Do you think schools do enough to prepare young people to budget - what more could be done? What’s the one financial tip you wish you’d had before moving out?
00:00No, they don't do anything like that at all. They don't do anything about mortgages that I remember. Mortgages about credits, about your credit ratings, about anything like that. They do not do anything like that. Maybe in the last year they should have a financial person come in and talk about these things.
00:19Girls need a class, an actual class for budgeting. They need a class to teach kids how to budget money before they even leave school.
00:30If you've got no credit at all, it's worse because you're invisible. You're nobody then. So you need to have some kind of credit. Even if it's just that you're there, your name's down. No, I don't.
00:42You have to pay capital tax, you have to pay water rate. Yeah, just a little bit more about your finance and how much it does mean because when you're younger you just think spend and have a good time.
00:53And yeah, my mum would say, oh come on now you've got to save, you've got to start saving. And I think really you don't realise how much you do need to save.
