00:00Bank Station, paired with Monument, is one of London's busiest and most complex transport
00:05hubs. It first opened in 1900 on the Northern Line, and later that year the Central Line
00:11joined it. Over time, more lines were added and tunnels were linked to allow interchange.
00:17Because it sits directly beneath Bank Junction, where many of the city's major roads meet,
00:22the station had to be built entirely underground, with sharply curving tunnels to avoid key landmarks
00:28like the Bank of England. In 2023, a huge £700m upgrade was completed, adding a new entrance
00:37on Cannon Street, lifts, escalators and wider passageways, boosting capacity by 40%.
00:45Step outside and you're in the heart of London. The Bank of England, the Royal Exchange
00:49and Mansion House, plus Leadenhall Market is all nearby.
