00:00Okay Lee, so just explain what's going on here mate, this is absolutely unbelievable
00:05I've got to say.
00:06Okay, so in mid-May of this year I managed to get hold of a seed with a particularly
00:14good genetic and I thought I'm going to have a crack at growing a giant squash.
00:19You certainly did, let's just take a look at this.
00:22And this is what I've come up with.
00:23That is absolutely incredible, unbelievable.
00:26A real labour of love, it's taken a lot of effort to get to this.
00:35I'll tell you what, if you just crouch down next to that for me Lee, so I can get you right
00:39next to that because that is incredible just to get the scale of it.
00:42So I mean how long has it taken you to grow this?
00:45So it's been growing since the middle of May.
00:50We did it some really bad weather conditions early on which knocked the plant back.
00:54Normally I'd set a fruit on the main vine, but the wind conditions wiped the main vine out
01:01and I was really tempted to just scrap the plant completely.
01:05Because normally you don't get fruit that's as big on secondary vines.
01:10But I've got nothing to replace it with.
01:12So I thought I'm just going to go for it and that's what I did.
01:15And I'm glad that I did, I persevered with it because the plant filled the patch anyway.
01:19I was going to say it's well worth it.
01:21Absolutely.
01:22Have you ever had one this big before?
01:23Never, no, no.
01:24Incredible.
01:25So what's the plan now?
01:26Are you going to show it at Malvern aren't you?
01:28Yeah I am, yeah.
01:29So obviously because of the size it's grown I've had to reach out for some help.
01:33I was going to say you can't put it on the back seat, can you?
01:36No, no you can't.
01:38What I did is I contacted my local MPs, Suzanne Webb who's helped me previously and Ryan Priest.
01:45Yeah.
01:46They came up and they've looked through their contact list and gone on a mission basically
01:51to get me help.
01:53And it's been manic over the last few days.
01:55I've been on BBC Radio WM and they've managed to put an appeal out there for me on Ed James'
02:05show.
02:06And unfortunately for me within one song I've got all the help that I need.
02:12I've got a company from Bromsgrove who are coming down to help me to lift it and I've
02:19got another company from West Brom who are going to actually take it down on the back
02:22of their wagon.
02:23Yeah.
02:24So you've got some help then, that's great.
02:26Wonderful.
02:27So what's the plan now then?
02:28Anything, what's the future?
02:30The future for me is always Giant Veg.
02:33So I'll just be trying to improve.
02:36Have you got anything in mind?
02:38Well I've always been a fan of marrows.
02:40Right.
02:41I've always loved marrows.
02:42There's a particular person that lives down south called Mark Bags.
02:47Yeah.
02:48Who's a bit of a hero of mine to be honest.
02:50He's a great guy and he shares seeds and he shares knowledge.
02:54Yeah.
02:55I'm part of one of his WhatsApp groups.
02:57And the aim is to sort of grow them as big as him.
03:00Yeah.
03:01You know I've always been passionate about marrows.
03:03Yeah.
03:04In fact I've got one over the back.
03:06Right.
03:07You've got to see before you go.
03:08Has he seen this?
03:09Has he seen the squash?
03:10Yeah.
03:11Yeah.
03:12He's impressed with it.
03:13I bet he is.
03:14But in all honesty I'm out of his league with growing.
03:17Right.
03:18So fortunately he's got access to farm, he's a farmer.
03:22So he's got a lot of ground and he can grow a lot of produce on there.
03:26And you know he gets fertiliser for free.
03:28If you keep going like this mate I think you'll catch him off.
03:30Maybe.
03:31Maybe.
03:32Alright thanks a lot anyway.
03:33Cheers Lou.
03:34Thank you all of you too.
03:35Yeah.
03:36Bye.
03:37So.
03:38Yeah.
03:39Bye.
03:40Yeah.
03:41See you too again.
03:42All right.
03:43We'll get back and see you soon.
03:45Okay.
03:46Alright.
03:47Alright.
03:48The captain and Mrs.
