00:00It's been a big week for Queensland's richest racing carnival, and its main event will go
00:06ahead on the Gold Coast this weekend.
00:09Last Friday, police were called to investigate damage to the Gold Coast Turf Club's racetrack.
00:14The venue had been due to host the first race of the Gold Coast Magic Millions, but suspected
00:18poisoning forced the meet to be moved two hours north to the Sunshine Coast.
00:23Heavy machinery and experts were called in, and they've been working overtime to repair
00:27the track.
00:28It had been unclear whether this weekend's races would go ahead on the Gold Coast, with
00:32Brisbane's Eagle Farm pencilled in as a back-up plan.
00:36But horses were galloped over the turf earlier today, and it was deemed safe for the $14
00:41million race day to go ahead on Saturday.
00:45Racing officials shared the news this morning.
00:47The licence report that the new patch of track played exactly the same as the rest of the
00:52track and will be racing here on Saturday.
00:54Questions still surround who or what poisoned the grass, and police investigations are still
01:00ongoing.
