Yes.
19:41And like, I want that.
19:44I have to redo my sleeves because they're ugly.
19:50I have to make the entire skirt.
19:51I've been feeling like this is deeply, deeply undoable.
20:00Good morning, designers.
20:01We have a show to do.
20:03Fashion superheroes, here we come.
20:05They beat.
20:06Be aggressive.
20:07Be aggressive.
20:08Be aggressive.
20:09Be aggressive.
20:10Be aggressive.
20:11Be aggressive.
20:12Hey.
20:13Oh, that's cold.
20:14Nips out.
20:15Alania.
20:16Hello.
20:17Hi.
20:18God.
20:19Sorry, didn't mean to scare you.
20:20Yes.
20:21Emily's called in sick.
20:22So what we are thinking of doing is if we can move Sine over to this look and we'll
20:30use the alt model for your episode four looks.
20:33Ooh.
20:34She's a lot smaller.
20:35Oh, dear God.
20:37Oh, my brain is frying.
20:40I made my dress to fit my size 20 model like a glove.
20:45What are you saying to me right now?
20:47I have three hours to make this size 20 into a size 14, 12.
20:52I don't even know where to start right now.
20:54Model.
20:55Model.
20:56Model.
20:57Side boobie showing.
20:58Yes.
20:59We're going to cover her boobies.
21:00I had to find another way to use the black sheer.
21:03So I think having a little bit of sexy side boob moment and the scarf will be a little nod
21:09to the original piece.
21:10How are you guys doing?
21:11Good.
21:12How are you guys doing?
21:13Good.
21:14Kalania, how's it going?
21:15My hand stopped shaking.
21:16I can sew.
21:17You can do it.
21:18I don't know.
21:19It's beautiful.
21:20I'm gorgeous.
21:21Thank you for that advice.
21:22What would I do without you in my life?
21:25You're starting to make me have a crush on you.
21:27Everybody has a crush on me.
21:28Hello.
21:29What is that little song?
21:30What in the world?
21:31Marina, I made you a floss.
21:32I am a Latina hooker.
21:33A sexy hooshie mama.
21:34Not everyone can make a thong.
21:35I know it's just a little strange.
21:36But you got to get the right measurements.
21:37Because you don't want to see a camel toe with the floss.
21:38I don't know what that is.
21:39Joe cannot handle the thongs in the room.
21:40To me, a thong is not a fashion moment.
21:42Okay?
21:43That is underwear.
21:44DJ Dines Deze and designers are trying to separate Antonio and I.
21:46Well, maybe you two do need to separate.
21:47You're working on his garment right now.
21:48I'm gonna separate you two.
21:49And then we'll see who wins.
21:50Bitch.
21:51A bitch.
21:52Mm-mm.
21:53Child.
21:54Oh.
21:55Oh.
21:56I can.
21:57That is underwear.
22:00VJ and his designers are trying to separate Antonio and I.
22:04Well, maybe you two do need to separate it.
22:06You're working on his garment right now.
22:08I'm going to separate you two.
22:09And then we'll see who wins.
22:11Bitch.
22:12Mm-mm.
22:13Ciao.
22:15See?
22:16Even Christian noticed it.
22:18What did he say?
22:19He didn't separate us.
22:21He's a little jealous.
22:22Oh, my God.
22:23All right, designers, we're sending your model to the Ulta Beauty Salon.
22:27The divas.
22:28I need to see what's going on in Glam.
22:30Okay, so let me see.
22:32Don't get crazy.
22:33I'm not.
22:34How are you feeling about it so far?
22:35You're the best, so I trust you.
22:36Oh, my God. No, please.
22:37We do this every day.
22:38Every Ulta Beauty has a salon that you can walk into
22:40and have a consultation with a hairstylist or makeup artist
22:43to make your vision come to life.
22:44We do the same day out, so don't even worry.
22:46We're going to make it happen for you.
22:47Perfect.
22:48I love Ulta Beauty.
22:49You guys are the best.
22:50Oh, my God.
22:54It's done?
22:55No, it's not done yet.
22:56My hands are really, really tired.
22:59I will add more here.
23:01Are you?
23:02Yeah.
23:03I'm scared if I can really finish it on time.
23:05Yeah, you have like an hour.
23:06Mia, can you come here?
23:08God damn it.
23:09Are you finished?
23:10Yeah.
23:11Do you need help, Summer?
23:12Um, just stock this one.
23:14Okay.
23:15After that, I'm finished.
23:16Thank you so much.
23:17BJ, really?
23:19She gives me and my brother such a hard time
23:21because we help each other, but when she needs help,
23:24it's fine.
23:26Miss Madeline, how's your skirt?
23:28My goal was to get it done by the time the models got here.
23:30I am really far behind.
23:32Why don't you shuffle it around?
23:33No.
23:34There's never enough time.
23:36At this point, like, I know I'm going to hate this look.
23:39What the hell?
23:40But I just need it to be closed.
23:43All right, we're walking in 30 seconds, you guys.
23:50Yay.
23:51Hello, designers.
23:52Welcome to the runway.
23:54As I say in fashion, one day you're in,
23:56and the next day you're out.
23:58For this challenge, you were asked to create a look
24:01inspired by your unconventional materials design
24:04but made completely out of fabric.
24:06The connection between the two must be visual and meaningful.
24:09All right, let's meet the judges.
24:11CFDA award-winning stylist and image architect,
24:15Laura Roach.
24:19Editor of Elle Magazine, Nina Garcia.
24:21Nina.
24:23And our guest judge for today,
24:25fashion designer and business titan, Jenna Lyons.
24:32All right, let's start the show.
24:34My looks looks very cohesive together.
24:43The bomber jacket looks so sexy, so hot, so modern,
24:48and the dress is cool.
24:50It's just so amazing.
24:52I feel so good.
24:53Super creative.
24:54Like a superhero.
24:55But this, it still looks unconventional to me.
24:58I'm so nervous, but at the same time, I'm very, very excited
25:08and proud of myself.
25:10It's a representation of who I am as a designer.
25:13You can tell immediately that these two looks are labor of love.
25:17I'm not proud of what I put down today.
25:35It's not my best work and I'm feeling like I don't want to watch this runway.
25:40I feel good.
25:48It doesn't look absolutely haphazard and crazy.
25:51It looks presentable.
25:52How did you get it to fit her that well?
25:55You see my fingers bleeding.
25:57The construction isn't bad.
25:58The dress is just ugly.
25:59This is exactly what my vision was.
26:10She is working it.
26:12She's feeling herself.
26:13She feels glamorous.
26:15She feels like a fashion icon.
26:17She feels like a rock star.
26:19Wow.
26:20It's interesting.
26:21Katie.
26:22I'm so excited because I think I nailed the challenge.
26:25They both look cohesive.
26:27I don't think my unconventional garment was that bad,
26:33but definitely this is an elevated version of that.
26:37The previous critiques lit a fire under my tail
26:41for me to show them what I got.
26:43It's not enough.
26:45Wow.
26:51Pearl.
26:52Anastasia is making this a moment.
26:55The fashion fabric being so close to the original is cohesion.
27:00So I did my job.
27:02I'm proud of my little butterflies,
27:04and they're flying so, so high.
27:13Wow.
27:14I'm seeing my blonde Barbie walk down the runway.
27:16It's so sexy.
27:17The magic word again is cohesion.
27:20She looks so good in there.
27:22Hmm.
27:23I can taste the wind and the tip of my tongue
27:26that I've been waiting for.
27:35Hello.
27:36There were some really good looks you turned out.
27:39Obviously, we're judging you by your second look,
27:42not your unconventional materials look.
27:44We've scored your designs.
27:46Let's find out the results.
27:49Eugene.
27:51Joan.
27:53The two of you are safe.
27:56Joan.
27:57I know I was extremely critical on you about your unconventional look,
28:02but you redeemed yourself.
28:06Ethan.
28:07BJ.
28:09Jesus.
28:11You had our favorite looks on the runway today.
28:13Congratulations.
28:18Unfortunately, that means Antonio.
28:20Madeline.
28:21And Bolania.
28:23You had our least favorite looks today.
28:27You guys can leave with the safe designers.
28:30I'm not surprised, but I'm praying, wishing,
28:34manifesting that I don't go home.
28:40Yeah.
28:41Guess who's back?
28:43I know, right?
28:44Back again.
28:45Let's bring out your models.
28:47Good try.
28:49All right, Jesus.
28:51Let's start with you.
28:52Okay.
28:53I loved your look.
28:54Thank you so much.
28:55It's stunning.
28:56I mean, how you made this too,
28:57that you can sew like this impeccably,
28:58it's like crazy, you know?
29:00Yeah.
29:01It is so chic.
29:02I love the exaggerated hips and that red strip down the back.
29:06As a stylist, I'm thinking, what does it look 360?
29:09You know, when they're calling to the stylist over the shoulder.
29:12This dress could be on any runway in Paris.
29:16Yeah.
29:17This is really, really, really, really well done.
29:19Yeah.
29:20I'm always thinking about what Law like.
29:22Law likes it.
29:23So you did a good job.
29:24So much.
29:25The dress is beautiful.
29:26The dress is beautiful.
29:27The shape is beautiful.
29:28But when I saw the red stripe, I was convinced this was Ethan's look.
29:34Yeah.
29:35I thought so, too.
29:36Ethan did that same stripe on the sportswear look.
29:40I mean, called plagiarism in my book.
29:42Yeah, it's a little.
29:43It's a little bit.
29:44It's a little bit.
29:45It's a little bit.
29:46I'm just saying.
29:48Oh, my God.
29:49Ethan did that same stripe.
29:56Wow, Nina.
29:58Just because there's a red stripe and Ethan did that for a leecher, like, to me, like,
30:03I saw no resemblance.
30:04Like, I feel like I did it in a different way.
30:06And, like, I didn't even think of that.
30:08I think they inspire each other a lot.
30:10I am old for inspiration.
30:12But why this particular fabric?
30:15I mean, that was never my intention.
30:17That didn't even cross my mind.
30:18I picked the red just to reference from the mini dress.
30:21Plagiarism is a little harsh.
30:24But for Nina to have such an impact from my piece, I think, is an honor.
30:30So, sorry, Jesus, but if I own a red stripe now, maybe let me keep it.
30:37I don't have any history here, so I'm all for the red stripe.
30:40I loved it.
30:41The shape of the Duchess Satin and the way it wraps around her.
30:43Beautifully done.
30:44Thank you, Jesus.
30:47BJ?
30:48If you see what you can make out of a shuttlecock, it's quite amazing.
30:52Every time she says shuttlecock, I was watching that so bad.
30:56Okay, everyone says shuttlecock.
30:57Shuttlecock.
30:58Shuttlecock.
30:59Shuttlecock.
31:00I love string cock for you.
31:01We'll never forget that.
31:02We'll never forget it now.
31:03The fabric that you chose, it's the same feeling of what the shuttlecock is giving us.
31:09And also what you gave here.
31:10Like, you always want to have a lot of interest, you know, around your cleavage and everything.
31:15And it's giving all of that.
31:16It's fragile, but strong, unexpected, really marvelous.
31:22The transparency, the tailoring, everything was really smart.
31:27Yes.
31:28I mean, it's the most perfect side boob I've ever seen.
31:31Jumpsuits are hard to fit.
31:32It's just, I think it's spot on.
31:34Thank you so much.
31:35Ethan, you're next.
31:36What did you stuff into the hips?
31:39What did you put in there?
31:40It's batting.
31:41Ethan is the drag queen, so he knows how to pad a hip.
31:44Oh.
31:45Right, so that, that, he brought that in his little toolbox, you know.
31:48Yeah.
31:49Um, I think the dress is spectacular.
31:51I have to say, I'm kind of obsessed with it.
31:53I think the tailoring is great.
31:55I think you worked that dress like nobody's business.
31:57And the way that the shapes looked behind the screen when she came out, it was just
32:02phantasmical and really stunning, and I'm captivated by it.
32:05Can I see her without the...
32:08I mean, this is all you need.
32:12You didn't need the reveal.
32:14That's it.
32:15Can we just talk about the boobs when you see them on the side?
32:18I love it.
32:19I love those little cups that are poking out and giving that fabric.
32:21It's so cute.
32:22That little detail is so powerful.
32:25That's your reveal right there.
32:27You've got to understand to edit.
32:30All right, Ethan, BJ, Jesus, it's time to name the winner.
32:39Congratulations, BJ.
32:41Oh my God.
32:43Great job, baby.
32:44You created our favorite look.
32:46Congrats.
32:47How does it feel?
32:48To be here and to...
32:50I'm speechless.
32:51I'm just happy.
32:52I cry when I'm happy.
32:53Yeah, this is tears of joy.
32:57You earned it.
32:58You absolutely earned it.
32:59Really beautiful.
33:00Yeah.
33:01Winning this challenge makes me feel a reward for all the things that I've done to create those
33:07two looks and I'm just really thankful that the judges appreciate my work.
33:12We have a winner.
33:13Yay!
33:14Yay!
33:15Yay!
33:16I know it!
33:17I know it!
33:18I know it!
33:19Winning this gives me the assurance that if I work hard and be innovative, then I can win this whole thing.
33:28Okay, let's bring out the bottom looks.
33:34Oy vey.
33:35Antonio, Madeline, Belania.
33:38Unfortunately, you were all these favorites today.
33:41Let's bring out your models.
33:43Oy, oy, oy.
33:45Oh my God.
33:48All right, Belania.
33:50I'm just so confused by what you've done.
33:52I look at you and I see a young, clued in, fashion forward, modern young woman.
33:58And then I see what you created today.
34:00And to me, this looks like a real old fashioned look.
34:03You are supposed to create for tomorrow.
34:06The fabric looks cheap.
34:10Jersey fabric or something else in another color.
34:13This might be acceptable and it might be okay.
34:16But with these colors and this fabric, there's...
34:18Acceptable is not winning anything around here, though.
34:20Exactly.
34:21I've seen this dress, a corset with the ruffle bottom.
34:25And it's not my favorite.
34:27They're not twins, but they are sisters.
34:29Tacky and Jackie.
34:30And do you think this is a good dress?
34:32No.
34:33But today, my model called out sick.
34:35So I had to take in my dress by at least eight inches.
34:39That's not an excuse.
34:41Also, the model and you had to take it in.
34:44That's the strong part.
34:45That's what you did well.
34:46I don't love the really chunky straps.
34:48I know that the person who you had originally put it on might have...
34:51Yes, she was a size 20.
34:52I couldn't put certain styles on my model.
34:54So I said, okay, I will make a beautiful silhouette kind of dress.
34:58Had you presented that as a bathing suit and a sarong cover-up,
35:02I think it would have made more sense.
35:04Like putting her in shorts or pants or even a bathing suit.
35:07You guys probably would have gave me the same comment.
35:10What I don't understand is the body language and the attitude.
35:13Yeah, what is the attitude?
35:14So let's talk.
35:15Let's back up and let's start there.
35:17Do you want to say something about your lips?
35:20You're trying to not...
35:21Well, here's your chance.
35:22I'm just taking back because there's a lot that happens before you guys see it.
35:27But a lot happens before we see it every runway.
35:30What are these feelings?
35:31Because you're coming off really, really rude.
35:34Agreed.
35:35Okay.
35:36He wants to fight.
35:41You're coming off really, really rude and like dismissive.
35:44I'm trying to control my emotions because I was trying to make my model feel comfortable and beautiful.
35:54And this is this model or the one that got sick?
35:56The one that got sick.
35:57Okay.
35:58I also think like you as a designer have to stay true to yourself.
36:01I don't really see you here.
36:02I think you should always stay true to yourself on what you think you would really want to create.
36:07I think that's really important.
36:09All right, Madeline, I don't see the cohesion.
36:12Here you have Space Girl in silver, shiny, flashy.
36:16And then you go to a somber, sad girl right next to her.
36:19It's like a whole different vibe I'm feeling from this.
36:22I actually like the way that you mimic the hard edges from your unconventional look.
36:28Just because you put some triangles onto the top doesn't make it cohesive for me.
36:33I really don't like the length of the skirt.
36:36The bottom of the skirt looks like a napkin.
36:39Like it's not enough strength.
36:41When you are presenting a runway, it's about the complete polished look.
36:47I think you're demure in your approach to your shapes.
36:50Like the skirt and the proportion of the top are almost the same.
36:53Can you raise the top?
36:55Yeah, like if it was tiny and the sleeve was tiny and it was a little bit of a crop top.
36:59I just think like you could have gone bigger and pushed that skirt and pushed that shape.
37:03It feels like you're holding back.
37:04Fair enough.
37:05Antonio.
37:06Antonio.
37:07I actually was probably the only one that gave this a high score.
37:12I am.
37:13They only hated it.
37:14That is true.
37:15That's true.
37:16That's true.
37:17That's very true.
37:18They look like modern girls of today.
37:21I love that it's sheer.
37:22I love that you see her g-string through it.
37:24I love her wet hair.
37:26It's very now.
37:27We can talk about the top.
37:29Obviously, there's some fit issues here, but...
37:31The top is...
37:32What is the top?
37:33It's a belt.
37:34The top is...
37:35I have a belt like that.
37:36It's terrible.
37:37I don't know if it was intentionally asymmetrical, but it wasn't asymmetrical enough.
37:40So I couldn't tell if it was just twisted.
37:41It should have.
37:42It could have been.
37:43It's not.
37:44I mean, just the wedge.
37:46I can't go...
37:47I can't.
37:48It's problematic.
37:49I'm not mad at it.
37:50I'm not mad at the pants.
37:51I don't think the pants are bad.
37:52I'm just saying when I see a wedge, my husband always loves a wedge.
37:56When I have jeans on that are like so tight that it's like...
37:59He thinks that's hot.
38:00It's like a really good stripper costume doll.
38:05There is no reason you walk this girl out of here with these incredible glaring errors.
38:12I don't know.
38:13I don't know how you've made it this far.
38:15In terms of construction, there's a lot of problems here.
38:20I'm pissed.
38:21She got the nerve to say why I'm still in the competition.
38:25I feel attacked.
38:27Well, you got the judges really torn.
38:29That was very polarizing, which is great.
38:32That's what fashion is about.
38:33I'm sorry.
38:34Madeline, Antonio, Balania, we have a lot to talk about.
38:38You can leave the runway.
38:40Thank you so much.
38:41Yeah.
38:42What did you hear?
38:44We haven't made the decision yet, right?
38:46No.
38:47Heidi loved my love.
38:49Nina hated it.
38:50She's like, I don't know how you've made it this far.
38:52I'm like, whoa.
38:53So, Madeline.
38:56To me, she's making sad clothes.
38:59You know what it is.
39:00It feels sad and poor.
39:02I don't see the cohesion.
39:04Like the first one, when it came out, I was like, okay.
39:07It had some pop and like some bands of like sparkle to it.
39:10You also could feel that the model was loving that too.
39:13It felt like somebody took the air out of it.
39:15Like, I'm not proud of what I put down today.
39:19I don't think it's representative of me as a designer.
39:22I don't want to be putting things out there that are confused and sad girl.
39:28I like Antonio.
39:29I feel like there's stuff in there.
39:30Nina hate it.
39:32I hate it.
39:33I've never saw her hate something so much.
39:35And look, I wrote like my favorite.
39:38No, that was your favorite.
39:40Guys, Antonio is a little bit of smoke and mirrors.
39:44But he was the least offensive of the three.
39:46I don't know if Antonio can really deliver.
39:49I feel like my design wasn't the worst.
39:52Based on the challenge, when you put your heart and soul and you work for over 14 hours,
39:58I don't feel like the judges are understanding and it's getting to me.
40:04What do you guys think about Belania?
40:05I was so sad to find out that that was her look.
40:08She has this great personal style.
40:11You think that's great personal style?
40:13You know, she's very memorable.
40:16I think Belania got thrown off trying to make someone else happy as opposed to doing her own thing.
40:20And it feels like that kind of tripped her up maybe.
40:22I get a sense of personality from Belania.
40:24I think there's spark in there.
40:26She did have to like cinch that in a lot, Belania, no?
40:29That's what designers do.
40:31I know.
40:32But like last minute, already they have a problem.
40:34That's what designers do.
40:35It was Carmen Miranda without fruit on her head.
40:38It is a literal prom dress.
40:39Yeah.
40:4080s prom dress.
40:41Bad 80s prom dress.
40:42Oh, Belania, why did you do this?
40:44I feel misunderstood because I tried to make something that I thought the judges wanted to see.
40:51But that was an epic fail.
40:53So if I stay in this competition, I am not listening to what anybody else has to say.
40:59I'm going to listen to myself.
41:02It's a toss.
41:03So who's the worst?
41:04It's a toss.
41:12Aye, aye, aye.
41:13Next time on Project Runway, for your next individual challenge, we're going straight.
41:18This is literally your challenge.
41:20Like, what are you doing?
41:21If I don't do this right, I will .
41:23Ethan.
41:24Come on.
41:25Let's put it on the main key.
41:26Things are not working out as well as I thought they would.
41:30You have to get it together.
41:31Don't forget BJ's a silent killer, everyone.
41:34I've just focused on my work.
41:36The quiet ones turn around and stab you in the back.
41:40Jesus, he is really threatened by me.
41:43And I'm like, he should be.
41:45I want to applaud you for not doing something safe.
41:49Picture that girl walking down the street like stunt on hoes.
41:52You're not showing us anything new.
41:54It's too obvious.
41:55This is so far off from streetwear.
