00:15And now we take you out to the sights and sounds of the game between the Browns and the Ravens.
00:19Let's take you out to Baltimore with our announcers, Tom McCarthy, Ross Tucker, and Amanda Balionis.
00:25It is a gorgeous day in Baltimore's Inner Harbor, an M&T Bank Stadium.
00:33Two teams who are 0-1 going at it, the Ravens and the Browns.
00:37They're celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Baltimore Ravens.
00:41That's not why Joe Flacco was in.
00:43Lamar Jackson, who replaced him, trying to right the ship of the Baltimore Ravens.
00:49Hey, everybody, I'm Tom McCarthy, along with Ross Tucker.
00:52He's had a lot of crab cakes this weekend.
00:53Amanda Balionis will join us in just a little bit, as will Gene Steratore.
00:57Give me a snapshot of what we're going to see today.
00:58Well, listen, both these teams are coming off of devastating one-point losses in games that they really dominated and probably should have won.
01:06Pretty incredible that 40-year-old Joe Flacco is still playing quarterback in the NFL.
01:10Listen, this is rare.
01:12It's not very often that a former MVP of the Super Bowl comes back and gets a chance to play in that city for the first time.
01:19The crowd is at a fevered pitch right now to see Flacco back out here yet again.
01:24He's playing well, by the way.
01:25And he has 40 tickets of fans and friends that are here.
01:28Lamar Jackson, give me an idea of what he's expecting today.
01:30It's unbelievable.
01:31I mean, two years ago, he won the MVP.
01:33Last year, he was better.
01:35And I thought Sunday night against Buffalo, he was even better.
01:38I don't know how good he can be, but I'm not sure we've seen it yet.
01:41And it certainly helps when you have Derrick Henry running downhill in the backfield.
01:46Look, this guy's 31 years old.
01:48I have no idea how he's still playing at this high of a level at that position.
01:53Meanwhile, the Browns defense will have to deal with him.
01:55They dealt with the Bengals last week, but came up short.
01:58They were fantastic last week against Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase.
02:02They stuffed the run for the most part.
02:04They are looking to wreak havoc in the backfield.
02:07You see some of the rookies getting involved, and of course, Myles Garrett.
02:11Yeah, Myles Garrett.
02:11We always have to talk about Myles Garrett.
02:13It's unbelievable.
02:14He had two sacks, four tackles for loss last week.
02:17He's going to have to be the guy for Cleveland to have a chance today.
02:21Well, they are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Baltimore Ravens with the Browns in town.

03:59So many storylines here in Baltimore, but the biggest one, Amanda, is probably Joe Flacco.
04:04It certainly is, Tom.
04:05And we asked Joe about his return to Baltimore, and he said,
04:08I'm not sure how the fans are going to receive me, but I do know I love playing football in this stadium.
04:14Now, he knows at the very least he'll have 40 friends and family members in the stands cheering him on,
04:19including his dad, who told him, listen, Joe, I don't really want to be at this game,
04:23but I do want to be here to either celebrate next to you or suffer beside you.
04:27I had a chance to talk to Joe before he went into the locker room.
04:30I said, how are you feeling?
04:31He gave me that cool Joe smile.
04:33He said, great, and ran away.
04:35Joe cool.
04:36That's exactly right.
04:37He said he was looking forward to them saying the O when they did the National Anthem.
04:41And so I think he got a chance to enjoy that, just as our producer, Jonathan Siegel,
04:45got a chance to enjoy that in the production cabinet.
04:48Yeah, love to see some Flacco jerseys out there.
04:51These people love him and certainly appreciate what he did here, and they should.
04:55Well, they're going to see him get the football first.
04:57The Browns will receive Baltimore.
04:59Won the toss.
04:59Don't defer.

05:04It's Jackson, or excuse me, Carter, who will bring the ball up.
05:06And he is down across the 22.
05:09All right, Ross, give me a little idea about Joe Flacco at 40.

05:15Curious to hear what the crowd sounds like.
05:18But now there's an injury, actually.
05:20Well, the injury obviously slows things up a little bit, but he's popped up and gone over
05:30to the side of the field.
05:31It was Ali.
05:32All right, sir, here's his numbers.
05:33Yeah, and I think that the injury might have muted the reaction a little bit for Flacco
05:37as Ali is still walking out.
05:41You know, the big thing is he played really well last week.
05:44Both those interceptions, Tom, really weren't his fault.
05:46They hit the receivers right in the hands.
05:48Jeff Kidd's in the backfield.
05:50We were told he would start.
05:52He is with Teron Ford.
05:55In motion is Tillman.
05:57A first down for the 22.

06:01And he talked a lot about Njoku and how hands-free he is.
06:07That is what Joe Flacco did last week, and lots of it.
06:11Ball out of his hand quickly.
06:13I thought it was interesting.
06:14He told us yesterday he thinks he's still improving in some ways
06:17in terms of recognizing the defense, getting the ball out quickly.
06:21The Ravens actually came with a blitz with Roquan Smith there.
06:23They're trying to speed up Flacco's process, but he was all over it.
06:27Second down at four.
06:28Fannin in the ball game.
06:29Left side of the offensive line.
06:31The outstanding tight end.
06:32Flacco to throw.
06:33He's got Fannin.
06:34And Fannin across the 35.
06:36And he gets up to the 40.

06:43This guy, Tom, is a guy that they love.

06:48This is all he did last week.
06:50He had seven catches.
06:51Samson had eight catches.
06:53If the Ravens' second-level defenders keep dropping back that much in their zone coverage,
06:59Flacco will just take that all day long.

07:10How about a do-right tackle for the Browns?
07:12Well, Jack Conklin, unfortunately, is out today.
07:16He got poked in the eye last week, but he hurt his elbow on Wednesday in practice.
07:22He came out before the game, tried to work out.
07:24Not good enough.
07:25So Cornelius Lucas, who's a pretty experienced guy, will be there.
07:29But that might have been partially his responsibility with Roquan Smith running through on that play.
07:34Lucas is a pretty good pass blocker, but not nearly the run blocker that Conklin is.

07:39They moved Samson back into the ballgame.
07:41He's been such a good receiver out of the backfield.
07:44Flacco pressure's coming.

08:47It's interesting, by the way, Tom, more pre-snap penalties last year than the NFL had since 2007.
08:55It's a problem, especially early in the season.
08:57And with these loud stadiums like M&T Bank Stadium as well.

09:06And Ford gets past the original line of scrimmage up to the 42.
09:10That's always funny because that's like a play that both teams are okay with, right?
09:14The Ravens are okay giving up some yards there as long as they force the Browns to punt.
09:19And the Browns are happy on third and 20 to pick up 13 yards from a field position standpoint.

09:25So the Horkes is on to punt the ball the way for the Browns.

10:20But that's absolutely the case with Lamar Jackson.

10:26And last Sunday night against Buffalo, he was almost flawless.
10:29Just incredible, again, to lead the NFL in both passer rating and yards rushing for a quarterback.
10:35That's a crazy double for any player.

10:53So Miles Garrett's going to have some history matchups today.
10:55I think they're going to move him around a little bit as well.
10:57That time he was right over Ronnie Stanley.
10:59We know what the Browns like to do.
11:01We know what they have to do.
11:02Get up the field.
11:04Try to cause chaos in the backfield.
11:07But Ronnie Stanley's a good player.
11:08So I wouldn't be surprised if they move Garrett around.
11:11In particular, maybe give him some reps in obvious passing situations against the two guards for the Ravens.
11:17Those guys, Falalele and Voorhees, they're the weakest part of this Ravens 0-1.
11:21But Miles was talking glowingly about Stanley and how he rebounded last year after the injury.

12:29The Ravens turned the whole protection and a terrific job by Stanley against McGuire and that's gonna be a problem right there for the Browns right if Grant Delpit who's more of a thumper as a safety if he has to try to run with these slot receivers like Zay Flowers or Wallace across the field that's advantage Baltimore yeah it'll be first down up to the 24 yard line after a gate of 10 quick toss to Zay Flowers Flowers they like to get him into open space and he's across the 30 to the

13:06143 yards against Buffalo and he was wide open on a lot of crossing routes but they'd love to get him the ball in any way they can right you see
13:17first Raven receiver ever to make the Pro Bowl is just wild if you think about it since they're celebrating 30 years but they'd like to get him the ball in

13:51to try to wreak havoc Rosengarten takes a bad footwork and just opens the inside Graham takes advantage of it
13:58that's exactly why the Browns traded down they knew they could pick up the Jags first round pick
14:04thought they could still get Mason Graham did some really good things at the end of last week but these are the downs

14:48I don't want to speak too soon in this game against the Ravens offense

15:24Well, there's a reason why Browns fans love him and there's a reason why Kevin Stefanski loves him
15:29You know, he has played very well with the opportunities. He's been given in Cleveland
15:34He's a perfect fit for Stefanski's offense. Remember Stefanski was around Brett Favre when Favre was 40 and he talked about
15:41Like some guys could just throw the ball
15:43Here's Judkins with his second run and he gets positive yards up to the 14
15:48Speaking of Judkins the second round pick he signed his rookie deal just last Saturday for the Browns
15:54The running back on Wednesday met with the NFL
15:56Met with NFL officials reviewing his case under the league's personal conduct policy
16:01Prosecutors last month Ross chose not to pursue charges against Judkins in an alleged domestic incident
16:08So he hadn't been around the club the team since June that guy has had one padded practice in the NFL
16:14And it was Thursday after missing all of training camp fascinating to see his usage today
16:19Kevin Stefanski told us he does have a number in mind
16:22He didn't tell us what that number was his Flacco overthrows his intended receiver
16:27It was Isaiah bonds

16:32So we'll keep an eye on Judkins and how many plays he has how about the rookies too to watch well
16:40I mean look what dylan samson to the left and harold fannin to the right did we'll see what judkins

19:34So you can tell you know that flacco maybe that even motivates him a little bit

19:50Denzel ward was in on the coverage. You know, it's funny lamar said about joe
19:55He said what do you remember about him? He said his humility and his personality said in the video room said he was funny. He was cool

20:07It's so funny that everybody you talk to in the ravens organization
20:10The first thing they say is how cool joe is then they call him calm and collected joe cool
20:17You know, I go back to montana in the 80s. So it's weird
20:20Everybody calling him joe cool, but it certainly fits
20:24Flacco's demeaning
20:25Second down to 10. Do they get flowers involved again here? Well, they've gone home a couple times. They just changed the protection here
20:31They do get it to flowers underneath and flowers look how quick he is
20:37He makes a man miss before he gets down to the 30 yard line just shy of the first down
20:43And this is where he just kills teams, right if you're in man-to-man coverage
20:50He's gonna be coming from the right side of the screen
20:53Denzel Ward's trying to run with him
20:55But they had a mesh concept which is when the other receivers run in the other direction as some interference and you can tell Denzel Ward a little frustrated

21:07Lamar Jackson's legs always bigger here comes Andrews. Yep, Andrews under center will keep it and go and he's got a first down
21:14That's not a form of the tush push there is it
21:16No, but it's very smart. It's a way to get a bigger body to do the quarterback sneak schwartz knew it was coming
21:22I think everybody knew it was coming and andrews does it very very well

22:31It is henry in the backfield pressure's coming jackson stays in the pocket
22:35He's got faith in henry clipped the pursuer isaiah mcguire
22:41And that gave jackson a little chance to dump it off
22:43You can't just be a running back right you got to do the dirty work sometimes watch henry here on the end man in the line of scrimmage mcguire
22:52Bam takes him out the legs that is beautiful. That's exactly how you want a running back to do that
22:58Gives lamar enough time and not only that probably slows down mcguire a little bit the next time right nobody likes getting their legs taken out from under

23:14Lamar slant and he couldn't get bateman he threw it behind him and it'll be fourth down greg newsome
23:21In on the coverage and we're gonna see tyler loop the rookie place kicker come on
23:26That's the third or fourth bad ball that lamar's thrown already in this game interestingly
23:31I don't know that he threw three or four bad balls all game on sunday night against buffalo
23:38Well, the ravens are very high on tyler loop
23:42Two for two field goals, but he did have that costly missed extra point
23:46This is a 43 yarder in college his long was 62 yards when he was at arizona as a freshman
23:52Stout is the holder good snap good hole kick is on its way and it is good
24:00So the ravens jump out to a three nothing lead with 306 to play here in the first quarter with loop in the background

24:36Although talking with the browns players and coaches they said what's said is said we got to go out there and back it up clearly
24:43The ravens were well aware of the comments from cleveland this week kevin stefanski said you know it's good fodder. It's good talk
24:50But joe flacco said but when that happens you've got to rally around your teammates when they do say stuff like that
24:56Yeah, and I know that people say you know
24:58It doesn't really matter once the game starts inside the white line
25:01But I can tell you if a d lineman was running out of his mouth
25:04That'd be a guy we would want to get after early in the game flag comes down a false start

25:18That's a critical error by the rookie luke the ball did not get into
25:23The landing zone has to go past the 20 yard line so the browns get fantastic field position
25:28All right, let's go to amanda for more on the bulletin board stuff
25:31Well tom like you said flacco said hey listen you won't find me saying stuff like this
25:35But it is our job to back it up as a team, but when we asked miles garrett he said listen
25:39I'm glad guys are speaking from their hearts
25:42He said we have more reason than anyone to feel disrespected with the way people have underestimated us heading into this season
25:48So miles garrett no problem with it. Yeah, they only won three games last year
25:51So they are a little underappreciated
25:53They feel good field position
25:56from the 40 yard line flacco under center
25:59Judkins and he is hit immediately roquan smith
26:07You could always count on sundays with the nfl on cbs and paramount plus
26:12It is a loss of four on the play
26:15That's the second tackle for loss already
26:18By roquan smith the leader of this ravens defense
26:22Played 85 of the 87 snaps last week and he's playing next to two linebackers that are rotating
26:28He admitted that's a little bit difficult. He's not used to it
26:32Not really always knowing who's going to be next to him from play to play
26:35But he did say it's part of his leadership that he's got to help them out
26:39On second down flacco off his back leg passes incomplete intended for bonds. It'll be third down
26:48Second time that the ravens have brought late

26:53Forced flacco to get rid of the ball before he wanted to and yet another third and very long
26:59This is not a good position for any nfl team in particular with the browns

27:21He's lofting it toward the near sideline. He just overthrows his intended receiver cedric tillman. It'll be fourth down

27:32Flacco's tried that deep corner route and it hasn't even been close the coverage was
27:38Fantastic and both times he just air mailed the ball out of bounds
27:41The browns need to come up with something a heck of a lot better than that

27:49Where he returned it for positive yards the other punt return was a fair catch we'll have another opportunity here
27:56He's just going to say get away as it bounces out of bounds
