00:00Jones takes a shot. It is Pearsall. Did he hold on? He did.
00:12One on one ball and number one hauls it in for the best catch of the day.
00:17It's first and goal, San Francisco.
00:20Now, back to Willard and Dibbs on 95.7 The Game.
00:25That's Adam Amin on Fox. He does a great job. You know who else does a great job?
00:28Who? Ricky Pearsall. Yeah, he does.
00:31I don't get a lot of stuff right. I'm certainly no 11-2 fancy pants.
00:37Okay. All right. I'm not.
00:39You can victory lap this every single Monday.
00:42I would like to. You can.
00:44Even though, I mean, the season could turn around and go the other way any moment.
00:49But I spent all August letting everybody know, don't worry about Juwan.
00:56The Niners have their number one receiver.
00:59Don't worry about Brandon.
01:01The Niners have their number one receiver.
01:04He goes by the name, Ricky Pearsall.
01:07I got to partake him for himself now.
01:09Thank you. You got to do it right.
01:11But.
01:12Ricky Pearsall now.
01:13Ricky Pearsall now.
01:14He can play.
01:15And he can play.
01:18Boy, I'm old enough to remember when y'all called me nuts for saying that he was going
01:23to go for over 1,000 yards this year.
01:26He only needs another 700 and change.
01:30700.
01:30I mean, we're on week three.
01:33What is he like?
01:35What is he, third or fourth in the league right now?
01:38By yards?
01:39I mean, we're three weeks in.
01:41On his current pace, he would break 1,000 if he plays just 11 games.
01:44Week 11.
01:46So, I don't know where this is going to go.
01:48And yes, other receivers are going to get thrown back into the mix.
01:51That's part of this too.
01:52I'm not expecting that many targets for Ricky every week.
01:56You're also switching quarterbacks.
01:58Blah, blah, blah.
01:59It's not even for me really about where these numbers end up.
02:03It's about the baller that we're watching.
02:06And Ricky Pearsall of these year one or year two, because he's kind of year one and a half
02:11as we know, of these receivers, he is in very, very elite company.
02:17You know, Ibuka and Malik Neighbors.
02:19I'm scratching my head.
02:21We'll see him this weekend.
02:22I don't know what's going on with Brian Thomas Jr.
02:25I think he's fantastic.
02:26But Trevor Lawrence has decided that Parker Washington is maybe more worth his time.
02:31I don't know what's going on in Jacksonville.
02:33Right.
02:33But there are a handful of guys from the last two drafts that really pop.
02:39And Marvin Harrison Jr. is not one of them.
02:41And Ricky Pearsall is.
02:42Lad McConkie throws some other names in there.
02:46But this is one of them dudes.
02:48And I think the Niners got this one right.
02:50Big time.
02:51Yeah, no doubt.
02:52No doubt.
02:53I mean, if you want to go back three drafts, which is probably a little bit too much of a cherry pick,
02:58but you've got Puka Nakua, third year, Jackson Smith, Njigba.
03:03Those are the only two guys who have more yards than Ricky Pearsall right now.
03:07Malik Neighbors in his class is behind him.
03:10Even Jamar Chase is behind him.
03:12And, you know, so many of the guys.
03:13Ricky Pearsall, third right now in the league in just receiving yards.
03:17And you're right.
03:18It'll probably go down when you get Demarcus Robinson back and eventually Brandon Ayuk back.
03:23And you get George Kittle back.
03:25And Juwan Jennings back.
03:26Juwan Jennings back.
03:27A lot of pass catchers coming.
03:28A lot of guys who are going to be coming back.
03:30And that's actually good for Ricky.
03:31It's good for everybody.
03:32But in the meantime, when you need a big play, you go to Ricky Pearsall.
03:37And that's just the way this goes.
03:38And even looking at the first half where third and ten on your own 31-yard line
03:43and you're trying to get that field goal and you're trying to do the score now, score later thing
03:48that Kyle Shanahan loves and you get a Ricky Pearsall explosive play, 20 yards, boom.
03:54Move the chains on third and ten.
03:55And you eventually got a 51-yard field goal to give you the halftime lead.
03:59And, of course, the big play late on that fourth and two.
04:02Unreal.
04:03Where great throw, too, from Mac Jones.
04:05But Ricky went up there and he got it.
04:07He eye-pointed it and got the two feet down.
04:09And that turned out to be the play that led to the Kyle Juszczyk touchdown.
04:14Yeah, the only touchdown.
04:15The only touchdown of the game.
04:17But that was a huge throw and just even plays where he doesn't get the completion, the routes
04:24he runs, and the trust that Mac Jones has, you can clearly see that he's the dude.
04:29That's the word, trust.
04:30I mean, I could not believe, and I don't know to what level.
04:33I don't know what call was sent out there.
04:35But fourth and two, you're already in, like, what's lengthy, granted, lengthy field goal range.
04:40But you're in what you could try, a field goal.
04:44And they go for it on fourth and two.
04:46And Mac didn't even blink.
04:47He just snapped, one foot drop, go.
04:51Just hucked it up to him right away.
04:53And so that's a lot of trust.
04:55That's a lot of faith in the players.
04:57There was a call from Mark Sanchez on the commentary where they got up to the line, there was no
05:02pre-snap motion, they just got up there, and it was, like, right away, first thing that
05:07they did is just, boom, snap it, and Pearsall got free, got a free release, and, you know,
05:12he had one-on-one down the sideline, and the throw was there.
05:14I can't wait to talk to Greg Cosell about that on Wednesday.
05:18Oh, he's going to.
05:18The design.
05:19He might have a bromance with Ricky Pearsall.
05:22And also the play design on.
05:25Yeah, thank you.
05:26On the McCaffrey screen that set up the game-winning field goal.
05:29Yes, really good.
05:29That was a really good play call, too.
05:318-8-9-5-7.
05:33Uh-huh.
05:349-5-70.
05:35That's the number.
05:36We're asking you, what's winning inside your emotions today?
05:38The 3-0 start or the devastation that Nick Bosa's out for the year with yet another torn
05:44ACL?
05:45Let's go to Guru in San Jose.
05:47Guru, what's going on?
05:51Hey, Mark.
05:52Hey, Dan.
05:52Thanks for taking my call once again.
05:56Yeah, so, I mean, the news is still fresh, right?
05:59And it's still fresh in my mind.
06:02Yesterday, I was very, very psyched about 3-0.
06:05Eddie Pinheiro hits the field goal.
06:06I go straight to the gym because I'm on such a high.
06:10But, yeah, I mean, I guess I go back to one of the main reasons I'm excited about the 3-0
06:17start has been because of the defense and how good it has looked through three weeks.
06:22And, I mean, you can put the credit on solid.
06:25You can put the credit on the rookies.
06:26But I do think Nick Bosa, and he has been playing better this year than he has been the
06:33previous two years, at least through the first three weeks, that you cannot help but, I mean,
06:39think that this is like a crushing blow to them.
06:41And we saw the numbers, the pressure numbers with and without Bosa over the course of this
06:46game, I mean, the Niners' defense, they do have their work cut out for them.
06:52But I guess I'm looking for another reason to be excited about the Niners.
06:56And hopefully, with Brock Purdy returning and with Demarcus Robinson and Juwan Jennings,
07:01does that help the running game a little bit more?
07:03I hope so because I think that's what the Niners are going to need now to win games.
07:07They're going to need sustained, long drives on offense so that the defense can get a little
07:12more rest.
07:13I mean, I think the title position for the Cardinals was way more than the Niners was
07:19on Sunday.
07:21I don't think they could get away with that anymore, especially with Bosa being out.
07:24But yeah, it's just sad news, and it's fresh on my mind.
07:28Maybe tomorrow I think differently.
07:29Who knows?
07:30That's fair.
07:30Yeah, Guru, thank you for the call.
07:32Look, this is a gut punch.
07:35We can acknowledge that.
07:37This is a brutal, brutal injury.
07:39For him personally, for the 49ers, for their season, I just know that these things, they
07:48happen, and teams have survived them before.
07:52I mean, the most famous, at least in recent years, hell, the Philadelphia Eagles were on
07:57a track to win the Super Bowl, and they lost a quarterback to a torn ACL.
08:00And then they won the Super Bowl anyway.
08:03Yep, yep.
08:03In fact, they won the Super Bowl with a quarterback who then showed that he's not worthy of being
08:08a starting, like, what happened that year?
08:10I don't know.
08:11But sometimes you catch lightning in a bottle, and the 49ers will need to do that, too.
08:16And in a way, I would argue this might sound weird, but if you're going to have a devastating
08:21injury, let's know about it in week three, so that you can game plan around it, you might
08:29be able to acquire more players around it, you can do something about it.
08:34This is, for example, easier to deal with than what happened to Dre Greenlaw at halftime
08:40of the Super Bowl.
08:41For sure.
08:42Nothing you can do about that.
08:43Or what happened to Brock Purdy in the NFC Championship.
08:45Exactly right.
08:46I mean, okay, Josh Johnson, get in there and, you know, do good things.
08:50He led him on a touchdown drive, and then he got hurt, and it's like, okay, what are
08:54we even doing here?
08:55But you're right.
08:56You've got 14 more games.
08:57You have a trade deadline.
08:58You've got a bunch of rookies you drafted who you can now move around.
09:02You've got a defensive coordinator that you love, and you brought back, and your defense
09:06looks awesome.
09:07And you have an offense that is most likely getting healthier and getting better.
09:12So every time you go out there and play, you can win a football game in a different
09:17way.
09:17And I don't know if this, like, 16 to 15 style of victory is going to really be sustainable.
09:24So, yeah, go out there, offense.
09:26Now it's your turn.
09:27The defense carried you for the first three weeks where they were the better unit for
09:32the most part, and you're 3-0, not because of them, but they were, you know, clearly,
09:37to me, the better unit.
09:38So now, offense, it's up to you.
09:41Go ahead and pick us up.
