00:00Hello, it's Martin Dempster, the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here, coming to you from Bethpage State Park in New York, a venue for this week's 35th edition of the Ryder Cup.
00:15We've just had the opening ceremony here, that normally held on Thursday, Ryder Cup week, but due to a bad weather forecast for Thursday, it was moved forward by 24 hours, although the parents were not announced, they'll be announced as scheduled on Thursday afternoon.
00:40Quite an interesting opening ceremony, US captain Keegan Bradley, he dropped a clanger, recalling the 1999 match at Brooklyn, he attended that as a 13 year old with his dad and spoke about how that sparked his love affair for the Ryder Cup, however, and recalling the putt on the 17th hole by Justin Leonard that helped the Americans
01:10turned that one around on the last day, captained by Ben Crenshaw, he actually mentioned Justin Rose being the player who held that putt, which of course wasn't the case.
01:22Luke Donald, meanwhile, he aimed a dig at the Americans who are being paid $500,000 each this week, $300,000 of that is going to charity,
01:34and probably all the players will be donating the full $500,000 to charity, however, the Europeans, in contrast, don't need to be paid to play in this event,
01:46and he made a couple of references to prize money in his speech, and there was no doubt who he was aiming at that comment at.
01:57Bob McIntyre, in Europe's practice round today, they played nine holes in the back nine, he was out with Rory McIlroy, Math Fitzpatrick and Victor Hovland.
02:08It was the second day in a row that he was in the same group as Victor Hovland, and that maybe points to a Scottish-Norwegian combination in Friday's opening foursome session,
02:22with the possibility that McIntyre might even play with McIlroy over the course of the three days.
02:27Bob McIntyre's press conference was due to be held today, however, everything was rescheduled, and he's in tomorrow morning at 8.15 local time.
