00:00We want to, again, bring you some other stories that we are following here for you this evening,
00:06including the new news that ABC says they are putting a Jimmy Kimmel back on the air starting tomorrow.
00:14And that comes just hours after there was massive protests happening in Los Angeles.
00:21I want to go out right now there to Fox 11 LA's Christina Gonzalez with a breakdown of what was happening today
00:29leading up to this decision.
00:33Yeah, you know, keep in mind Disney had said and is saying that even though the comments that Kimmel made
00:40were quote insensitive and ill-advised, after long thoughtful conversations is how they're describing it,
00:47they've decided to reinstate the show.
00:50And already, let me show you tickets available online for tomorrow night's show and the next day and one after that.
00:57And people here who have been camping out for and support of Kimmel say they are very happy.
01:04Check it out.
01:06Jimmy Kimmel's coming back tomorrow!
01:10Word getting out outside Hollywood's El Capitan Theater, ABC has reinstated Jimmy Kimmel Live.
01:17I'm just so...
01:18I'm excited that people are still exercising their rights.
01:23It makes it worse.
01:23You're about to cry.
01:27It's that emotional for you.
01:29I'm so damn proud of LA.
01:30This group was part of a much larger pro-Kimmel rally earlier.
01:34The reason that this should concern all Americans is that this administration's actions could threaten speech
01:40from both conservatives and liberals.
01:42A who's who of state and local politicians joined by several unions in support of Kimmel,
01:49even as counter-protesters tried to interrupt.
01:52Even now, there are people who want to drown out our voices.
01:55LAPD stepping in to stop skirmishes between supporters and critics.
01:59Tourists taking it all in.
02:01Are they talking about this in Germany?
02:03Do they know about this?
02:04I saw it on TikTok about in Germany.
02:07Presidents know how this goes.
02:08She's one of the first female late-night comedy writers.
02:11When I was working on The Tonight Show and on Letterman, we were doing jokes about Clinton
02:18and Bush all the time.
02:20But these guys are big boys and they know how to take it.
02:23And that was another era.
02:24So here we are.
02:26Jimmy is coming back tomorrow!
02:30I am so just ecstatic for Jimmy, his crew.
02:36They're excited but cautious.
02:38I don't want us to lose momentum because this isn't the end.
02:45And keep in mind that while some people are very excited, you mentioned that Sinclair is
02:50saying that they're going to put alternative programming because, in essence, they do not
02:56like what Kimmel said.
02:57They do want an apology from him, is what I understand, and a large amount of money into
03:02the Charlie Kirk Memorial Fund.
03:04And keep in mind also that there's some big Disney stars that are also calling for a boycott
03:08of Disney because they support Kirk.
03:10Marissa Tomei is one of them, a producer of Lost.
03:13That was a huge ABC show.
03:15So this is still an ongoing situation.
03:18But I can tell you that tickets are available for tomorrow night.
03:21I'm Christina Gonzalez in Hollywood.
03:22Back to you guys in the studio.
03:24Christina, thanks so much.
03:25Yeah, and so many people are going to be watching to see what he is going to say for that opening
03:30monologue.
03:31Again, Christina, thanks so much again for the updates coming out of L.A.
03:36And again, we want to mention what Sinclair is saying.
03:40They put out this statement today saying, beginning tomorrow night, Sinclair will be preempting
03:44Jimmy Kimmel Live across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming.
03:51Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show's potential return.
03:56And this statement coming from Andrew Colvett, who is the executive producer of The Charlie
04:01Kirk Show, as well as Turning Point's spokesperson, saying Disney and ABC caving and allowing Kimmel
04:08back on the air is not surprising, but it's their mistake to make.
04:12Nextstar and Sinclair do not have to make the same choice.
04:17So we will see what Nextstar is going to do.
04:21Sinclair says they are already going to be sitting this one out.
04:24We'll see if they change their minds before tomorrow night.
