It’s that time of year when the those fresh out of high school are thrown out into the big bad world, on their own for the first time. It’s daunting for many young people, and with the cost of living crisis still ongoing, budgeting is one of the biggest issues facing students. We’re asking people in Cardiff for their advice for freshers.

00:00I found a job as soon as I got to uni, so I was pretty good off.
00:05But I went to lots of concerts and stuff.
00:08Of course, I could have saved that money.
00:11But I'd say don't worry all the way on money.
00:17You know, set some aside for you to enjoy yourself.
00:20If you don't have a job and, you know, money's tight, you've still got to buy food.

00:29That's the best at first, but financial advice depends what you do even on that.

00:38Don't think that you can live like a king because you've got given free money from your grant and stuff.
00:44My first year, I ate a hell of a lot of food and was skint for my next couple of years.
