00:00Hello and welcome to Couton Cracker Jacks. Today I'm going to show you how you can make your very
00:03own pecan pie at home. With pecan season in full swing right now, now is the perfect time to make
00:09this classic fall pie. These are the ingredients that you'll need. So let's get started. I'm going
00:16to start off by cracking in four large eggs into a large bowl here and I'm going to make this
00:20entirely by hand using just a whisk. You don't need any special mixers or blenders or anything
00:25like that. And I'm just going to whisk those eggs up just a little bit, make it a little bit easier
00:30to mix in the rest of the ingredients. And I'm going to add in one cup of generic butter flavored
00:35pancake syrup. Now most pecan pie recipes call for just corn syrup. Pancake syrup is just flavored
00:42corn syrup. So this is just cutting out a few more ingredients. And to that I'm going to add in four
00:47tablespoons of melted butter as well as one cup of firmly packed light brown sugar.
00:55And I'm going to follow that up with one tablespoon of all-purpose flour. You don't have to add
01:02the flour if you don't want to. It just kind of helps bind everything together because this
01:05is basically a custard. And using your whisk, you just want to mix this together. Once you
01:10get that all mixed together, you want to add in a half a cup or two ounces of chopped pecans
01:15and just mix those in.
01:20And then I took a pastry pie crust. This is a homemade one that I made myself. You could also use store
01:25bought if you wanted to. I put that into a nine inch pie plate and fluted the edges. And I'm going
01:30to pour my pecan pie filling right into that pie crust. And to add some more pecans to this and
01:38also to kind of dress it up a little bit, I'm going to take pecan halves and I'm going to arrange
01:43these in concentric circles around the pie. I'm going to start by just laying them right on top.
01:48They kind of float on the surface. And I'm going to do a ring all the way around the outside.
01:52And when I get that done, I will do another ring inside of that and then finish up in the center.
01:57If you don't want your pie to look all fancy and everything, you don't want to mess with this,
02:01go ahead and add in another cup of chopped pecans when you're making up your filling.
02:05Then you want to place this into a preheated 350 degree Fahrenheit oven and bake this for between
02:1045 and 55 minutes. You want to watch this towards the end of the cooking time. Make sure that it
02:16doesn't brown too much on you. If it starts to brown, but it's not quite set in the center,
02:20go ahead and take a piece of foil and tent it over the top. That'll stop the browning,
02:24but still allow the inside to cook a little bit. When that is done, you want to go ahead and remove
02:29it and let it cool for a good half hour to an hour before you cut into it. You can also store it in the
02:34refrigerator and then serve it the next day if you would like. Just go ahead and cut yourself a
02:38slice, put it onto a plate, put it in the microwave for about 30 seconds to warm it up. And there you go.
02:43And that's how easy it is to make this classic fall pie. If you've never tried using the pancake syrup before,
02:48definitely give that a try. If you like this video, be sure to give it a thumbs up. I would
02:52greatly appreciate it. Subscribe for more deliciousness. Thanks so much for watching,
02:56and we'll see you next time.
