00:00All right, let's say in the WNBA, after just days after being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs,
00:05the Seattle Storm fired head coach Noelle Quinn, who had been with the team since 2021,
00:10and she was the second longest tenured coach in the league.
00:13Quinn led the Storm to the inaugural Commissioner's Cup and four playoff appearances in five seasons.
00:18Seattle now joins the expansion teams in Portland and Toronto with open head coaching vacancies here, Renee.
00:23Well, the key, as you mentioned, was second longest tenured because last offseason,
00:26about half the league's coaches were let go following the conclusion of the season.
00:31And so for Noelle Quinn, her contract not renewed, but also the entire coaching staff was let go.
00:35Keep in mind, though, the Seattle Storm have been a team that's been under investigation
00:38because multiple players have come out claiming that they received harassment,
00:43they were talked to and mistreated, toxic environment,
00:47that the Seattle Storm has, their coaching staff has been at the core of those accusations,
00:51including Jew Lloyd, which is why she requested a trade out of Seattle.
00:54So in addition to the fact on the court, they've been a team that hasn't been able to advance
00:58past the second round of the playoffs during her tenure,
01:01even with players like Brianna Stewart and Jewel Lloyd and Naka Ogumike, the list goes on and on.
01:06But off the court, they've had a lot of issues,
01:08which to me is why it made sense for them to move on from her and the staff.
