With a survey suggesting almost half of university students feel stressed about finances, do you think schools do enough to prepare young people to budget? What’s the one financial tip you wish you’d had been given before leaving school?
00:00I think it's a parental responsibility. You know, schools have enough on, so I don't see why they should teach kids about budgeting. You teach kids as you go along.
00:10I'm old enough that I went to university on a grant and I do appreciate that.
00:15I don't think I got any sort of education along them lines, but I've got kids, well, they're grown up kids now, and I believe that they maybe got some education on that.
00:30And my daughter, she went to uni and she got student grants, student loans, etc.
00:35But I know it's quite easy for them to get into debt with the loans, and it takes forever, if at all, that they can pay that back.
00:45You can't do everything that you want with the money that you've got unless you're Elon Musk or somebody.
00:51So you have to learn that you can't do everything you want or buy everything that you want.
