00:00Now in Argentina, universities and workers at the Garrahan Hospital in Buenos Aires are
00:05holding a 48-hour strike in protest against the vetoes of President Javier Milley.
00:11After his party's defeat in the Buenos Aires elections last Sunday, the Argentine president
00:16decided to reaffirm his economic policy by vetoing funds to public universities and the
00:22Garrahan Hospital.
00:23On the other hand, the Federation of University Teachers, FEDUM, began a 24-hour strike in
00:29all educational institutions in the country after President Milley vetoed the University
00:34Fond du Law and the Pediatric Emergency Law last Thursday.
00:38For their part, Garrahan Hospital workers called for a noise protest at the health facility and
00:45throughout the country in rejection of the government's vetoes.
00:49On Sunday, the government suffered a significant blow at the polls because the workers are essentially
00:57rejecting the adjustments being implemented on all fronts, and without a doubt, the adjustment
01:01at Garrahan Hospital was very poorly received.
01:04That's why we have had strong popular support for the struggle at Garrahan Hospital.
01:07One might think that the government, well, doesn't understand the situation.
01:11We understand that they do understand it.
01:12They want to go all out against the public hospital.
01:14They want to go all out against public health.
01:16And we are going to give them a strong response.
01:20We are once again supporting Garrahan.
01:22We were at all the possible marches thinking that the President would become aware, but the
01:25truth is that the veto took us by surprise and with great sadness.
01:29We are here supporting the hospital once more, supporting the universities and the retirees,
01:33with all the struggles.
01:34Nowadays, we have to take to the streets.
01:37It is very important for people to become aware.
01:40We have to go out and fight for the country.
01:42We don't deserve it.
01:43Our children don't deserve it.
