00:05In that everyone's talking about how great he's going to be.
00:08Everyone's talking about generational this, generational that.
00:12But he's never actually been really good.
00:16You know, Arch Manning had the terrible week one game against Ohio State.
00:19It was awful.
00:20Awful.
00:21Came back against a much lesser opponent last week.
00:24And exactly what we thought would happen happened.
00:26Obviously, the offense starts clicking.
00:28He had a great first quarter, but it wasn't awesome in that game.
00:31Even though five touchdowns, I get it.
00:33It was like he was the best player in the country.
00:35And he was going against what amounts to a high school team.
00:37And I'm thinking about it.
00:39We just anointed these guys.
00:42Chicago Bears fans did.
00:43I didn't get it.
00:43You're desperate for a legitimate quarterback who could throw for 4,000 yards and 30 tutties,
00:48which has never happened in Bears history.
00:50In Texas, you're like, hey, Quinn Ewers is gone.
00:53Yo, he's a Manning.
00:54He's got Eli's last name.
00:56He's related to Peyton.
00:57He's going to be the next great quarterback, but neither one of them have ever done it
01:01on their respective fields.
01:03And I'm starting to think now, let me go back to the Chicago Bears and Caleb Williams.
01:09I know Tyson Bajan is their backup.
01:12And after him, I think Case Keenum is the third string quarterback.
01:14So forget about him for a second.
01:16You're going to be 0-2, in my opinion.
01:19The Lions are going to rebound after the embarrassment against Green Bay.
01:24There's no doubt in my mind, Dan Campbell's going to have those dudes ready to rock on
01:29Sunday against the Chicago Bears.
01:31Back-to-back divisional games.
01:33Can't go 0-2.
01:34Can't start off the year 0-2, especially two divisional losses, right?
01:37Correct.
01:38And Chicago, to be fair, is facing the same thing.
01:41They lost to Minnesota divisional rival.
01:43But if the Bears come out 0-2, and I think they will, and the Lions do what I think they'll
01:50do defensively to Caleb Williams, and that is, make him look average at best, why are
01:56we committed to just running him out there every single week?
02:00Because we picked him first?
02:02Well, that's part of it.
02:03The other part of, when you talk about generational talent, you're talking about things that
02:07don't necessarily equate to being a great football player.
02:10Like, your ability to throw the ball, your ability to scramble around, your ability to
02:13do all these things.
02:14And when I evaluated him, when I really studied Caleb Williams coming out of college, there
02:19were some issues that I had.
02:20The issues that I had coming out were, I think what wins in the National Football League is
02:25boring.
02:26Being on schedule, right?
02:29Reading through your progressions.
02:30If one is open, take it 100% of the time.
02:34If you've got to get to two, then get to two.
02:35Like, the thing that drove me crazy about Caleb Williams is he created everything off
02:41schedule.
02:42Well, when you play at USC, or you play at Ohio State, or you play at Alabama, or you
02:45play at one of these schools that you're always going to out-talent the guys you're
02:49facing, guess what?
02:50You can play off schedule.
02:52You can scramble around.
02:53You can make a big throw.
02:54And then we get excited as evaluators.
02:57Like, did you see that throw?
02:58That was amazing.
02:59None of it's on time.
03:01None of it's on schedule.
03:02And in the NFL, if you're not on time, you're done.
03:05As an offense, you are done.
