00:00This investigation was instigated by TAS Racing and referred to the incoming Tasmanian Racing
00:07Integrity Commissioner, Sean Carroll. It was an audit of betting activity by Tasmanian
00:13Racing participants and, as you mentioned, was a six-month investigation. The findings
00:18were released today and it found that five Tasmanian Racing stewards placed more than
00:23200 bets across a two-and-a-half-year period on thoroughbred, harness and greyhound races in
00:30Tasmania. One of those stewards placed 49 bets on harness and thoroughbred races, totaling about
00:36$1,400 for a net profit of about $100. And another steward placed 162 bets, totaling $273 for a loss
00:46of $244. Importantly, those stewards were involved in a number of races or placed bets on races in
00:56which they were officiating and on a number of occasions were part of stewards' panels that
01:01were conducted in the aftermath of those races. A further three stewards were found to have placed
01:07bets but not while they were officiating races or while they were employed by either the Office
01:13of Racing Integrity or by Tas Racing. So the recommendation will be that Tas Racing determine
01:19what the penalties are. There's been no criminal conduct that's been found. There's no allegation
01:24of race-fixing or money laundering or anything of that nature. These will be breaches of code
01:29and conduct and potential misconduct within the rules of racing and within the laws of Tas Racing
01:37as well. We know that two of the stewards resigned during the course of the investigation. A further
01:44two are expected to be terminated and one of the stewards is currently stood down but their employment
01:50status is currently to be determined. So no penalties as yet. They will be for Tas Racing to decide but we're
01:59expecting more news on that soon.
