00:06are holding a 48-hour strike in protest against the vetoes of President Javier Millet.
00:13After his protest defeat in the Buenos Aires province elections last Sunday,
00:18the Argentine president decided to reaffirm his economic policy
00:22by vetoing funds to public universities and the Garahan Hospital as well.
00:27On the other hand, the Federation of University of Teachers, FEDUM,
00:32began a 24-hour strike in all educational institutions in the country
00:37after the president vetoed the university funding law as well as the pediatric emergency law last Thursday.
00:45For their part, the Garahan Hospital workers also called for a noise protest at the house facility
00:51and throughout the country in rejection of the government's vetoes.
00:57And in this same context, Argentine governors are denouncing the government's veto
01:07on the Treasury allocation for provinces law.
01:10According to the president, Javier Millet, this law undermines fiscal balance
01:15and distort the fund's emergency purpose, insisting on executive discretion to address federalism's varying needs.
01:22The executive order was forwarded to the Senate for review where lawmakers can override the veto
01:28with a two-thirds majority.
01:30The law is a congressional measure aimed at allocating emergency funds from the Treasury
01:35to all the provinces in the country.
01:37The governors emphasize that the provinces expect concrete answers
01:42and not just pictures for electoral purposes.
