00:00The second day of the General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly 80's session ends,
00:15where international cooperation for peace, development and human rights were the main topics.
00:20In Venezuela, the National Council for Sovereignty and Peace, Miranda Chapter,
00:28was installed as part of the efforts of the Venezuelan stage to strengthen the security and integral defense of the country.
00:38In Mexico, President Clyde Sheinbaum condemned Wednesday the criminalization carried out by the United States authorities against Mexican nationals in that country.
00:52Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Sophie Fernandez from the Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:57We begin with the news. Stay with us.
01:14The second day of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly ended this Wednesday,
01:19as world leaders focused their species on peace efforts, development and human rights.
01:25Among the core themes of the species were threats to international peace and the need for cooperation in order to achieve the sustainable development goals.
01:34For this, each representative presented their perspective on global challenges, particularly the need for international cooperation to uphold the principles of the UN Charter.
01:43In this framework, Anna Head of the COP3 Climate Summit was held to propose ideas to drive actions in critical areas of climate issues.
01:50In this context, the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Massoud Pesheshkyan condemned the Israeli aggressions against the Middle Eastern countries, denouncing the attacks on Iranian territories and the ceasefire negotiation committee in Qatar.
02:11Israel assaults of the Zionist regime and the United States of America against Iran's cities, homes and infrastructures, precisely at a time when we were treading the path of diplomatic negotiations constituted a grave betrayal of diplomacy and a subversion of efforts towards the establishment of stability and peace.
02:33Finally, Iran condemns the criminal aggression of the Israeli regime against Qatar, which resulted in the martyrdom of a number of Palestinian and Qatari nationals and declares its support and solidarity with the government and people of Qatar.
02:46Ladies and gentlemen, true security is not achieved through force, but through confidence building, mutual respect, regional convergence and multilateralism grounded in international laws.
02:56Moreover, the Iranian head of state could defend his country's right to nuclear development for peaceful purposes, stressing the nation does not seek to build nuclear weapons.
03:07This is assembly that Iran has never sought and will never seek to build a nuclear bomb.
03:15We do not seek nuclear weapons.
03:18We do not seek nuclear weapons.
03:20This is our belief based on the edict issued by the Supreme Leader and by religious authorities.
03:27Therefore, we would never sought weapons of mass destruction, nor will we ever seek them.
03:33Whereas those who disturb the peace and stability in the region are lies in Israel.
03:42But Iran is the one that is being punished for those actions.
03:47In this framework, the President of Kenya, William Ruto, demanded more equity and representation for African nations in the United Nations.
03:55For decades, Africa has spoken in one voice, demanding justice, equity and representation in the highest organ of global governance.
04:04This demand, however, continues to be ignored, deferred or endlessly debated to the detriment of both Africa and the legitimacy of the United Nations itself.
04:17You cannot claim to be the United Nations while disregarding the voice of 54 nations.
04:26It is not possible.
04:27Africa is no longer willing to wait on the margins of global governance while decisions about peace, security and development are made without our understanding, without our perspectives and without our voice.
04:45Meanwhile, Namibian President Netumbo Nandi Daitua demanded Wednesday at the United Nations General Assembly that unilateral coercive measures should not be used to undermine sovereign states,
04:57and called to put an end to the U.S. blockade on Cuba.
05:00Unilateral coercive measures should not be used as a tool to undermine sovereign states,
05:09for this violates the charter and the principles of the United Nations.
05:18In this regard, we call for an end to the continued illegal economic, financial and commercial embargo imposed on the friendly people of Cuba,
05:32and removing her from the least state sponsoring terrorism.
05:38And speaking from the Consulate of Venezuela in New York,
05:44Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Ivan Hill,
05:47denounced the false narrative that uses the fight against drug trafficking
05:50as a justification for the U.S. military deployment in the Caribbean.
05:54The Minister highlights the U.N. General Assembly has demonstrated the solidarity of the world
05:59with Venezuela's right to peace and sovereignty.
06:03There is a message to the international community
06:06that this madness must be stopped, the threats must be stopped, the use of force or the threat of force against a free and sovereign country must be stopped.
06:14And I think that is very clear and already well accepted by the international community that this cannot happen.
06:20CELAC itself condemned it at Monday's CELAC meeting, where all countries unanimously declared the protection of the Latin American peace zone.
06:28In addition, Ivan Hill denounced the economic blockade against Cuba and Venezuela's support for the end of this unjust policy.
06:36The struggle of the Cuban people is the struggle of the Venezuelan people.
06:40The aggression against Venezuela is precisely an aggression against the Cuban people and the revolutionary government of Cuba.
06:46All the peoples of the world have asked almost unanimously, we could say unanimously, for an immediate end to the blockade,
06:52an end to the policy of harassment, and for Cuba to be removed from the spurious list of states that allegedly sponsor terrorism.
06:59Venezuela has a very clear position in defense of international law, in defense of legality, in defense of the Cuban people and in defense of their revolution.
07:08Throughout the exclusive interview for the telescope news platform, Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves,
07:17emphasized the serious consequences that climate change could have in the region.
07:22And as it is 24 years plus, we have had 12 major weather-related events.
07:29We have had a series of volcanic eruptions in April 2021.
07:35The last major hurricane was on last year, July the 1st, which caused loss of life and damage and loss,
07:48amounting the damage and loss, amounting to one-third of our GDP of our gross domestic product.
07:56Now that's one big blow.
07:58You had nearly 20% of the housing stock, either completely destroyed or severely damaged.
08:05Now, that's big.
08:08I mean, that's huge in any country.
08:11And we have to be rebuilding stronger and better.
08:14The problems of sea defenses and river defenses, and so on and so forth.
08:19Moreover, Ralph Gonsalves sent a message to the United Nations Organization, highlighting the need for international cooperation.
08:26Volcanic series between and froeing.
08:34There has to be a clear recognition that the major challenges in the world cannot be dealt with unilaterally.
08:43We have to deal with them together.
08:46Together.
08:47Together.
08:48And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok at Telesur English,
08:55where you will find news in different formats, news updates and more.
08:59Stay with us.
09:00Welcome back to From the South.
09:15In Venezuela, the National Council for Severity and Peace, Miranda Chapter, was installed as part of the efforts of the Venezuelan state to strengthen the security and integral defense of the country.
09:26From the Chacao Cultural Center, the Secretary of the National Council for Sovereignty and Peace, Jorge Rodriguez, detailed that the installation of the Council for Sovereignty and Peace is being carried out in the 24 states of the country,
09:41with the objective of consolidating a plural and representative instance that includes all sectors of the Venezuelan society.

10:00In turn, Rodriguez condemned the false narrative imposed by the United States against Venezuela, which responds to Washington's interest to seize Venezuela's wealth.
10:10From the United States against Venezuela, that is, the truth is, the truth is that the epidemic epidemic of drugs that is in the United States and America is more related to the excess consumption of opiaces, called fentanyl.

11:25and the tax havens in
11:27Europe, and the Middle East
11:29and America. That is the truth.
11:31The truth is that the drug
11:33epidemic in the United States
11:35of America is an epidemic
11:37more related to the excessive
11:39consumption of opiates,
11:41the so-called fentanyl.

14:23and said Argentine families are deeply in debt,

14:59but also refuses to acknowledge
15:01that he has caused the greatest disaster
15:03in the daily lives of millions of Argentinians.

15:43of the public prosecutor's office.
15:45They denounce this as an act of manipulation
15:47by the executive branch.
15:49They also denounce the use of disproportional force
15:52by the country's police forces

16:20Welcome back to From the South.
16:34As we move to Mexico, where President Clyde Shane Bone
16:37condemned Wednesday the criminalization carried out
16:39by the United States authorities
16:41against Mexican nationals in that country.
16:43During her daily press conference, Shane Bone rejected the new
16:48anti-migration raids conducted by U.S. authorities
16:51and highlighted that Mexicans migrants contributed
16:54to the economic development of the northern neighbor.
16:57The Mexican president also stressed that her government
17:00has reinforced its consular mechanisms to provide support
17:04to all Mexicans, receiving orders of deportation.
17:08She also warned that Washington's anti-migration policies
17:13are also affecting U.S. companies,
17:15since an increasing number of migrant employees refuse to go to work
17:19out of fear of being detained.
17:21We have said several times that we don't agree with criminalizing migrants,
17:34especially not those who go to the United States
17:37looking for a better life to help their families.
17:40We have showed here several times how Mexicans who live in the United States,
17:49whether they are from a first, second, third, or fourth generation,
17:56contribute in a very important way to the economy of the United States
18:02and still continue to support their families and contribute with the economy of Mexico
18:08through the remittances they send.
18:12We do not agree with this form of treatment nor with the raids that have been carried out,
18:19which also, in effect, cause fear and anxiety in the Mexicans who live there.
18:25What have we done as a result of this?
18:27We have communicated by means of diplomatic notes.
18:38We have expressed our views when U.S. government officials have come to Mexico
18:43to meet our foreign ministry or other public officials.
18:48The Mexican president also called the actions of U.S. authorities against migrants an injustice
18:58and affirmed that her government will always stand with them.
19:03It's an injustice, and of course it hurts.
19:10That's why we always stand with our compatriots there.
19:13That's why there is also a recognition on our part about what they do,
19:17because when there is discrimination there has to be also a recognition of what they do,
19:22and there's no reason for discrimination.
19:25On the contrary Mexicans are heroes because they leave their communities behind.
19:30They put everything at risk to go there to work, to help their families and support the economy of the United States.
19:37So they have our support and our solidarity, and they have to know that we embrace them,
19:42and will do everything we have to do, both from the presidency and myself.
19:47Personally, if they want to return to Mexico, there is a special program called Mexico Embraces You,
19:54where they are provided with immediate support, access to housing, access to welfare programs, employment,
20:01and so that they can return to their homes the best way possible.
20:06In the Brazilian city of Recife, a group of young musicians are packing their bags to travel around the world for a concert promoting world peace.
20:32Our correspondent Brea Mir has more details.
20:39In Koki, a poor community in Recife, 13 young classical musicians are preparing for a trip of a lifetime.
20:46They will fly to Seoul, Korea, where they'll be joined by two young musicians each from North Korea, South Korea, Russia, Ukraine, Israel and Iran.
20:55After four days of rehearsals, they'll travel to Hiroshima, where they will perform an outdoor concert on Ground Zero,
21:02during an event remembering the 80th anniversary of the US dropping of the atomic bomb.
21:07We're having our last rehearsal here in Brazil today. Then we will go into the final stretch before our trip.
21:16We're flying out tomorrow, so it's our last day to make the adjustments to our suitcases to make sure everything is in the right place.
21:22After playing in Seoul and Hiroshima, the youth will perform shows in Osaka, Japan and the Vatican.
21:32The goal of the initiative is to promote reflection on world peace.
21:37Music is a language that doesn't have borders. It doesn't have a language barrier.
21:42So I think that interacting with musicians from other countries is very important because we will all be speaking the same language.
21:49We are playing a peace concert together and I think that peace can only come when people understand each other.
21:56The musicians are members of Crianza Cidadan, an orchestra which was founded in 2006 to teach young people from one of Recife's most impoverished favelas
22:11to learn how to read, write and play classical music.
22:14Since its founding, many of its members have gone on to play in other orchestras and work as music teachers.
22:20We have high expectations for this trip.
22:24We know we have the big responsibility of representing our state and promoting peace.
22:30Especially by stimulating people to reflect on the concept of peace.
22:34I think this is important.
22:40Brian Mir, Telesur, Recife.
22:47In China, the Beijing 2025 Cultural Forum began,
22:50bringing together over 800 participants from 58 countries to discuss the integration of culture with science and technology.
22:58On the opening day, the presentations by the director of UNESCO World Heritage and French filmmaker Jean-Jacques Anode stood out.
23:06At the forum, attendees agreed that current technological transformation is driving significant changes in cultural production and dissemination.
23:14The Vice President of the Chinese Federation of Literacy and Artistic Circles highlighted the potential for integrated development between culture and technology.
23:24During the meeting, a call was made to create more online platforms to promote intercultural exchange.
23:31the

24:11But before we say goodbye, we'll share a video on how Venezuela demands peace, especially
24:15for the well-being of future generations.
24:18For Telesour English, I'm Sophie Fernandez, thank you for watching.
24:26This baby, we don't know if he'll become a big league player, a doctor or a teacher,
24:39or if his heart will cheer for Caracas or Magallanes, the legendary baseball rivals of Venezuela.
24:45What we do know is that he will grow up surrounded by love, because in his veins runs the blood
24:51of Bolívar, the same that once dreamed of a free America.
24:56And like every Venezuelan, he deserves to grow up in peace.
25:01Peace is our greatest victory, and our eternal commitment.
25:07Save the peace.
25:12Let's defend our homeland with love.
25:26For the future event.
25:28We are so good.
25:30For how we kill our family people, believe we.
25:34We don't even know about this record in the past nine years.
25:37We do too, ladies.
25:38Hope we let haveasha switch We can point along in life.
25:41Because otherwise, we are so important, it will be ready for whatever part.
25:42And we'll join us on social media and our 것을 to support them, and we're willing to
25:48contest trust ourselves.
25:49We take care.
