Tua’s biggest supporter on the show is finally showing some frustration with his play. What do the Fins do with Tua if they ultimately let McDaniel and Greir go this season?

00:00A couple notes here from Twitter.
00:02Barry Jackson from the Miami Herald tweeted out,
00:05Dolphins fall to 6-10 in the last 16 games of the McDaniel-Tua era
00:12when Tua is healthy.
00:15There's been a regression on Tua's part, on McDaniel's part,
00:21and their ability to make magic together.
00:24Because 6-10 in their last 16 games,
00:28and these are only games that Tua has been healthy for,
00:306-10 is not a good record.
00:34If you look at the stat line from yesterday, Tua doesn't look bad.
00:39Somebody living in Omaha, it doesn't look bad.
00:42We saw Julian Hill wide open when he threw the interception.
00:45We saw him underthrow Tyreek,
00:47which on a stat page is going to look like a 47-yard completion.
00:51It should have been seven points.
00:53It was three points.
00:54You're playing a different game in the fourth quarter
00:56because we were in field goal range when that last drive happened,
00:59that two-minute debacle, but we're still in field goal range.
01:02Tua overthrew Tyreek.
01:04Tua is making a regression.
01:06He's not looking like the confident Tua.
01:09I got to go back last week, what Xavier Howard said,
01:12because it looked very much like what he said.
01:14If that first read's not there, there's a panic on this offense,
01:18and I don't know why it's happening year four still.
01:21But I do think it's fair to point out the difference between,
01:25and Hawk, you did in the first segment,
01:27the difference between week one and yesterday was night and day.
01:30I'm not excuse-making here for Tua.
01:34We all know how I feel about Tua.
01:36And Barry Jackson, Hawk, put out an article about Tua specifically
01:40in late-game situations, down seven points,
01:45needing a touchdown with under five minutes to go.
01:48He has a 78.1 passer rating, which he writes,
01:53hardly the stuff legends are made of.
01:55But yesterday, the offense finally caught some rhythm,
01:58and it just looked different, right?
02:00From the second to third, even early fourth quarter,
02:03it looked different.
02:04There was plays actually being made.
02:07It's hard because the other side of the football
02:10is just nonexistent right now with the defense as well.
02:13Neither side is playing well.
02:15Well, and when you really need the offense to look like they've gelled
02:19is at the end when you have to go downfield to either tie, win a game.
02:25And that's when the wheels come off again.
02:27And he makes the ridiculous interception where he said after the game,
02:31he's just fourth down trying to make something happen.
02:34One of the things that annoys me,
02:36because I always think it's going to be different,
02:38he has zero ability to extend a play.
02:44And it is so maddening watching other quarterbacks.
02:49He goes down so quickly.
02:51It's probably through design.
02:53It's been beaten into his head.
02:56You have to go down the minute you feel any pressure.
03:00You cannot try to extend a play.
03:02Like, I mean, this is by design.
03:04He's got the ability, Hawk.
03:05He has the ability.
03:06We saw it.
03:07We've seen it.
03:08He has the ability.
03:09Tua won't leave the pocket.
03:11They will not let him.
03:14And so even on, was it last night I was watching?
03:18It was a fourth and ten.
03:19I don't know.
03:20But like.
03:21Dak Prescott won the game.
03:23Dak is no.
03:24He's no Michael Vick.
03:26Dak Prescott.
03:27He's not putting up monster rushing numbers.
03:30Dude made a massive run up the middle when they needed it to be done.
03:38Tua is incapable of doing it because they won't allow him to do it.
03:43And it is such a.
03:45It's such a drive killer at the end when you need some magic to be made by a quarterback.
03:54We don't have that.
03:56And that's frustrating to me.
03:59I mean, it just.
04:00He goes down at the moment someone puts a mitt on him.
04:05He is down.
04:07They would.
04:08I was.
04:08I don't know.
04:09Because I was at the.
04:10What was the four o'clock game?
04:11The good with the Buffalo.
04:13Jets.
04:13Who played it for?
04:14OK, see.
04:15It was the case in the Eagles game.
04:17Casey Eagle.
04:18So they're talking during.
04:19And they were like, this is what this is the new NFL quarterback.
04:22The Jalen Hurts and the Josh where they can make every throw.
04:26But they're going to use their legs.
04:28You call Lamar Jackson.
04:30Let's just look at the top 10 damn MVP candidates are going to be quarterbacks.
04:36We do not have.
04:37To y'all's point, we might have a mobile quarterback, but there's no design of him to move around.
04:42They don't even move the pocket and play calling.
04:44That long, that long stretch and then the linemen run in front of them and they start patting the ball, looking across the field.
04:51Like they don't even move the pocket for two.
04:53They used to move the pocket for Chad Pennington.
04:57And Chad Pennington runs like my auntie.
05:00My auntie's 73.
05:02But they would move the pocket.
05:03So now the pass rush is affected because now everybody's running at an angle.
05:07So it's a, it's, listen, it's a, what, how did Kyle Long say?
05:14Or organization?
05:16Like it's something going on there.
05:18What's funny is remember last year too was like, I don't worry about who's playing on the offensive line.
05:23I get the ball out fast anyways, Brad.
05:25And it's, it's funny.
05:27He says that because he wasn't wrong by the way, last year or the season prior, I'm sorry.
05:33You know, he got the ball out faster than anybody and it was working.
05:36Well, guess what?
05:37Now Xavier Howard's like, oh, we know what two is doing.
05:40The whole league has caught on.
05:41It's not just Xavier Howard.
05:44He needs a couple extra seconds now because he wants to get the ball to Tyreek Hill over the top and he can't.
05:48So he needs that extra half second to a full second, but you don't have the guys to create the extra half second or full second for him anymore.
05:56So by the way, you're talking about the short pass to Tyreek, the pass that he underthrew.
06:03You keep saying it should have been seven instead of three.
06:05It really should have been a interception instead of, instead of saying it should have been seven.
06:11Like Tyreek helped him out by coming back and getting it.
06:14That defensive back didn't do himself any favors by not turning around.
06:18Like that easily could have been an, and, and listen, I'm all for throwing 50, 50 balls deep and let Tyreek go get it.
06:25So I'm not suggesting don't do that.
06:28I'm just saying that very easily could have been a, uh, an interception.
06:32The overthrow to the overthrow later in the game on Tyreek where Tyreek just runs like that little wheel route and two overthrows them.
06:39Uh, they point out on the broadcast, got very lucky.
06:41The DB slip behind Tyreek.
06:43Yes.
06:43If not, it would have been right in his hands.
06:45Probably.
06:46And, and the first, how about the first possession of the game?
06:48He threw an interception.
06:50We got lucky.
06:50There was offsetting penalties.
06:52Yeah.
06:52He literally threw the ball at the middle linebacker.
06:55It was insane.
06:58Across the middle.
06:59Bro, I'm telling you that Xavier and Howard quote is starting to look very, you know,
07:06how the Patriots used to pick up everybody the Dolphins cut just to talk with them pretty much.
07:10And then wouldn't let them play and cut them.
07:13Xavier and Howard is telling the league.
07:16I played with Tua for years.
07:18I know what he is.
07:20And he, but I'm sure the other defense coordinators see it.
07:24Solana, but like Crowder, Crowder, go look at last year.
07:26We couldn't.
07:27Oh, all of a sudden, everybody's like, oh, the Dolphins, you know, too high safety.
07:31Teams are playing too high safety before.
07:33This isn't new in the NFL.
07:35Like teams know this.
07:36Xavier and Howard just said the quiet part out loud.
07:39But I mean, Hawk just read you the numbers to a McDaniel together starting, finishing games.
07:45Like teams know this already.
07:47It hasn't been the same.
07:48Figured it out.
07:48Yeah.
07:49It ain't good.
07:50One other thing for 15 minutes of game day uncensored.
07:53By the way, game day uncensored this week will start at 4 p.m.
07:56on Thursday, Tobin, Solana, Omar Kelly, starting at 4 p.m.
08:03this Thursday, game day uncensored.
08:05They will bring you up to kickoff Thursday night in Buffalo.
08:09Oh, you guys are doing four to six with us, right?
08:12You guys are staying on the air.
08:13We'll be at Tucker Duke's.
08:14We're all going for Hockman burgers at four o'clock at Tucker Duke's.
08:18What the hell?
08:21What the hell?
08:21What the hell?
08:22Why don't y'all just go from two to seven?
08:26Yeah, you know what?
08:28Now that he says that.
08:30Yeah.
08:31Actually, I think we should go for Hockman burgers Thursday before the show, maybe for lunch on Thursday.
08:36I got to see if OG is.
08:38I better text OG today.
08:40Monday.
08:41He has to have three days notice.
08:43Oh, big bad Rondé Ganster.
08:45What's he ever done?
08:48And if we go to Tucker Duke's, I got to be home by two?
08:52Yeah.
08:54You got to go to Tucker Duke's at 8 a.m.
08:56I can't eat a burger at 8 a.m.
08:58We get there at noon.
09:00We eat a couple of Hockman burgers.
09:03I'll be home by two.
09:05I'm going to be sleepy by four, but I can give you two hours on Thursday.
09:10And then I nap at four.
09:12I wake up for the game.
09:14What time's the game?
09:148.15?
09:16Yeah.
09:17What channel do I need for Thursday?
09:20Good luck.
09:20Oh, goodness.
09:23What is it?
09:24No, Amazon Prime.
09:25Thursday night's Amazon Prime.
09:26There will be a local affiliate, though, because the local games always have a local affiliate.
09:31Bro, last Thursday, get to my parents' house.
09:34It's like 9.15.
09:34I had to pick something up.
09:35My dad is watching Buffalo Baltimore from the previous Thursday night.
09:44Last Thursday.
09:45Or on Monday.
09:48This was Monday.
09:49Whatever.
09:49He was watching Buffalo from the previous Thursday night.
09:55And I'm like, no, man.
09:56You're watching the wrong game, bro.
09:58This is old.
09:59He's happy.
10:00Let him watch the game.
10:02He's happy.
10:02He's having the time of his life.
10:03It's a lot of gamble with him.
10:05That's what I would do.
10:08Take him to the cleaner.
10:12One other note for Game Day Uncensored.
10:1515 minutes of Game Day Uncensored.
10:16Joe Shad tweets out, there are nine NFL teams that started 0-2 last year, but three did make
10:26the playoffs.
10:27The Ravens, the Broncos, and the Rams.
10:31So, Dolphins can do it.
10:32They can get this thing turned around.
10:35I've seen it happen before.
10:37Last year with the Ravens, Broncos, and Rams.
10:43Don't gamble on it.
10:46I wonder what Joe Shad has in the holster for teams who have started 0-3.
10:51I think we're going to be facing that stat.
10:54Very soon.
10:55Headlines brought to you by Doral Hyundai, home of the Pricito, our lowest price.
11:02Visit Doral Hyundai or DoralHyundai.com.
11:05It's too early for this, and I'm not trying to be negative here about Tua, but it did sound
11:12just a few minutes ago, Hawk and Crowder.
11:15You might be seeing a bit of the light when it comes to the limitations that the Dolphins
11:21starting quarterback has.
11:22Now, I'm not saying that Tua is a scrub or whatever, but that's been one of my frustrations.
11:26And what do you do if McDaniel ends up being canned at some point this season and Greer
11:32ends up losing his job at the end of the season?
11:34A lot of people feel like that's going to happen.
11:36What do you do with Tua?
11:37And I'm just being honest.
11:38Like, I don't know.
11:39It's a tough spot.
11:40The Dolphins are in.
11:41You're giving a lot of money to them.
11:43There's, you'd have a lot of dead cap space.
11:46There's, there's a lot of machinations and it just depends on the willingness of an owner
11:53to eat a bunch of money.
11:55And Steven Ross has shown no, uh, no inability to do that in the past, but also whoever the
12:02new general manager would be, how much, and a new head coach, how much they want to have
12:07tied up in dead cap space and do other coaches or general managers look at Tua and say, yeah,
12:14there's a reason he's regressed and it starts with Mike McDaniel and we can correct that.
12:19I would say to Hawk's point, I was just going to say that you have to see what the other
12:24team's evaluations are of Tua because we've seen the regression, but where does it come
12:28from?
12:29Does it come from the offense, the play calling, or does it come from Tua's ability?
12:33It's easy today to say he underthrew Tyreek Hill.
12:36He can't throw that far.
12:37I think Tua can throw further than he threw that ball to Tyreek.
12:40Or protection.
12:41Yeah.
12:42Give him protection.
12:42I think he can step into a 60.
12:44And that's exactly where he needed to throw that ball to Tyreek.
12:47But if they do move on, Tyreek Hill has to go.
12:53Just the older stars.
12:54And I don't wish for anybody to be fired.
12:58Tyreek Hill gets something back for him.
12:59You can get something back for him.
13:01Big contract.
13:02You can get something back for Bradley Chubb.
13:04You have Jalen Phillips.
13:05He's a young guy.
13:06He's going to want some money here in a year or so.
13:08If he stays healthy, you drafted Chop Robinson first round.
13:11So, you have young pass rushers.
13:13Bradley Chubb can get you something back.
13:15Like, you have to start piling up assets.
13:17If they get rid of Mike McDaniel and Chris Greer, they have to start compiling assets to rebuild, restructure, remove, whatever the reword is.
13:28That's how I feel.
13:28And to trade up to get Arch Manning.
13:32Man, I don't know about that one.
13:36Let's go too far.
13:38Let's go get Shadur.
13:39You see that report from Schefter?
13:41Shadur Sanders told the Ravens not.
13:43The Ravens were going to draft him.
13:45And he said, do not.
13:47Because I don't want to play behind Lamar Jackson.
13:51Yeah.
13:52Which is laughable.
13:53Which is true, though.
13:56Yeah, but he was going to play – at that point, he was going to play behind anyone.
14:00So, why wouldn't you want to play behind someone who's great?
14:03I'd rather play – because I want to get on the field, Hawk.
14:06I want to play behind 49-year-old someone who's great.
14:11No, he wants to get on the field.
14:13Flacco and Dylan Gabriel, he can beat out.
14:15He'll never beat out Lamar Jackson.
14:18I guess.
14:19I'd take him down here.
14:21I don't get that either, man.
14:22Like, I get to go to an organization where there's structure, stability, success.
14:28Like, I'd rather go to the place that signed Deshaun Watson?
14:33He wants to play.
14:35Then go to the CFL if you want to play that bad.
14:42He is going to start a game here in the next month, month and a half for the Browns.
14:47He would never start a game in Baltimore.
14:49I don't know about that, man.
14:51Yeah.
14:53They like –
14:54Flacco.
14:54Dylan Gabriel went in yesterday, threw a touchdown.
14:58I mean, if there's injuries, maybe.
15:00Why can't you do this?
15:01J.J. McCarthy had a good eight-minute window, and now he was the – oh, my goodness.
15:06No, he's terrible.
15:09How many times, though, do you see a team go to their third stringer,
15:13and it's not due to injuries, and one of the players you're ostensibly benching him for
15:21is someone who was drafted two runs higher than him?
15:24Like, I don't think he starts a game unless there's significant injuries.
15:28I just don't see it.
15:29Oh, no.
15:29Hunk, Joe Flacco's, oh, he's going to get gout, and then Dylan Gabriel's going to play
15:33about three, four games and be bad, and then Shadour's going to get in.
15:37But you would – in other words, you would give up on Dylan Gabriel after three or four
15:42games to play another quarterback that you drafted behind him?
15:46Yeah, the story came out that the owner didn't want Shadour.
15:51The coach, Stefanski, and them wanted Shadour.
15:53The GM wanted Shadour.
15:55So if Dylan Gabriel goes one and three, the coach and the GM push to get Shadour Sanders.
16:03They put him in to prove that they're right.
16:05It's the same argument I have for little OG making the Chargers.
16:09If that GM and head coach wanted that player, they're going to advocate for that player
16:14because it makes them look good.
16:16Would there ever be a funnier injury designation than gout?
16:24I'd pray for that Schefter tweet.
16:26Joe Flacco, out this Sunday.
16:29Well, someone had – which one am I thinking of?
16:32There was one that was very funny over the last couple of years.
16:36Or was it NBA?
16:40You know, this purrs, what's the – he used to do some funny ones.
16:44Yeah, Popovich would do some funny designations.
16:49Yeah, I got to look at the –
16:50I've never seen gout, but it's a good thing.
16:53I've got headlines here, so we have enough time with John Michaels.
16:57All right, guys.
16:58Speaking of injuries to quarterbacks, Joe Burrow is going to need toe surgery,
17:04and it's going to sideline him a minimum of three months now.
17:08Terrible.
17:10Browning came in yesterday.
17:12I don't know.
17:13Like, is his burrow really that good?
17:15Because every time Browning comes in, they end up winning the game anyway.
17:18Did you watch much of that game, though?
17:19Because he threw some picks that were brutal.
17:23I don't know how they won that game.
17:25But he threw some picks that were brutal.
17:30The thing I saw was that –
17:33Now, Tyreek Hill is supposed to be one –
17:34like a top Hall of Fame, top five receiver, right?
17:38Even with Jake Browning in the game, Jamar Chase had 14 receptions.
17:43Well, it's funny.
17:44Lori said to me yesterday –
17:46it was before Jalen Waddle caught the touchdown –
17:49but she's like, does Waddle play anymore on this team?
17:51And I said, yeah, he's out there.
17:54And she said, how come he doesn't catch a lot of balls
17:57and I guess they double-team him?
17:59And I'm like, well, all the good receivers get double-teamed
18:03or, you know, deed hard.
18:07Like, somehow, quarterbacks find a way or offensive coordinators
18:13find a way to get the ball in the hands of receivers.
18:16You did see it yesterday, by the way, though.
18:19So, to be complimentary of the team, he threw, I think,
18:24to five different players on one drive.
18:29And Tyreek had over 100 yards receiving,
18:32which has been kind of an earmark for their success.
18:36I think we have a stat that, you know,
18:37when he catches for 100 yards or more, they're, you know, whatever.
18:42It's a very good record.
18:4311-0 when he's 99 yards or more receiving.
18:47And I think now they drop to 7-18.
18:51I have to double-check that.
18:52But it's significantly below 500 when he doesn't catch 99 yards.
18:56But he caught for over 100 yards yesterday.
18:59Like, they did everything that they kind of needed to do.
19:03But there were a couple of just events.
19:06You know, the kickoff return after the punt return was, I mean,
19:10a gut punch like only Dolphins fans know how to receive.
19:14And it was just, there was just myriad times where you're like,
19:18wow, they're actually going to win this game.
19:19And then somehow they couldn't.
19:22I mean, this Mike Vrabel tried to hand the Dolphins every opportunity
19:27to win that game at the end.
19:29That pass on second down, I understand what they were trying to do.
19:34When they were trying to run out the clock or wanted to run out the clock,
19:37that pass on second down, I think it was Andrew Catalan and Jason McCourty.
19:45Oh, J.J. McCarthy, Jimmy says,
19:47sidelined for two to four weeks with a high ankle sprain.
19:50Carson Wentz now in line to start the Vikings.
19:54He's not the only one, but there's a ton of injuries.
19:58J.J. McCarthy, Jaden Daniels is, it might miss some time as well.
20:02He's dealing with a knee injury.
20:04Justin Fields is in concussion protocol.
20:06Brock Purdy didn't play this past week is likely out for a couple more weeks as well.
20:12Burrow with toe surgery, like quarterbacks are going down, man.
20:15Ours is, is Dan, baby.
20:17Look who's durable.
20:19I had this conversation to go back just to receive a conversation
20:23because Chan was asking me because he watched the game last night.
20:26He was like, Justin Jefferson can get open whenever he wants to.
20:30Cause they double team him, but he's just going to press the corner up.
20:32The safety's high.
20:33He's going to run those comebacks to the sideline.
20:35He's going to run the end routes, like double teaming a good receiver.
20:38You could scheme it up.
20:40Jamar Chase, 14 catches.
20:42That's just stupid.
20:43Like I played against Moss, Andre Johnson.
20:45I don't care how many people you put on a guy.
20:48You could scheme him to get open.
20:49If you know the coverage, Tyreek is that good.
20:53Cause he's that fast.
20:54Like use him, shoot him inside on the safety safety jumped around.
20:58And then he goes behind the corner.
20:59That's what happened when he was wide the hell open.
21:01He was double teams when he was wide the hell open into a under through him.
21:06That's what goes on.
21:07You can, but he got his catches and he got his yards.
21:09How many receptions did he have?
21:10He got targeted.
21:11He got yards.
21:12He got receptions.
21:13And we're getting back to that.
21:14But for him to have those, that lull of games, where it was whatever, since last season of
21:19him, not getting a hundred yard.
21:21Justin Jefferson is setting records.
21:23Jamar Chase is setting records.
21:25Tyreek can play with them.
21:27Why isn't he setting records?
21:28And it goes back to the, to the Mike McDaniel conversation.
21:31And Hawk, I got to run back because when, when your wife asked you, why is Waddle not getting
21:37the ball?
21:38Don't tell her he got D hard.
21:40That's not really.
21:41I'm trying to get her in the mood.
21:43How'd that work?
21:45Things weren't going well for the Dolphins.
21:46I thought maybe they could go well for her old uncle Marky here.
21:51Didn't work well.
21:52No.
21:52I hope you had the under.
21:54You put on a McDaniel performance.
21:56My press conference afterwards, I said, yeah, we're having a difficult time with getting
22:08the personnel in and out.
22:16What happened to Jalen?
22:19We need to report this to the NFL.
22:21Well, six for, uh, for a buck oh nine, by the way, for, uh, six receptions, six receptions,
22:37but for a buck oh nine, you can do that and try to get us to bite.
22:44What do you mean?
22:46Wasn't it half field?
22:48He texted us half field yesterday.
22:51It's that's not a football field.
22:56It's not a football.
22:57It's not a football for you.
22:59Half field?
23:00Half says the world.
23:02Everyone.
23:02It's not a football term.
23:03It's Lombardi wouldn't say half field.
23:06Those two words are synonymous with one another.
23:09Half and mid.
23:12It's not.
23:13The middle and the half.
23:15The middle and the half.
23:17What's the difference?
23:17Half field, midfield.
23:18Same thing.
23:19Same difference.
23:19But if I say I want half lemonade, half iced tea, uh, and Arnold Palmer, if I say I want
23:28half lemonade, half iced tea, I couldn't say to the server, oh, give me mid lemonade, mid
23:34iced tea.
23:35No, but you could, but you could say pour in a glass, pour lemonade up to the middle.
23:40And then pour, and then pour iced tea.
23:46All right.
23:46If anything else.
23:51Monday night football, double team tonight.
23:54Your weather.
23:55Crazy week.
23:55Food.
23:56Instead of saying I want to grill cheese.
23:58I'd like you to take two pieces of bread, put a couple slices of cheese in between them.
24:05Excuse me, sir.
24:05What are you?
24:06Just give me the item name.
24:08Just give me the item name.
