00:00University is an important experience in the lives of many, but increasingly it's becoming more costly.
00:07That cost comes with stress, anxiety and uncertainty.
00:11So how can students, especially new ones, cope better?
00:14I spoke to the experts to find out.
00:17Many, many students will be going to uni, many of them for the first time,
00:21but research from the current accounts rich service shows that nearly half of them feel stressed about their finances ahead of uni.
00:29This is a time of the year and of students life where they're juggling lots of things from their accommodation to their travel and to their finances.
00:39And one simple thing that they can do is to ensure that the bank account that they're using suits their needs at this particular time of their life.
00:48It's really key for students to ensure that before they start and they enter that new university life,
00:57that they do have that bank account that best suits their needs.
01:00Budgeting, you know, super simple thing, but it's using tools that give you, that allow you to plan your spending in advance.
01:11What's the key advice and the key points, which we may well have already covered, which you really want people to take away from this?
01:18Yep. So first and foremost, it's a really exciting time of your life.
01:23Have fun.
01:24You need a great time to learn, to make lifelong relationships and to grow as a person.
01:30Make sure that you have a plan for your spending in advance and make sure that you have that split between your fixed outgoings and your disposable outgoings.
01:43And yeah, make sure that you have a bank account that has the products, the features, the perks that best suits you at this point in time of your life.
01:52Putting in that time before going to sort out your finances and open that bank account and switch to that bank account that will best suit your needs for life at university.
02:06Putting in that time is going to be is the vital thing. It's it's the equivalent of, you know, you're looking forward to your holiday, your summer holiday abroad.
02:13But, you know, you've got to renew your passport and that takes time. It doesn't take too long.
02:19You've just got to put in that time and, you know, weight will be lifted in terms of stress or any concerns that you have from that financial aspect.
