London transport news.

00:00Hello, yes, more bad news for Londoners when it comes to transport news.
00:04City Thameslink in London has now been named officially the worst of Britain's busiest railway stations for cancellations in the year to August.
00:15About 1 in 13 trains were cancelled out of 150,000 scheduled stops during that time, according to the Office of Rail and Road figures.
00:28Now, those cancellations were among about 3 million cancelled stops in Britain of a scheduled 89 million.
00:39The government has said that it is determined to deliver what it describes as the biggest overhaul of the railways in a generation.
00:48So, with a London station being officially named the worst station in the UK's busiest stations for cancellations, how are Londoners feeling about London Transport?
00:59Do they see trains cancelled regularly? And what's their overall feeling when they go to get on a train in the capital?
01:06I think cancellation is due to a number of factors, perhaps including infrastructure problems, perhaps including difficulties with staff.
01:17So, I think in the current market, yes, it's obvious there's going to be quite a few cancellations.
01:23Should it be addressed? Obviously, because it has an enormous impact on people's well-being, on the economy, on the ability to get around.
01:32And so, yeah, it's a real issue. But you always have to look at the causes of issues before you just start exploding about them.
01:40Because often there's some quite simple solutions that could be implemented.
01:44We don't get too many cancellations, which is quite good, apart from the strikes that have just happened, which completely, like, ruined the whole transport link.
01:53But not too bad on the underground, the Northern Line, but I don't know about the City Thames link, just because I don't get it.
02:01But, yeah, not too bad. But with all the strikes going on at the moment, I know they're causing absolute chaos.
02:07And even for me, like, I have to be in work every day when they were going on.
02:12In general, I think the transport system is quite good in London because we have alternatives.
02:16So if one part falls down, you can always pick up something else.
02:19And I think that we have a very rich choice with the overground, the underground, the buses.
02:24We even have fairly good other forms of public transport, like taxis.
02:28And we have obviously the contributions of private companies like Uber and others.
02:33So we can get around more or less. We also have our feet and we should be perhaps using our feet a lot more than we do.
02:38But that's not to say that it's not an issue, particularly with commuters who come a longer distance.
02:45London is not just the centre of London or the first few boroughs.
02:47It's actually a much wider spread.
02:49And one of the great things about London is how many people come into London, work in London and have a reliable and safe journey home.
02:57And that's obviously something that we should all think about, not just ourselves.
